No. I have enough problem carrying around enough gear in my Armoury slots for all my classes and MAYBE one or two SB or glamour pieces. Having full on different sets for switching like this is a no-go. The person who brought up casters in FFXI was right.
Iron Giant. Fractal Continuum. Near death. Deals an attack capable of dealing 15,000 damage in 2 seconds. Techncially, it's two hits but in quick succession. Get an unlucky crit with the big hitter and your tank is going down. Even VIT tanks feel the punishment of that blow.
I've seen more tanks die to that than anything else in the entire dungeon.
At any rate, not to derail the thread my other points still stand. There's not enough stats to make gear swapping useful or necessary. Maybe if we had some more unique skills (Enhances Rampart) it would be worth a look, but I think we've got more chance of Y'shtola quitting the scions to become a pole dancer.
Every time I think about mid-battle gear swapping, either as proposed for FFXIV or as it was in FFXI, I start cracking up while thinking of a scenario where warriors are out fighting monsters, and mid-battle (as in, right in front of said monsters) they start stripping off one set of armor to put on other sets of armor.
Orc: RAWR! *raises weapon*
Warrior: WAIT wait! *makes T with hands* Time out a sec, that looks like a fire-aspected weapon, am I right?
Orc: Uh... well... yes?
Warrior: okay hang on. *Puts on fire-resistant gear* Okay, let her rip!
Orc: ... *swaps out with an Ice aspected club instead*
Warrior: Well that's just not f-
*BAM*
I personally as PLD have 3 VIT gear and 2/3 of my personal stats in VIT if I'm new to the fight. If I DO know the fight, I have maybe 2 VIT gear on (sometimes just one) and 2/3 of my personal stats in STR, as well as either doing full Sword Oath, or if its harder trying to stance dance between Sword Oath and Shield Oath. But that's just my personal play style. I think that there are many different kinda of play styles for each class, and no one style is right. Pick the style that you play well and that feels right to you and you will almost always do your best.
