So why not spend 20 minutes levelling your marauder so you don't have to do them as a lancer?
Sometimes boss goes puddle then platform. Ppl that just run to the nearest (and didn\\'t notice u left a puddle there) will get rekt. If they notice and try to run to a diff platform they might not make it.
If it lands on ur platform u have to move to another. So why not stand in between 2 platforms?
Well, if people ran onto a platform that had a puddle, that more of their own fault for not paying attention. Also when the boss does puddle>platform there's plenty of time to run from one platform to another if needed. And the reason I stay on the platform is that it sets me up for a lot of the boss mechanics. When the towers come up, I'm in range for two of them, when he fills the floor with poison, I'm already on a platform, when the Foobars spawn, I'll be right there to attack one and drag it if needed, when the orbs spawn, I can take one immediately, and if a puddle does land on me, I have to move to another area anyways with there always being two available platforms to use.

WAR
After killing the ants passed the 1st boss, the WAR decides to leave for reasons unknown. I shift to Fist of Earth stance and pop all the defensive CDs I could use for every small pull. We break the 1st honeycomb and decided to have Titan-Egi tank. It did go so well.
Up until we get to the 2nd boss, (that one giant bee I cant remember), I let the SMN start the pull with Titan-Egi and try to ease up on dps, to keep myself from ripping hate. However, despite all of the heals, Titan-Egi falls to the bee sting. I try to keep as much hate as possible while in Fist of Earth Stance to mitigate whatever I can and rotating CDs. The bee nearly kills me 3 different times not paying attention to the Boss's ability called "Ally" as I am not used to this situation.
During the insuing chaos, a DRK joins the party, but is locked out. Watching us as we rip this bee to shreds without a tank.
TL;DR - Tanks are overrated :P
Just had a horrible run of VA, and I was a little to blame. I wasn't meshing with my team at all. Died on the first boss twice, once because an add aggroed me and I got no heals. Like not even one, the second one was one of the line adds that charge and one shot you, I derped on the way and got to it late, so I couldn't kill it, but no one else attacked it either. Did not get the chain broken on me during the Sawtooth fight, and even though I made the platform for Bile Below on Chuchoo, I got killed. Last boss I got of a lb just as the boss jumped and some dps decided to bleh.
Was just like I hate this place right now. I was tired and not functioning very well. Was probably the worst I have ever meshed with a team.
More than once I've found myself stuck between two platforms covered in puddles during room aoe. So it's die where I stand or die on either platform in range. It just boils down to players thinking they're special enough to not worry they're making it harder on other players. "It doesn't bother me to screw you up, so screw you."
Not exactly about the run per se but...
I did an A3, rolled need on the 4 items (I actually did need them all I wasn't just trying to ninja stuff)
I rolled a 94, 96, 97 and a 98 and lost all 4 rolls.
I had a decently good run today.
Boyfriend and I were doing Expert Roulette, got SMA. DPS (particularly the BLM) were amazed by the crazy big pulls we were doing. Things were dying fast, mobs, bosses, everything. BLM said we restored their faith in the DF.
Boyfriend and I commended each of the DPS, then they both proceeded to commend only my boyfriend, and I was sad. #unappreciatedhealerlife
Had an excellent Void Ark run.
Except for the fact that our poor Astrologian kept drawing Ewer cards, so he'd throw them at me just so I can keep Foe up. Hats off to him, but man, that is some terrible RNG luck to be drawing THAT many Ewers in one run.
Tanks who don't enter the healer bubble makes me cry.... I had collective unconscious up and the tank literally stood on the outside edge of it. ><
Doing leveling roulette as healer for my challenge log, and I get Ifrit four times in a row. Bleh, whatever EZ PEASY RIGHT?
XD On the last run of it the dps don't kill the nail in time, and the DPS yell at the tank for not helping to dps, I tell them they're wrong, but the tank listens to them anyways. Then DCs. I Heal the dps through it and leave.
Have a bitter taste in my mouth over it.
Two years I've played and I've never had a group so bad in IFRIT that the tank needed to help with the single nail......
Dusk Vigil
Everything was going well, beat the first boss and then DRK levelled up to 60 then left...
Yeah thanks
I said we may as well continue while we wait and we managed to clear the dungeon with just the 3 of us, NIN (me), BLM & SCH.
So whoever you are we didn't need you anyway!
