Why does White Mage feel so bland?

As a result, I feel that the trend we've seen of WHMs moving to AST will continue. I agree that in the spur of the moment, I opted for using critical values versus base (1750 is a lot less than 3500), but my original point of the amount of utility both classes have (debuffs and buffs), versus just raw DPS, is lackluster. And because of the utility that both AST and SCH have to offer, I worry that WHM will no longer be relevant in endgame progression, and it will be difficult to be able to LFG (especially with this large investment that some of us have put into the class).

AST got a few potency buff and a decent healing cool down and WHM is suddenly not relevant in endgame progression. Please stop. WHM did perfectly fine before this patch and they will continue to be perfectly fine.

You have to realize that before the patch AST is simply not an option for most groups, now after the patch, AST is simply a viable option and no more. No one is going to say no to a healer class that can heal well, AST was a healer class that could NOT heal well.

1) CNJ/WHM is the only healing class available at level 1. SCH is unlocked at level 30 and AST requires you to have a level 50+ that has completed 2.55
2) You need to get WHM to level 34 to get Stoneskin, which is needed on both the other healing classes as well as PLD.
3) This game has the ability to level multiple classes/jobs on one character.

I missed the letter myself (so forgive the ignorance, those who have seen it and have more context about the photo than I), but any of those 3 things can skew the numbers if not taken into consideration. The picture has no indication of this, so I'm just going to assume they have not. [EDIT] Even if this only includes jobs that are at level 60, I have all 3 healers at 60 myself, but I only ever play 2.

Stoneskin is most certainly "not" needed on bother healers, SCH can easily get away with never having to due to aldo being miles ahead better in most situations. Stoneskins nerf pretty much made it cost more then it's worth to use, during battle at least.

Well, I can see where OP is coming from and even agree to some extent; I don't think it's an end of the world sort of situation though. I mean, seems to me the most notable things whm has is holy, cure 3, assize and maybe even aero 3. Ast got some more unique stuff like disable, synastry and the various card buffs (even if those buffs are of questionable effectiveness compared to selene).

Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned yet, but Whm is still the only healer that brings the mind bonus. And even if it's not traited, you still get another eye for an eye (and virus, though that's less notable really).

Also, also, talk about healer dps, but in a meta where one healer does the bulk of the healing ( that being the whm in whm/sch parties), I'm now wondering how things would play if astrologian could handle the bulk of the healing as whm did before on top of possibly upping party dps even when they're not dpsing.

If WHM is so "simple", why do 90% of WHMs suck so bad at playing the job (poor mana management, inability to stance dance without people dying, not using powerful CDs like POM or divine seal to name a few things I see frequently). Just because there are a lot of WHMs doesn't make them decent at it. IMO, SCH is far simpler. They get to dps while the WHM carries the bulk of the healing and their pet does their work for them. Don't get me started on AST tunnel vision messing with cards. Behind every good SCH/AST is an even better WHM.

But anyway, I stopped taking you seriously the moment you talked about not dpsing as a healer. Maybe that's why you are bored which will only get worse if you switch to SCH and expect to just heal. Good luck doing any real end game progression without contributing some healer dps.

Are you serious? this can be said of ANY job, regardless of simplicity, Some people simply aren't good at this game, No matter the job. WHM is of no exception, as unlike other jobs it may be simple by design but it requires you to fully pay attention and have high awarness, which most avarage people lack.

Wrong again... to get that "dps while healing" movement going, requires SCH to understand the job and know WHEN to do it, without letting people die in the process. and fairy healing is so little if you even attempt to let your fairy do "all the work" you'll find a very angry group, as they will be dead shortly after.

"messing with cards" IS how AST works. what the hell are you talking about, ARE you sure you're talking about the same jobs?

Actually that's not even remotely what I'm saying. The expectation for raiding SCHs (the good ones anyway) is to max dps and spam fairy heals on tanks. How is that not fair to say the fairy is doing the healing for you? Besides dungeons being face roll to the point you barely drop clerics as a SCH. The fairy carries the heals. Not nonsense. And not an insult to being a SCH so don't take it as such. It's how the job plays :P
