So it's better that games stays butchered for all those who have some lag? Talk about selfish, entitled elitism. Bah.

didn't they say it will be fixed in 2.1. wait and see if not fixed then start complaining.

It wasnt fixed in 2.1
What a shame, I was honestly hoping for better news. I guess I'm going to have to stop hoping and just accept the fact that SE won't/can't fix this issue. I really wished SE was going to help players not have their FF adventure cut so short.
So sad really, since I liked many aspects of the game itself. It's like owning a Ferrari with a flat tire you can never change.
In Coil and trials it's much better now. Dodging Eruptions, Plumes and Weight of the Land and laser without many problems.
Haukke Manor HM? Couldn't get out of silly Dark Mist...
I didn't have problems before, and now I really don't have problems. If anything I had to retrain myself not to be so punchy with boss positioning and premoving.
That's what these forums are for. Me taking an "opinion as gospel" would be saying you're nothing but a white knight due to your comment.
Ri_ri's comment seems to contradict your logic of "It was fixed on endgame instances," unless you don't consider certain Hard Mode instances as endgame. As a result, I based my hypothesis on the prediction that SE had fixed (i.e. increased the positioning rate) for instances that people had complained about previously and would be lazy to implement these changes to new instances (due to server inadequacies).
I welcome second opinions greatly and not posts that are a complete waste of space.
Glad you're having no troubles. However, since you did not experience the problem to begin with, your data is excluded from the analysis since it does not help answer the question: "Has the netcode issue been fixed?"
It's not going to be a complete fix. What they did was increase the frequency that the server gets your location. If you are still getting packetloss or latency spikes then it is still possible to get hit by an AOE you were out of.
The increased frequency should result in a visible difference over dodging pre-2.1... but it doesn't fix it entirely.
I had this issue exact issue the entire time I played from beta phase 2 right up until last week when I found a very easy fix. I quit.
Now I'm happy playing other games where the combat isn't broken. Even if they fixed it I wouldn't come back now anyways. I really REALLY wanted to love this game but the end game it's horrendous really.
What people don't seem to understand is that the animation on the ground lasts slightly longer than what the cast time is. You have to be out of the big bad red aoe before the cast time finishes. Also the server side latency delay used to be 300 ms last patch, meaning if you got out of the aoe .301 seconds before the cast timer finished, you actually got hit by the aoe. Now it has been reduced to .100 seconds, which you means you need to dodge .100 seconds before cast timer finishes.
The average human reaction is something like .12 seconds, so 99% of people will never be able to ever see the lag.. that is unless their connection is actually lagging. Only very twitchy people will be able to feel the difference, and even then there is good reason for having the delay at .100. I have gone from getting hit by titan VERY rarely when I was out of aoe (like 2-3% of the time) to never getting hit by any aoe ever because its all a joke to dodge and my connection is good.
The data center change seems to have fixed connections for people in Europe as well, at least from what my friends tell me.
People who still complain about it generally have high latency connections get new isp and if you can't because of location.. stop crying because this is an issue in ANYTHING gaming that requires skill.. please play sc2 with 1 second lag and play at your same level without lag, won't happen, or even be close.
I think the biggest issue facing this game is the camera angle for PS3 users in certain fights right now, walls should become transparent instead of zooming u super close into your character and forcing people to play birds eye.
No matter how hard I try - aoe avoidance is always unpredictable due to lag. Doesn't matter whether it is in Wanderer's Palace or Titan. If SE wants to make aoe avoidance a game mechanic, they seriously need to fix this.
I wonder how many people on this thread are still subbed/playing? (aside from the ones saying there is no problem/it's all intended good design)
if u guys have an isp with high latency to the datacenters u guys are screwed regardless of any software fix on SE's end, unless they decide to put some datacenters closer to where u guys live. In the meantime, try tunnelling services like wtfast to see if it fixes ur latency. Like i said before, if it fixes ur delay. then its ur connection that is the problem.
I'm a bit fed up with all these dodge mechanics. If SE wants to make this game more like an action rpg why couldn't we just have "press and hold" rooting/defensive skills running off a stamina bar?
I'm still paying and playing the game because I really enjoy it even with the high-ping..;
I hope they're not telling themselves that since the game works so well, they don't need to try hard on solving that lag issue
I hate that Demon Wall will still lag on the knock back affect from time to time. Not me really, but a friend of mine all 100% of the time.
The knock back lag is a serious SERIOUS problem. I don't care if it's in AK on demon wall (Even though it can just shoot you out of the arena all of a sudden) but titan extreme is a complete other story. Upheavals god damn knock back lag happens way too late for me and I have to wait, can't move because if I do I'll be knocked backed out of the arena and if I don't move I'll eat a landslide. I'm happy if I am gaold and my party doesn't free me before upheaval.
There is also since 2.1 animation lag for me. I don't even see when a landslide appears until it actually is casted. I'm about to avoid the landslide which just appeared but what's this it's already casted ???. Same to Acheron, his aoes appear on my screen for about 0,20 seconds and then the hit already happens. I have to keep myself stoneskinned because one of his Aoes can hit me twice which is a kill. How am I supposed to ever beat titan extreme if I am in a condition where I really can NOT dodge an attack at all and I can't even prepare myself for it because there is no solution for it. I'm dodging plumes just fine and have no problems solo healing hard mode IF there is no landslide animation lag. I had to get used to the bomb animation lag already please don't make me find other ways to avoid shit just because I am a ps3 player.
I have had that happen numerous of times... it would be nice if it was fixed.
Curious as to what system you are running. Do you have a crappy computer?
I have never had a problem dodging aoe, save a few abilities that require some anticipation to get out of.
I think some people rely on watching other people move out of aoe which = fail. Because you are watching something that has already happened, and will always get hit if you do this.
The other thing its not about where you character is on the screen when the animation finishes, its about where you are when the cast finishes.
I think one of the above issues is the real underlying issue for people. And again rather than blaming the connection, maybe upgrade your hardware.
I have yet to see a ps4 player complain. My system is pretty boss as well.
If they have given 0.5 seconds of additional delay to Titan plumes, it will be much more doable with DF since we do not have to alarm people to ready to run throughout the entire fight.
They have bad netcoding and then want to add more and more content like Titan Ex. Titan Ex is really enraging me. Use to swipe the defects of the game under the table. But the more I wipe in Titan ex, the more I see the flaws of FF14.
Whats even more of a slap in the face is the fact that since day 1 people have been complaining about strange lag/delays in many dungeons, Primals...etc
Yet SE decides to come up with Extreme primals making dodging mechanics even more of an important role to beating a boss.
Sure dodging abilities is fine if this game was like ANY other mmo out there but sadly it isn't.
I am currently on Titan Ex and sure sometimes i get no lag at all for 10mns and sometimes i can't even see the landslide until it just appears right in my face.
So in other words it's pot luck the way it is right now. Imagine getting down to his last 20% and you get lag right then.
Well it's happened to me various times, making this encounter even more frustrating!
And SE of course continues on the exact same path as if none of us on here even exist.. well and the lag all these people are imagining ?
Well, it must be your isp, go fix it....NOT!
Really SE?
I tried Battleping and for Titan HM, the first phase was fine but when the second phase came in, aoe lag made dodging the attacks impossible - it doesn't matter whether visually I dodged the aoe's or not - I still get hit. Quite pointless really. This aoe lag issue cannot be solved solely by tunnelling services.
I haven't been playing for a couple of months, so I was wondering
Have they fixed the latency issues yet?
Yep. Many have had their issues corrected when SE changed the PR from 0.3 to 0.1 however a 3rd party routing they go through (most popular Level3.net) is having issues currently which is causing problems for people who route through them to reach the datacenters.
That is very disappointing. It's pretty much the only problem that holds me from coming back.
Cheers buddy