Is the healer bubble something you need to have special effects enabled to be able to see? I find that I have to disable special effects because quite a few interfere with being able to see ground indicators. Would be nice to be able to enable persistent indicators (bubble, shadow flare, etc.) because they don't interfere, but don't have that choice. But then I also tend to try to keep mobs in place / return to the same location after moving, so anything cast over me is likely to remain over me. But yeah, can't see the bubbles.
I know the pain, especially as I tend to do the following. Aspected Helios > Aspected Benefic > Card Buff > Collecting unconscious > Time Dilation. Like a free 30 secs of a max tank if I got a Bole card....then to see the tank basically run away from my buffs and ruin it. :(
It's not that unusual if most of the party, or at least the damage dealers, are on-level in basic white gear typical for the level. Like many fights, it only becomes trivially simple when the party is made up mostly of over-leveled over-geared players. It's a serious challenge for newcomers. (Of course, I don't know whether the damage dealers in your run were, in fact, on-level newcomers or over-leveled but just bad. It could have been either.)
Ok, so while doing my relic (Monk, still not finished) I was DF'd for Sohm Al and got a group (after only 12 mins, huge yeah) and we were doing fine.
We got to the middle boss, and I am not totally sure what all happened, but we got taken out.
We all respawned and while I was running (after shortcut) and someone made the comment "Mage LB the green slime and the boss on this run."
To me that was good advise, and when the big shock when I got up with the group and started to setup for the fight
I GOT VOTE KICKED
After it happened, all I could do was laugh.
So, I went back in to the DF and got another group and we cleared it all on a single run!
I was kicked from a duty in fractal Continium because I was doing high damage.
My DRG is ilvl 202. I enter to fractal with a party that had an awfull tank that could barely keep hate, with some ilvl150 and 160 gear pieces and was NOT new.
When we arrived at the first boss, during the fight I stole hate from the boss sereval times. The PLD was loosing the hate and at the end he couldnt recover it it. So I died, and eventually everyone also did.
I asked the PLD why he couldnt keep hate, and he told me to slow down my DPS, worst the orther dps and the healer were defending him! Apperantly they we all on a pre made.
The dps told me it was my fault for dieing beacuse I didnt slower down my damage, I said that of course i wouldnt, a dps should not slow down beacuse of the tank. The dps and the healer told me that was my fault for dieing, not the tank, that or I slow down my dps or I died lol, the dps told me that he didnt die. BEACUSE HE WAS NOT DOING ANY DAMAMGE AT ALL SO THAT THE TANK COULD KEEP HATE.
I repeated taht was not my fault, that is what dps do most of the tipe, and that I was not going to slow down my dps so that the tank dont loose hate on the fights.
The keep saing it was my fault and etc. So I was kicked.
Really guys you think that is right? to be kicked beacuse I refused to slow down my dd ?
If those guys wanna slow down they shouldnt, since they are on a pre made I think that they should teach the tank how to keep hate. Honesltly I dont think much people would like to slow down their dps.
When you get matched with a very big gap between the tank ilevel and the DPS they are going to lose hate usually. I have been paired with ilevel 170 tanks and I have seen many of them try their best but because I have like 20-30 ilevels on them they can't keep hate off me. 30 ilevels is just too much of a gap
Really the healer could have easily kept you alive on the boss and just healed you and let you tank, which is usually what happens when you get an i170-80 tank with i200+ DPS. It wasn't really your fault but it wasn't really the tanks fault either. I've tanked fractal bosses on BLM because of a low ilevel tank.
It seems to me the healer was just being stubborn cause an i200+ DRG can easily tank any of the bosses in fractal. They might need more attentive healing but it's totally doable. I don't know how you dying would cause the rest of the group to wipe since the tank should have regained hate upon your death. Seems like the healer stopped healing or is just bad. So you're putting the blame in the wrong place imo. You should try going on tank in i170 gear in fractal and keep hate off a player i200+ that knows their job really well...you're gonna have issues.
They shouldn't have kicked you though but if a tank is having trouble because of such a huge ilevel gap and they ask nicely for me to ease up a bit I will to an extent. You could have tried to compromise with them? I guess if they were being jerks right off the bat though then w/e you should be happy to get kicked so you don't have to play with them.
