So what is the problem with the lottery system that makes it unfair? It's literally RNG.

If you're not one of the multi-owners then I apologize for assuming. I still think the people that jump through hoops to circumvent the spirit of the account limit for housing are being selfish though.
FCFS was still and issue, as others have pointed out already.
And I'll keep going back to that it's the ward system that's the real problem. Moving servers isn't an option in some cases as some data centers as a whole are overcrowded, and again that has a whole lot of draw backs in changing servers in itself because cross server FCs aren't a thing. If they'd just add instanced housing then there would be no need for dealing with these ridiculous bandaid systems or workarounds where no one is ever really happy.
Because it rng is why I don't like the new system. I also didn't like the older one also but at least I didn't feel bad bc a number generator decided that Im not lucky enough to win. Even when I bid on a house with 1 to 3 bidders I still end up losing bc I just have bad luck. An rng or luck system sucks for a limited resource. That is why most don't like the lottery bc after each lost the odds only go down since there are fewer and fewer houses to bid on esp on high-pop servers like mine. I will be lucky to find any meds in the next cycle now. So now I have to wait until 7.0 for them to add more wards. If they added wards on every major patch it wouldn't be so bad.
The lottery system has to exist because CBU3 refuses to crack down on the blatant bots / auto-key scripts.
It's so bad that players have even exploited the behavior by putting a retainer vendor where the placard used to be and pricing items in the millions of gils.
This comment doesn't make sense. So you dont like the new system because RNG doesnt give it to you, but it was okay with the old system when...RNG didn't give it to you? The old system *also* had ways AROUND the RNG. Like I said in another comment, people could relocate their house and it would override the RNG.
Also you'd actually lose TIME. You could click on a sign for HOURS and lose. That's a lot worse of a feeling than "oh I spent 3 minutes buying my lottery ticket and I lost".
I said I didn't like either system as a whole... But yes I like the old system bc I could relocate easier. Back then it was all about getting that first house no matter where it was and then waiting for a larger or better plot to open. It felt like an upgrade system to me and I enjoy that part. I get why ppl didn't like it but it was nice when you finally saw a plot you been really wanted for years open up and you were able to grab it. Now you just have to settle even if it's in an area you can't stand. As someone who HATES the goblet and wants out so damn badly bc I don't even feel like making my house look nice anymore for myself due to my surroundings.
Overall I hate all the systems they put in bc none of them fixed the main issues with housing and that is the amount of housing that is available. All the money and resources that went into making these bandaid systems could have been used to make an IH system where everyone could have a house of the size they chose and in the area they chose. You and others can settle for a better but still bad system all you want but I'm not. I'm going to continue to complain about the ward system and the lottery till one day the dev come to their senses and makes an IH system. I demand better for a game I pay a monthly sub for and I won't just settle for anything less...
