I already posted a bit about Ishgard this morning before work. The damaged Ishgard picture is of Ishgard's fort and not of the actual city. There seems to have been some mass confusion regarding this and Yoshida said in the interview the city is not damaged.

Nothing much in that dengeki article. I wouldn't expect anything new until the magazines publish this week (furage is around Wednesday (JST) evening for solid information).

Ya dengeki one is the group interview they had with other media's pretty slow for them to release same info lol.
As for the Ishgard like Aki mentioned above someone saw the image + Ishgard and put them together and thought it was the actual city being destroyed but in actual was one of the forts in the concept art. Got all the morning loads done this morning so I'll work on yesterdays translation.

The alpha test is specifically to test the game and not so much a player experience. He expects people to enjoy (in a free play sense) themselves from beta.

Some fantastic news in this article. Crystal Tower at Launch and Ishgard being not destroyed. :)

And I'd agree, seeing the Pre-Alpha state of the Gamescom build, Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 already looks pretty impressive in its Lighting. :) Can't wait to see the final version.
