I got carried away by comment like yours thinking that spiritbonding was awful solo and that's why people did dungeons like it, turns out, it's easy as hell, my fastest solo spiritbind has taken me 27 mins as monk, yes I have timed it, mainly binding patrician sets since I wanted to meld my crafts without spending money.

+1. I believe losing materia with the Novus is generating a time sink for a quest line that is already time consuming enough. Pointless filler, if you will, to give an artificial sense that the quest is longer than it is. I was on the lucky end of RNGesus for my Novus (1/16 Tier IV fails) but a close friend blew up 11 Crit IVs making theirs. In my opinion, it's a long enough quest farming 75 Alexandrite without having to either farm millions more gil or spend dozens more hours spiritbinding simply to compensate for poor luck.

I would say its not really worth it, because Novus is not BiS it will be replaced with high allegan or a new set of stats when the next relic upgrade patch comes out in 2.4. Mathematically going for 3 stats on your novus vs going for 2 stats is like 1~3 dps difference. But the price difference is say 300k vs 8m or so. Now you got to decide is that 1-3 extra dps going to be worth it for a weapon that you will replace with either high allegan, the next relic upgrade in 2.4, or shiva weapons or whatever other weapons that drop in 2.4

ilvl 48-59 accs are very fast to spiritbind, and due to how fast they SB ( I did mine doing FATEs in north than) that it counters the small increase in chance of IVs from ilvl 55 gear. Plus electrum gear is very easy to make.

OT: Funniest Novus combo ive seen is a SMN with skillspeed :S Not spellspeed, skill!

Totally going to meld 75 lightning materias and solo Ramuh Ex.

I didn't mean to carry away anyone from SBing in open world, on the contrary, I want SE to discourage SBing in dungeons and keep it in open world, or try a different system that doesn't require people grinding monsters while using low level gear.

At some point, I'd love to lost alexandrite instead of IV materia :)

If you don't like the costs associated with it, you can go for another stat distribution with very small consequences in the end result.

This - I can't afford to buy and risk losing grade IV but that doesn't mean something must be "eased" because I don't have enough gil. Can make a very good Novus with melding only 96%-100% grade IV and then switching to another stat.
Removing the chance to fail materia meld on Novus actually would be an insult to people who have lost millions of gil and melded their weapon to max stat.

I'm fine with it as is. I'm not spending any money at all on T4s. Only reason I stuck in two Savage Might IVs is because I had them on hand to begin with. As soon as I'm out of Savage Aim III melds, I'm moving on to a third stat.
