What's your first impression of Eureka?

4 hours in Eureka. Gained 4 levels, 39 crystals, 0 lock boxes, saw 0 FATEs. So far this seems like too much effort for too little gain. At least with the previous Relic & Anima weapons, I was doing different tasks for each stage.

Overall, the island looks neat and I'm really interested in where the story is going. However, I haven't done anything this boring since leveling a Cleric in EQ. At least in EQ I had time to type and chat with my guild.

Hmmm looks like u have learned nothing and all your responses lately on the forum shows u are doing 1.0 mistakes again and not listening to the players.

I'm irked by the lootboxes from the FATEs in there. Why the hell do they once again toss sparklers and that stuff into the mix? I mean really SE come on. Also the fact the Mount and Music are apparently not tradable items, meaning you need to get stupid lucky to get them from there. It kind of sucks.

It's boring while solo, but really fun with friends to play with, especially with voice chat.

I kinda liked it solo, at least for a bit, but unless you have cash to burn for pots every few mins or can self heal it's not worth the effort.

The reward vs effort ratio is horrendous. I've had more interesting and better rewarding grinds in Neopets.

I hate Eureka mostly because the grind is WORSE the the Crystal sand step on anima weapons, and Eureka pretty much guaranteed I will not be coming back until the fix how boring the grind is(Monster Hunter does the grind WAY BETTER and that is a a completely different game), fix the stats allotment on tanks for beyond level 60(seriously everyone wants more DPS and tanks are always going to be doing DPS), and fix Dark Knight job but we all know that won't happen until 5.0... Eureka is what ruined FF14 and was the final nail in the coffin for me trying to even enjoy what Dark Knight there is... the grind Eureka with others is too much... they took Palace of the Dead unique leveling system with failed Diadem exploration and called it something new... it sucks...

Alot of people keep saying "It'll get better" and "This is just the start".

But first impressions are always the most important.


My first impressions weren't very good. My sister and I planned on finally fully finishing a relic together, and were excited about Eureka. Neither of us played XI, so when it was mentioned that it may be similar to that game, we just shrugged it off and agreed it'd just mean a new, unique experience for us.

It seems we were incorrect.

Now I'm perfectly fine with grinding. One of my current favorite games is Warframe, and those who know about that game also know its grindy nature. I'm rank 25, with nearly all equipment in the game maxed out. Suffice it to say - that's alot of grinding, folks. But the difference here is that the grinding is -fun-. So far, Eureka is not -fun- to me. First impressions with warframe was enjoyment. Flipping around being an epic space ninja hooked me for years. Eureka's first impression was people constantly stealing my mobs, dying to mobs chasing other people, insanely low exp gains, and artificial difficulty. After almost 2 hours, I got 10 crystals. My sister? Only 1 crystal. One. And we're told to get thousands!?

I resubbed and everything to do this with her. We've already given up, at least for now. I'll have to really talk myself into slogging through 20 levels of this, and the dream of this being my first finished relic is dying fast.

First time in there tonight, spent around 2.5 hours I think and got to level 4. It's really fun with friends! We were talking and having a good time. I went in on RDM (which is kinda like my off-main right now, or becoming it) and the grindyness is certainly helping me hammer in my rotation. I think for that this might be a really good tool.

Is it gonna be a crazy long grind? Yeah, probably... but if you have cool people to do it with maybe that won't be so bad.
