In FFXI, I had only Dark Knight leveled up past 60, and it was difficult to really do the content at that level because I didn't have the time and dedication to level other jobs to 75. As a result, everybody's going "Hur dur, you're not good enough for the party, gtfo" and booting me.

I came to FFXIV because I wanted a more enjoyable experience that would not be a repeat of one of my worst MMO experiences in the last five years.

The way how chain xp works, without a doubt you'll get plenty of levels in a matter of hours. 30-35 in 2 hours is pretty fast.

Ifrit's battle it's not difficult at all. The only skill needed to beat him is Sentinel (GLA L36), and a good team work. The problems that you are encountering could be caused by a bad coordination between party members. I wiped for a long time only because of it...

That sucks, but in any MMO you have to put in time and consider other peoples time as well. That's why you were being booted...It's like not having consideration for the other people that put in that time to be able to do X content.

Maybe you just don't have the time to play MMO's? I mean if you're having a crappy experience....You know do something else for fun, like offline games.

Planning on a break from XIV, starting up TESV: Skyrim, and going on a rampage with the help of mods and dev codes.

My main job (and only 75/95) has been Paladin FOREVER. And anyone who has played FFXI knows how unneeded they are now.

But I play the job because I like it, I enjoy it and it's fun.

That has carried over to XIV with me. I play Gladiator because I love tanking. I have CON and THM at 20 simply because I leveled them when I felt like it. Currently my PUG is at 15, working my way very slowly towards Accomplice and Second Wind II. But you know what?

I can still tank Ifrit without losing hate.

It's all about knowing what your class is capable of without added abilities from other classes. Cadence + Riot Blade and provoking every time the cool down is up will ensure you keep hate. Sentinel, Rampart II and Obsess will ensure your healer doesn't get a cramp from hitting their healing macro.

Apply this line of thought to any job you play. Instead of others telling you what you NEED to beat Ifrit, show them what your class can do without all the frills.

You won't, since you dislike leveling other classes. It's FFT style, e.g:

DRG = Lancer (Requirement 1)
MRD (Requirement 2)
Optional (some had 3 jobs @ x level requirements)

When he realizes he needs more than Dragoon to kill Shiva, expect another thread on the matter.
