sorry guys! i should have been more specific

what's the current BiS set-up for a pre-t5 monk under the "i'm not a big fan of skill-speed" build? (i'm probably going to use allagan gloves instead of myth, tho. the diff between the two is negligible and allagan gloves just look so cool)

New monk here and trying to make it into my main, I have 0 experience with this class since I leveled it with daily low-level roulette only where I could use 2-4 skills at best.
Been looking around at various guides and truth be told everyone has a different rotation or the next best thing, which is giving me a headache.

On another note has anyone tried this build to know what the average dps of it is?
I'm looking for a proper build all while knowing the what exactly the next skill is (3x snap punch, how?)

The gear I'm using for T5 is Determination oriented with low Skill Speed and doesn't have any T5 drop (RNG decided I should get DRG drops and not MNK :<) , it has the EX Primal weapon though.

Fate already kicked me in the teeth this week, repeat drop (bow) and the Allagan Helm. :(

Lol, this is the exact same set I'm using for T5. No T5 drops either here. This week it was Axe (again) and Dragoon Feet (No one [in the static] use DRG. Not even as a subclass...). But I'm already getting used to wait 20+ weeks till I can see my loot. Meh.

afaik optimal monk rotation after the opening with Fracture incorporated:

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Demolish -> Touch of Death

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap Punch

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch -> Fracture

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Demolish

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap Punch -> Touch of Death

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Demolish -> Fracture

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Snap Punch

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch

Bootshine -> True Strike -> Demolish ->

Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch -> Touch of Death

Basically, I use Fracture after the first Dragon Kick after every Touch of Death to help with the timing.

Drop Fracture.

Stop thinking in terms of rotations for MNK. You're simply alternating between 2 core combos with proper substitution of Demolish and injection of ToD when applicable.

better off Droping facture and ToD at the begining in favor of getting Gl3 faster. the longer you take to reach GL3 the more DPS u lose. getting Gl3 should be your first prioirty.

Btw what do you experienced monks do in Ifrit EX during the plume phase (after nails, before dashes) and how do you open at the start of the second and third phase when the chain eruptions start soon after Ifrit lands?

The plume phase seems so short that prioritising GL3 seems a waste since it'd drop during the dashes anyway. Does he still take dot damage during dashes? And what would be the best skill sequence after that, just before the first chain eruptions? If unlucky during eruptions I may end up dropping my combo and GL - usually not, because Shoulder Tackle ♥, but unlucky timing happens.

During Plume phase you should just do standard from scratch rotations unless it's the final plume phase and DPS is high enough that you'll kill him before race cars. Ignore ToD here completely.

He does not take DoT damage during race cars. Checking the battle logs, looking at his HP bar, he doesn't take any damage. Tonight in a sell we took him down between 1 and 0% before race cars, with DoTs on him, and sure enough we had to wait until he came back for him to die.

Once Ifrit comes back, either PB if you have it or regular rotations. You have time to ToD with PB, but without, you must ignore it until you come back.

Thanks for the tips Sleigh! I'll just focus on high-potency attacks during the plume bit then and ignore dots.

If you (the DPS) stand shoulder-to-shoulder before Eruptions, you can easily spot who has been marked. If it's not you, dodge to the side of Ifrit instead of doing the about-face retreat.

If done correctly, you'll screw up Ifrit's script through excessive DPS, forcing him to Hellfire before he spawns the nails. Everyone will proceed to yell at you.

had that happen to me, we were on P3 nail, 30 sec in Iffit does hellfire and wipe the group....LOL. I think our SMN and blm keep the DoT on him

Well ... one time we pushed Ifrit right after all the nails in the final phase were destroyed, then after he jumped up and came back down, he respawned the entire final nail phase again. That was trippy.

Just wondering if any monks have pushed above 310 dps on titan ex. Haven't tried with the allagan fist yet.

Sure. Tonight I went up to 350. Wasn't focusing on the parse, just saw 350 when Titan jumped. On a dummy I get 390 so yeah I'm not surprised.

I was parsed 340 DPS before he jumped, but I don't have my Allagan weapon yet.
My highest kill DPS was actually 310.

I was able to reach 340+ not full BiS for mnk, but I struggle to keep it 300 DPS on kill. Most I've done was 289. Guess if the people I play with do high DPS, I won't be able to reach anything above 300+. Still have to test the allagan fist out.

As for using fracture, I don't see any point as it always lowers my DPS or maybe I just don't know when to use it. Whenever I use fracture, my demolish falls off mid combo... and yeah, its a bit frustrating. Anyone have a way to keep fracture up without demolish or ToD falling off? Or should I just not use it? Currently, I don't even use it.

I have a question specifically about Garuda. Is it possible to keep your GL stacks during her first disappearance? Such as running out on the other side of the rock or something crazy like that. I saw another Monk keep his dps rather high during that section, so I was curious.

I think there is not enough time, the untargetable duration is too long to keep GLx3.
You can probably shoulder tackle in the instant the cast bar finishes for the mistral shriek, and don't leave Garuda until she disappears that would give you your best chance of getting it off. I'll try next time and see if it's possible.

I just PB in the second set, I don't bother with the first 15-20s since it's pretty much a guaranteed drop unless you do something crazy like stand in the wind or ask for Stone Skin + Adloq or something.

Managed to level my monk up to 50 and gearing it to a decent 85 with some myths and primal weapon and accessory.

Im dealing close to 280 dps without limit break in T1 Cad. Taking a break from tanking im now obsessed with how much damage i can deal. So im asking, at ilvl 85 what should a monk's dps be.

Another question is, when GL3 is up and have PB for use. What skills do you guys normally use ? I used BfB with Bootstrike. But the numbers just seem minimal. Is it because BS usually crits from the rear thats why its damage is somehow capped ? Should i be using Snap Punch instead.

Well... it would have made sense for the OP was updated with a digest of up to date practices and such - similar to the Dragoon Thread - but that hasn't happened. If anybody is up to the task, it may be worth migrating the discussion to a new thread with someone willing to maintain it.

It's something I considered doing (still consider now and then) but not sure about how much time I can put into it lol. If it isn't done soon, I'll probably get around to it though.

You only get 1 sure crit with BS, I thought. I haven't been using PB as a single target damage spike when GL3 is already up, as I would still be working my rotation to keep up DK/TS/Dots. If I'm using PB from scratch, I usually go Demo-DK-(IR)TS-SP-SP-Demo...then my normal GS3 rotation alternating DK+TS -Demo- BS+TS -SP-. Though, I could be horribly wrong and I'll admit that I might sometimes throw in an extra DK when I want to see my toon breakdance.

BS is an autocrit from the rear if you're in opo-opo stance, yes.

*Alternatively, one can replace this Boot with a DK, and make it so DK never drops. Should the DK here crit, it would be no different from a Bootshine anyway. On the other hand, if it does not crit, the DPS loss from it is theoretically greater than the DPS loss from having blunt resist down for 2 skills.
