Increase DF speeds by setting weekly lockouts per role

You're assuming people who play DPS main don't use tanks or healers to get faster queues for roulette. (I know I queue up as SCH or WAR to avoid waiting 13m for a queue)

"Oh, you want faster queue to cap DPS tomestones? Nope, you're only getting healer or tank tomestones now, buddy. Join up as DPS if that's what you want."

Definitely reasonable.

Please point exactly where I'm assuming that, in post #19 I acknowledged the lack of freedom to gear different classes by playing just one class as a downside, and not a minor downside, a major downside.

You imply it with the post I quoted.

Under OP's suggestion, the reverse is equally as true. The inability to gear up other classes without having to play that class/role is a downside. In simplest terms, if I go on Warrior to beat queues, I can't use those tomes I get to gear up my Ninja. That, to me and likely many others, is a waste of time. Faster queues? Quite the opposite since people who want to gear up their DPS mains and have no interest in gearing up alts, let alone hitting cap, will simply not do so. So the tanks and healers pool drops.

I imply nothing, I meant exactly what I wrote, all I said is that with the current system gearing several classes take months, I don't know where you got "people who play DPS main don't use tanks or healers to get faster queues for roulette" from that.

That's exactly what I said in post 19, the lack of freedom is a major downside, I'm not blindly supporting OP's idea, I can see the downsides.

This. If more people were willing to play these roles, the queue times wouldn't be there to begin with. Jumping in as a tank on any of the 50's DF content grants you instant access + additional gil. Plenty of incentive there already. Leveling up a tank to get to that point is also fairly easy with once more next to instant pops. Yet, for many players tanking or in similar fashion healing is quite simply not what they're looking for.

The suggestion of the TS is then also doomed to fail. You'll be dragging away a lot of healers/tanks who will be wanting to gear up DPS as well. But not getting the tanks and healers back as many DPS simply can't be bothered with those classes.

This isn't a new idea the OP has suggested. With the currency caps people argued why should I be punished for having more time to play than others. As the caps are a artificial gate to keep players with time more inline with the players with less play time. The first suggestion usually is well what if the cap is per role or even class. This is just a ploy to get more for time played vs others and yoshi himself has said no to the idea because it would make players feel obligated to do something they don't want in order to keep up.

This lock idea is poorly stated. At first glance it seems the op wants to lock you out of play at cap to force you to change roles to help ques. This seems to be a diversion from the real goal of getting more tomes per lock out period as it is a very poor solution.

I play warrior. I like to tank. A benefit of tanking is que times. Once my gear on my tank is where i want it to be from tomes i gear my whm then smn. The Op suggestion would punish me because if i wanted to gear like i currently do i would either have to play more and/or play a role i would rather not.

This would effectively hurt que times. As i am a skilled and well geared tank i would have to que a less needed role increasing que times and play a role i enjoy less. Because tanking would be useless to me to gear up alt jobs.

Ques for dps are longer because there are more of them compared to tanks and healers. On top of population difference are behavioral.

Tanks especially good ones are sought after. When i que i ask my guild if any one wants to leech my que time. If we dont fill a party i go to the pf. The DF for me is a last resort. So that takes even more tanks out of the DF que.

Best thing for the op would be to use the social tools available to you. Guild, linkshell, friends list, pf and last resort df. this is a mmo and people always seem to forget the social aspect.

If it hasn't been said, your idea forces people to level and play classes they may not want or feel comfortable playing. It also screws over the tanks & healers who do Queue up to help, which isn't uncommon. Your system would mean that I only tank/heal for friends, FC mates and/or charge for my services.

Also the separate caps would not promote a better Trinity system as most people still wouldn't do the duty and at the rare chance it works there would be an influx of level 50's who just leveled the job through Fates or Quests without full knowledge on how to play it well enough to be queue'd up just for tomes and stress more players out.

I suggest they make burn dungeons for non trinity parties or we can just wait for them to add more variety jobs so people will want to tank.

OP it's great idea , but it only will work for 3 new & 3 prev dungeons cause tomes , need somethin else . Still 450 x 3 is winner idea :)

mmhmm~ While the OP's suggestion is good, it doesn't help alleviate the core problem. I'd rather the devs sit down and come together and learn exactly /why/ people don't want to play as tanks or healers. Instead of offering backdoor style incentives to get more people playing these roles. All the incentives in the world won't help players that for whatever reason's magically make them suddenly find a role they find un-fun to play suddenly fun to play.

I'm all for gearing up alternate roles but I guess that's what the CT/ST/??? line is meant for.

Imagine the frustration being forced to play a dps and dealing with bad tanks because of a role currency/content lock prevented you from tanking? This ilvl110 paladin is mad cause I bane on my ilvl90 alt class and he can't hold threat on more then one target. Oh the nightmares!

@OP have you ever had to deal with a bad tank that just tanks to avoid que? Especially one that doesn't try or listen to advice? Imagine how much worse it would be if this suggestion was implemented. Its already bad now with all the awful ilvl 100 geared players that don't know how to accomplish their role.

@op what about the people who go with premades? Hey man we need a tank. Sorry Im tank locked. Sucks. Tanking and healing are less popular because they come with extra responsibility then dps that some people just dont want or aren't capable of. If 50% of the classes were tanks you still wouldn't have 50% of players tanking.

@op what about the dps players who already que as a tank or healer to help guild mates or just DF ques? With your system they wouldn't be able to do that to gear for their main role. So for example. You are your raid teams main bard. Its time to get poetics to gear up for final coil. Your alt class is much lower ilvl tank but more then good enough for a dungeon. Now you want to tank for guildies or the DF to get tomes for raiding but you can't cause tomes are role locked. Now you can either not gear your main or not help others get into combat. Increasing the reward of tomes to needed classes won't help either. They will just cap with less runs so you will have even longer ques as tanks need fewer DF runs than dps and que less often.

again the only thing your suggestion provides is a smoke screen for the old argument of getting more things than other people because you have more time to play. In this case time to cap three tomes a week.
