And we didn't even get an Extreme Primal this time round (2.5), so there's literally nothing for the hardcore (and even midcore) players to enjoy, aside from T9-13 (though those will most likely be nerfed when Heavensward hits).

Obviously a troll thread. Anyone with half a brain and even a fraction of a sense of an mmo community would know that it makes more sense to request harder content in addition to what we already have.

On some days I like a challenge. On other days I like to take it easy. FFXIV is awesome that it allows us to do this.

Your attitude of do the game your way and not everyone else's way just to make you happy is beyond elitist. No. More like ... well ... Hitler comes to mind.

Well said! The best rewards comes from overcoming a great challenge! The best feeling in my MMO history was clearning Chains of Promathia on FFXI for the first time (pre nerf) no feeling like it.

Edit: Most people do not like the challenge, but EVERYONE loves that feeling after the challenge. Harder content!

Everything is easy when you're good, and everything is hard when you're bad. Think about that for a moment, while taking into consideration that this game is unbelievably easy compared to other MMOs. Everything from leveling up, to playing your job, to the hardest raid content has been made to be accessible to a very large number of people. It doesn't need to be easier; You just need to be better.

You don't understand the videogame industry... period... at all... This is an entertainment industry, meaning the necessity of it does not exist, thus the appeal of it lies in the fact that it must draw in a large group of people and be worth their free time and money. A videogame's worth is not based on how it appeals to one or two types of audiences, but for how it appeals to ALL audiences. Create a game that is too much casual (candy crush) and you fail to tap a market of "elite" gamers. Create a game with too much elite content, then you fail to tap an even larger market of casual gamers. This is why for a game to succeed, it needs casual content, often old content that has been made easier. It also needs elite content, usually introduced with new additions to the game. Most complaints on the "it's too easy" "elite" community isn't because old content is too easy (with new patches, and progress, old content it SUPPOSE to become easier, it's called power creep) it's because they are actually not getting enough new content fast enough to keep them on their toes. Even new content becomes old as it's played and cleared over and over. I'm sure the first raids that ran T13 found it to be quite difficult at first, because it's like figuring out a new puzzle. Once you start placing the piece, the entire picture begins to take form. However, as more people clear it, more guides get made, and the content becomes not only figured out, but memorized, and soon, it becomes old, casual player content. And you can count on the current "new" content to become casual content. As power creep progresses, the ability to ignore tactics becomes available, and the fight becomes trivialized.

I hate to be "that guy who refers to WoW", but when a game has been that successful, it isn't lame to take information from it, it's recommended. In their case, they have old content, which with newer and newer patches went from being challenging to soloable. It doesn't mean that the game is bad, it means that the old content that use to be for the elite is now for the casual, as it should be. Of course, WoW took old raids too and updated them and re-released them, but they are not the same old raids anymore, and this is acceptable, and even encouraged. We are seeing some of the same thing being done with the hard modes and the extreme modes of previously done fights and dungeons. The veteran players get to experience a sense of nostalgia while also getting their challenge. Further, not all new content needs to be for the elite either. Releasing casual content (Think of most of the extreme roulettes when they are released) is good too, so that the casual players can feel that they are also cared about.

I noticed complaints about gating content, and this complaint I can agree with, to a point. SOME things being gated is okay, because it will allow the new content to last longer, however, when there is a gate, there also needs to be more new content with each patch, to make sure that your players who have a lot of time don't get bored too. Further, loot lock outs are fine, if done correctly, and by correctly, I mean having two roll chances on each piece of gear that drops, 1st roll only for people who haven't gotten a piece that week, then a second roll where only the greed option is available to everyone. A full raid put in the effort to do the content again, don't jip them out of being rewarded even if they have to squabble over the gear. Something is better than nothing, and they still got their weekly loot.

EDIT: I will add that when you compare the fights in this game to those of WoW, their complexity is extremely lacking. However, WoW has had 10 years to introduce progressively harder and more complicated fights. Hopefully, this game might follow in the same foot steps, in time.

TLDR: Your complaint SHOULD be new advanced content doesn't come fast enough, not that current or old content is too easy.

Instead of nerfing hard content to the ground, they should just add a story mode version that doesn't drop any loot whatsoever, but allows you access to the whole story and cutscenes by defeating the bosses with toned down but still requires thinking mechanics. I wouldn't mind a story mode. Everyone deserves to at least know what happened in the coils and future raids.

Then again.. You'd get people complaining that the story mode doesn't drop any loot. *sigh*

Also some people before insulting me or telling me that I'm wrong, should read other people's comments aswell.

Meh... I think some people only come to forums to throw garbage at others...

Anyways, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who remembers the old video games, those were hard.
People nowdays have no idea of the meaning of hard, they instantly ask for a dumbed down version if they can't do it in a few trys, instead of practiceing more to get better at it!

Like I already said it before:
"Evolution is an important thing in life, if you are not skilled in something you practice, and become better at it, and not asking others to dumb it down, the world (real or virtual) shall not drop down to the limited capabilities of some people, that would be wrong. Final Fantasy XIV is not some garbage game, if someone can't play it because he/she thinks it's too hard, probably that person isn't willing to learn mechanics of a fight or simply practice more to get better at his/her role. FFXIV is way too easy already.
