No pls to visual indicator of AoE range. After 50 ranks, you should just KNOW where it's going it hit. Don't dumb down this game, I'd like for there to be minor amounts of skill involved.

Dumbs down the game in general. That along with the auto-guard they're adding, it feels like a cop-out. If it's added, it's going to downgrade the whole game a little more, basically: /easybutton. I'm possibly being snotty, but I'd like to know that if any achievements are gained in this game in the way of dungeon clears and world-firsts, etc., that it took some semblance of skill to do so, and that there's a surety that no one had it easier than the other person.
Also: shame on you if you don't know where your AoE will hit after 50 ranks, that's just silly.
To each his own, I guess, but I don't consider knowing what the exact distance is between you and the mob is a good indicator of skill. It's what you do with that knowledge in the formulation of battle tactics that demonstrates how well you use that information.
It's analogous to the newly introduced enmity meter, in a sense. It didn't turn the game into "easy mode" as all the complainers were yelling about pre-1.18.
2 months to late but I just now read this and gotta correct this. Whether AOE is there or not, we would -always- need to confirm twice. The AOE toggle was never the culprit for having to double confirm spells, subtargetting (the purple reticle) was. Case in point, THM's still need need to double confirm their Sacrifice spells and those aren't AOE anymore. SE would need to address subtargetting.
okay let me ask you this then..say me being a THM or CON (which i have spells from both classes) and i do end up knowing where my AOE is going to hit there is always that one mob that i didn't intend to hit because i wasnt able to see where my AOE was going to go.. then your mage and primary healer gets killed cause his spell got the attention of a mob that wasn't already attacking the tank in the group.. the AOE shadow for magic users is an awesome idea and BIG props to the OP for the visuals that were provided =) very creative and besides who says that YOU have to see where the magic users AOE shadow it should only be visible to the player who is initiating the attack the only info that the rest of the party needs to know is what spell on what mob(s)/party member(s) and weather or not said mage is in AOE mode or not no need for everyone else to see the AOE shadow two thumbs up to the OP
