I hope this game doesn't follow WoW's expansion routine.

Going forward, I hope they take a WoW model over the XI model for releasing new classes. XI released classes by the droves over the years, and they maintained poor balancing on all of those over the years; To the point where a single class would bounce between worthless to party staple.

Warcraft, like it or dislike, they made the right decision not to over-saturate the market with multiple classes each expansion.. and the reason is very simple. The more classes you have, the more overlap you are going to experience between those classes, as well as the harder it is going to be to balance each class against each other; And while there has been balance issues in the past, they have never been close to the level that XI classes experienced.

*Note: Going by the current class/job format that XIV:ARR has, and comparing that to how WoW released it's classes, you see that WoW released with nine classes with each having three jobs (making that 27 jobs) and then one base class and three 'jobs' each time they released a new class bringing the total to eleven classes and thirty-three jobs.

Final Fantasy XI was a great game indeed! However, that game is still live! If you or anyone else feels they are missing out on certain things from Final Fantasy XI they can go back at any time and get exactly what they are looking for!

The races? The races are a trademark Final Fantasy stamp! Look at Final Fantasy X! Kimahri Ronso wasn't human at all but could speak and act like a human! So it goes beyond Final Fantasy XI!

And for your last statement of Paladin, Warriors, Mages etc all come from early versions of Final Fantasy games! Final Fantasy XI did NOT create these classes new, they have been around since the beginning! All of them may not have been playable BUT they certainly were there!

Most expansions gave 3 new jobs in XI.

Hell, this game needs more jobs. XI began with 12 and that game was released more than 10 years ago, that's a lot more than this game has. Over three years SE added...... two. Two new jobs. Wow.

I agree with the spirit of your OP. Final Fantasy 14 needs more interesting variety. Especially in the class/job arena. But in other things as well, such as armor, secondary job options ect.

XI released in JP a year before the US and didn't have the xilart expansion. When it shipped in the US it came with the xilart expansion and the cap was raised to 75 and it stayed there until abysea came out a decade later or so. The cap never raised before that.

No imagine playing XI in japan with a level cap of 50, no SKY and no xilart missions. That's pretty much what we have in XIV right now. The difference being that it came out for JP, NA, EU etc all at once. If it were like XI we'd still be waiting for launch till aug 26th 2014.

If people want Vanity slots they should go play Age of Conan, or if they want minions they should play WoW. Those games are still active, so no need to borrow any of their features. And Rift has plenty of Fates, no reason for FFXIV at all.

Over all, 4.5/5 Not bad.

Honestly, SE should just add Absolute Virtue and get it over with. It would shut up all XI lovers instantly, because suddenly they have an impossible to beat enemy they can waste their entire life fighting and believe they are doing something meaningful.

Meanwhile all of us who think spending hours for nothing is a waste can do do something productive.

People all the time seem to suggest that if a person liked something from FFXI, rather then add to ffxiv, the players should quit and go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, features from other mmo's are complimented or asked for left and right.

People seem to want it both ways and no ways.

When people say they don't want any new features from x, y, or Z because FFXIV is its own game, but they love A,B, or C which come directly from another game is madness.

FFXIV does not exist in a void.
