Having spent 1/2 hour this afternoon on the phone with my bank I now know where the fault lies at least in my instance.
I am using a Visa debit card from Australia to pay for this and Visa is the one who has put a stop on the payment.
They believe the payment is trying to be taken from my card by a fraudulent website( Yes SE they think you are frauds).
The only suggestion I can make is to call your banks and get them to check if your credit card provider is doing the same thing.

PS SE why don't you talk to the big card providers i.e. MasterCard and Visa and sort this out.

Ok, I waited 24h (just in case) from my failed attempts with "direct pay" yesterday, and was able to do it with crysta today. It's the same global collect thingy used for both pay methods, not sure why it didn't work yesterday...
Luckily it doesn't cost any more with crysta.