I've noticed, that there are some cases, where bad compute performance is causing the visibility of effects get shown to late. The last one, I've seen, was using a passive cooled Radeon, that is designed for HTPC, not gaming. If your hardware is not gamers stuff, try to reduce visual effects to the minimum possible values. Good performance test ist, when you enter Gridania from deep wood and run to the adventurer guild. If your fps gets lower than 20, then you should do something to improve your visual performance.
Other thing: When using Battleping, you should try different servers. Not every choice is bypassing the reasons of this issue.
I tried the server that has the fastest ping so the problem is not there (<40ms). Also, my pc is custom built for gaming and its config is more than sufficient to run ff14 at max settings. The ff14 benchmark released by SE went very off the charts. I suspect it is not a ping issue but dropped packets of data. The problem is specific to dodging aoe effects.
I raided in WoW all the way to Pandaria and am familiar with the 'don't stand in the fire' 1-shot boss mechanics - not ONCE have I experienced this type of problem before.
The problem is most certainly SE's.
I would just like to add that if it is SE's intent to include 1-shot boss mechanics then the execution (i.e., timing) mechanics must be *perfect* (i.e., there can be zero tolerance for server or program side errors - not even ONCE). This just makes common sense - you want the players to be fully capable of dodging it (i.e., they are 100% responsible). Given this aoe lag, at least a good portion of players cannot. Hence, SE cannot include 1-shot boss mechanics until they get this sorted. Sorry SE, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
The way I see it, there's only two solutions: (i) remove the 1-shot mechanic (e.g., make it less damaging so that people won't be 1-shotted), or (ii) solve the networking side of it to remove this aoe lag problem. I suspect it might be SE's indecisiveness to take either solution that is resulting in this lack of effort to correct for this as perceived by its subscribers. Solution (i) is perhaps feared by SE that it will make the game regarded by many hardcore MMO players as already easy to become lol-easier and potentially lose their subscription, while (ii) entails a complete overhaul of their programming, which might entail more human hours and downtime and QC checking.
Either way, this indecisiveness to bite the bullet is the worse solution than adopting either (i) or (ii). SE is potentially crippling its own endgame content - not only easy but with the aoe lag issue - unrewarding. Doesn't matter if the endgame content will be available on DF or not - aoe lag still unsolved. It will also cripple future endgame content (limits the kind of dodge mechanics in future boss fights). Planning those for Leviathan? I suggest you can it and sort out this aoe lag first.
