Are healers lazy or do some really live by "I only heal"?

Healers job is to support the group. Throwing up a HoT/shield and then doing damage supports the group. Overhealing by spamming 90% hp tanks and running around like a weeaboo do not.

The healer's job is to sustain the party until the end of the encounter. Healers are in a unique position allowing them to reduce the minimum amount of time an encounter takes, whether your tank or DPS are undergeared, bad, or optimized A plus players. However, it takes away from the healer's job of doing exactly that, healing. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, provided that the healer is still able to keep the party safely healed, and still be able to respond to mistakes to avoid wipes. Popping Cleric Stance and DPS'ing is, by it's very nature, a calculated risk, and in order to calculate, you need to make decisions, and make them quickly. If you have a 5-6 second window to DPS and you don't realize the opportunity until 3 or more seconds in, you've either missed your chance or you're CS'ing at a bad time, when heavy damage is going out or mechanics are demanding to be handled.

Not everyone is totally comfortable with their toolkit, or each encounter (in the case of leveling dungeons, often both!), and even some trash can be troublesome, hitting quite hard, demanding proper interrupts, or being poorly handled by the tank. If a healer isn't comfortable adding DPS here, they don't do it, plain and simple. If a healer is more than capable of healing well but chooses not to DPS, so what? I've watched countless DPS underperform or tanks with unimpressive positioning and CD upkeeps, there are lazy players in every role. If you're so bent about it, kick them and wait for a replacement or leave the party. If it's not that bad, then realize that they are fulfilling their role, and if they were bored, they would choose to contribute DPS or roll a different class.

You don't need to pop cleric stance to DPS. It helps, but you don't "need" it to DPS during downtime.

I completely agree with this. In a perfect scenario, every class should be able to play their role alone, but, not every party is going to hold to that standard and those are the moments when players either choose to hold to their job, or step outside their role specifications and just help make the clear happen.

I personally don't hold anything against players who don't step outside their role, but I think commendations are in order for those who do, while also maintaining it.

Healer DPS is nice and all, but I've never thought of a healer as lazy if they didn't DPS. I've thought of a healer as lazy if they're slow with heals. I don't particularly care if the heal was slow because they were trying to both DPS and heal, it's still lazy because their primary role is healing, not damage, and that's the part they were slacking on. It's about the vigilance required to monitor HP bars and think about the incoming damage.

and in DF i see all sort of ppl
DPS or not depend on the team makeup
i will only DPS when it is safe to do
i see undergear team
i see team that dont dodge AOE
i see internet connection lagging team
i see tank who dont wait for you MP recover before big pull or boss fight
i see tank pulling by just running pass the mob
to play safe i will take sometime to observe how i team do before i feel safely to DPS

I dont have a healer as my main, but when i do heal its 95% healing only, i could not care less about doing some damage, if i wanted to play as a damage dealer i would have joined a party as one, i joined as a healer deal with it, same when i play on my PLD new skill for dps? dont care when im in a party to weave it into rotation for abit more dmg.
I find healing relaxing, no stress to do max damage all the time and thats nice, if i am also forced to push my healer to the max then i would quit the game plain and simple, its nice to have somthing to fall back to when you want to do something new.
Not my fault that SE made the current endgame all about damage and less about making it fun to play, tanks and healers have to dps to clear a boss or he enrage(enrage must be the worst mechanic ever to have made it to any mmo, where is the challenge in just enduring a long hard fight?).

Do you even raid? If only dps focus on dps on say, Savage Alex, it's going to mean that they'll have to be absolutely perfect while the tanks and healers would have it so much easier in comparison. By your definition, 99% of the raid groups out there are bad, because you know, heal/tank dps is a thing.

It sounds pretty talking about "roles", but when someone has 5-10s time to pick their noses instead of being useful, what excuse is there?

I don't mind healers not dpsng, but all this "I dun wan carree bad deeps" is really sickening and a good example of only doing the bare minimum and no more.

Just because some groups may require the healer to DPS on the top end Savage raids, does not mean you as a healer MUST go all balls out on the rest of the 100 dungeons / instances, or for DPS to have perfect spreadsheet rotations, or for tanks to use perfect stance dances.

Saying a couple of end game raids require it, therefore you must ALWAYS do it, is bad.

Saying by far the majority of dungeons do NOT require healer DPS, so therefore you must NEVER do it, is bad.

Sometimes they may feel lazy/tired; I know when I jump on my healer I sometimes don't bother dosing. Why? Because I already have to press buttons nonstop and keep the group moving since I main a tank (currently War but have all 3).

Also most of the time people don't commend me if I go above and beyond what's expected. I had this run where I did dps the entire run, and never let the group die. I didn't get anything extra out of it. I did it because it was fun and I want to get out of there asap.
