I'm a bit skeptical of the new look, too, but I will reserve judgement until I see my own character moving around in there. The midlander thy chose looks really creepy, but it could just be a poorly made character.
This right here.
Just because you can make something new and original doesn't mean that it will be received well by your playerbase. Look at many of the changes happening for ARR. They are changing it to conform more for current MMO standards than true originality, because that's what many players are comfortable with.
Well at least by the UI/ Server standards yes, but this is an FF game, that has the most awesome~ist Storylines created, Chocobos, Airships, Moogles All that nice stuff, That stuff is not copied which is awesome ^.^. Other games like wow and ( other copies of that nature) have the same "simularish" story with quests.
This is why I love FF because it always has been original.
Ya, lets add all that stuff, that doesn't make a final fantasy, final fantasy, sure it helps, but no. This game is lacking identity, why do you think its trying to get things from other FF and other mmo. They have no direction in this game.
When I think of Final Fantasy, I think of comradery, that's what FFXI did well in.
Those are very superficial qualities, at the end of the day. There's nothing really original about "story", for example, and sometimes such things work against the concept of a MMO (i.e., putting single-player game features into a massively multiplayer game is somewhat contradictory). Besides, FFXIV: ARR is a self-confessed WoW clone evr since Yoshi said he used it as a standard and will basically copy it feature-for-feature and then be original at some later date, when it suits him. Therefore, FFXIV is kind of as unoriginal as it gets in terms of structure, superficialities notwithstanding.
