What Weapon would a Chemist use?

i don‘t see a problem using a gun+dagger combination, since we already have 2 jobs using magic staffs, 2 jobs using books etc...
i think a gun would be awesome. imagine throwing a vial up and shooting it down so it rains healing droplets from above on your team, or something that does dmg to enemies. would be neat if you ask me!
and we would leave the trope that healers have to be flashy and gracefully.

Im all for a dart gun or blow darts. Or just throw darts in general.

I don't think that saying one job using a weapon automatically excludes another from using it. Weapon model variations already have things like paladins with gunblades, dark knights with katanas, and monks with stabby, dagger-like fists.

They could make the apothecary gun a pistol as opposed to a rifle and that could be enough to easily differentiate them. Or if daggers, it could simply be one dagger in hand as opposed to dual wielding them like rogue/ninja

Yes, however that's not going to happen. I think people are forgetting that the weapons that these jobs have correspond to that job. Giving a Chemist a Gun or Dagger would be weird. You have to consider what animations they would even come up with that a Chemist would use that would utilize a Gun or Dagger to heal people, etc. So Vials would be the thing to come to mind because it's a chemist. They deal with potions.

But vials aren't a weapon.
That's like Bards weapon being arrows, or MCHs weapon being bullets.

Having a bag full of vials isn't much of a weapon either.

A launcher however that fires the vials of potions, and grenades for dps...

It's the contents within the vials. I think people in general are still forgetting what Chemists do. So i'll iterate again. They throw potions/items. So their attacks would be....throwing potions/vials consisting of various concoctions. The animations for skills would be them mixing the vials and such.

Of course this is all speculation and my own personal wants. However i don't see them doing the same thing they did in previous iterations like FFT, FFX-2, etc.

I think you are referring to the hinted at healer class that uses potions and not magic. The name is kind of up in the air, as we already have Almechmy as a Profession. So calling them a Chemist is kind of strange.

But what weapon, it would be a tech-based weapon that can do both heals and DPS. So my thinking is the Healer Gun, as seen in many other videos games over the years.

This would be good, as we need a third magitek class to round it out, we have DPS & Tanking Magitek, so heals make sense.