I do slow down my deeps when I see that this undergeared tank is willing to do their job right. If not, well, I'll tank then. And if these three people really would've been a premade, then they've been pretty stupid signing up in DF and dealing with a potentially well-geared DPS who doesn't want to slow down.
But whatever, as much as I can see, you were doing your job, which is to deal as much damage as you can, and that's no reason to get kicked.
They were right to defend him. With a big iLevel difference like that, the tank is pretty much always going to lose hate unless you're lowering your own aggro. You could do that with Elusive Jump, by scaling back your damage, or some combination of the two. Otherwise you'll have to take over tanking. You didn't lower your aggro enough to stay within your role and you failed at tanking. (Or perhaps the healer failed you while you were tanking. It's impossible to tell from your description of the fight.) Were you using all your defensive and recuperative skills? It's a lot harder to tank on a DPS job than it is on a job designed to be a tank, but it should be possible if you do it well.
Sorry but if that PLD had a ilvl180 weapon, using just Halone combo only, can make you keep hate.
Yes I forgot to say he had an 180 weapon, was the highest thing he had.
Also the reason why I died was beacuse the healer couldnt keep me up when the first boss ( Phamton Ray ) used his small tank buster atack.
Not saying it's not possible, but most people have issues in my experience. I am sure your friend is good (depends on ilevel you didn't say what ilevel they were), but there may be people who do more DPS than them so that 90% could turn into 100% and then they have hate. Yeah DRG could have used Elusive, I don't know if he did, he didn't say.
Still can't ignore the fact that a 20-30 ilevel difference does make it harder on the tank to keep hate. If the DPS you get is i200+ and knows their job really really well you may not be able to hold hate with i170-i180.
Of course I used Elusive jump, I thought it was not necesary to said based it was very obious. Still it didnt worked.
After having my initial confidence as Dark Knight completely and utterly shattered by a Duty Finder BRD (long story, very long and unpleasant story)... I started dusting it off recently. Naturally with my FC mates partying with me bc one's levelling her NIN...
Basically, I built up enough confidence to finally tank Duty Finder Sohm Al, and the first party I had was excellent, I didn't lose aggro except for that last pull with the dragons and the ice dragon one because those are both hot messes.
And saw the first gaelikitten ever drop in there, and got it to boot. Duty Finder isn't all that bad sometimes.
Shoutout to the DRG in the Aery earlier, I was testing if I could reposition the second boss so the annoying poison clouds wouldn't be in the way constantly - I was wrong, thanks for putting up with me!
Now to build up enough confidence to go onto roulettes again... :o
I won't go into detail this time, suffice to say if I get one more DPS in Ravana Ex who can't count to 4 I'm going to reach through my screen and smack them with my cane.
Leveling DF on my whm just now. Get Titan story. Cool, easy stuff usually. It's going surprisingly well for a DF, even if it is story. Then I notice the blm is taking a lot of damage. Turns out, the blm liked to stand in the shit and not move. Not even casting, just kind of sitting there eating WotL. I should have let it die.
This. Melee yo
You can hold hate spamming hate combo on pld and drk (war has unchained ez) 30 ilvls below. Not efficient but u can hold hate. Aforementioned dps were both 210 and do crazy damage.
I did 1 goring 2 roh and held. If I did 3 roh would have even more hate.
I dont know if I'm a guy with a really bad luck but hey I have another story to tell xD
Just a few minutes ago I signed up to Expert roulette as a DRG ilvl202
The party seem to be decent, and the orther dps was a BRD ilvl210. We had Pharos Sirius HM.
Just on the first pulls I notice something wasnt going out right, we were taking very long to kill the trash mobs. On the first boss, we tooked too long to defeat him. When it was finaly down I notice we have being already 10 minutes since the duty started, or minute 79 to finish the dungeon.
I asked why the dps was slow and also if the BRD was doing this proper rotations. The BRD freely admited that he was not doing his proper rotations and that was on purpose doing low dps, all beacause of his excuse of "this is a DF dungeon".
I told him he should not do that, that is not good to do low dps on purpose while I have to do all the work. That as DPS, our job is to do the as much dmg as possible on the shortest time.
Then the healer told me chill out and again the BRD told me that this is a DF dungeon and that he can do what he wants.
The tank said that was going to the wc.
While we waited I was kicked. So apperantly I meet another pre-made party that doesnt care on doing low dps.
