Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW!

To be fair this isn't just a new player/old player thing. There are plenty of old players that never learn basic game mechanics or figure out how to recognize what's going on in a fight. The game never makes you. There's two ways to get full ilvl 240 gear in this game - you can either do what is by FAR the hardest content in the game, or you can get carried through a very very easy 24 man raid. Hmmm. I wonder why people aren't better at fights.

This is a totally flawed comparison though, because your brain doesn't work like a button that automatically makes you perform the exact same motion every single time.

If the brain did work that way, then NBA players would be hitting 100 percent of their open shots from certain spots on the floor.

We don't have more raiders because it's too time-consuming (and woefully inefficient) to memorize these fights without a static group, and most players don't have the time for statics.

You guys really should stop blaming the FFXIV devs for copying WoW and instead start blaming them for copying it poorly. It's like they took all the things people hated about WoW and rolled them into an ugly ball of fetch quests, green-blue-purple-gold-skittle-colored loot hierarchies, and "remind me again why we give a crap" daily currency/reputation grind, ultimately ending up with this misshapen lump of failed ideas that seems to nag you in a voice eerily similar to that of your mother-in-law.

I almost hope they try to emulate FFXI with this game for all of you so that they can totally miss the mark on what people enjoyed it about it so much, then I can read the delicious, cathartic forum salt.

Would prefer it if this game was more like WoW tbh. Almost everything I dislike about FFXIV, I (at least kind of) like the counterpart in WoW.

For examples: Add-on support, parser support, talents, specializations, increased number of difficulty levels for content etc.

Why would anyone smash their heads against something brutal when they can take the easy road, even if it takes more time?
