But we already have dragoons.
But we already have dragoons.
/Offtopic (kinda): Call it "Aggro Manager". It will only pull and then do your taxes in it's rotation
Did Dzemel Darkhold as a Pala. I was multitasking. IRL. Yes it was a stupid idea. Didn't have much spare time lately so i talked to someone about something while dungeoning. Well... i was slow, had to "BRB" for about 5 minutes and didn't pull eye-dude far enough in. You might think i was the worst group member. You may be right. I was called out on not pulling ahriman far enough in and for pulling too much... although it was someone else who pulled those extra enemies. I didn't pull much since healer mostly didn't heal. A sage that never gives me shields? Okay i guess. Bard was rambling a bit, but i guess he was the only person speaking french. Tried a bit with english. "Pull quiet" :D. After we cleared i was annoyed by RL again and didn't leave right away. French bard stayed and bad mouthed the healer. Well if the bard wouldn't have stayed next to me for the cleave, he might have survived. Sadly Dragoon was gone by the time i commended. Yes i commended bard. Dragoon was the only one doing a good job. Still far from my really bad runs though (both me and others).
Yesterday I got Stone Vigil for my roulette while leveling NIN, the tank was single pulling and I asked "2 packs please", which the tank did but the DRG had something to say "I'm pretty sure that depends on the healer". Everyone ignored the DRG. That's all.
Swiftly added that shitter to my blacklist.
Well, they arent wrong. When Im on WHM I always pay attention to the tank and adjust my own gameplay accordingly, the tank should always do the same. A lot of the time small pulls mean the tank is still getting confidence or they have judged that the healer might still be learning their job. So it wasnt an incorrect thing to say.
You definitely don't need to cure spam in sub-50 content. Especially true if you're a SCH since the fairy can *almost* solo heal some dungeons.
I know man, you're right. I've even lurked enough around here to know better than to even try. Work today was slow and boring, so...
Well that was neat, I suppose. I ran into Reiner doing Abyssos 6th Circle today. Only the second time I've run into someone I recognized from the forum. I didn't notice until after the pull unfortunately and he left before I could say anything, but hey it happened :p
Small thing, I admit, but it amused me nonetheless
Most sub-50 dungeons don't require explicit curebotting even for W2W pulls. More care and attention to tank hp sure, but the healer can at least be DoTing mobs in the process. And stoning one mob is still a mob dying faster, meaning the tank takes less damage. Honestly it all depends on the dungeon, really. Some of them have really non-threatening pulls.
The only heals I throw out in lowbie dungeons, even during massive pulls, tend to come from Eos. Maybe the very occasional adlo if things get super dicey. Anything else is counter-productive and unnecessary tbh, situations where I need to heal spam basically don't happen.
Single pulling and cure-botting? Do you get better drops if you stay in the dungeon for 90% of it's duration?
A healer's job isn't to keep everyone topped off, it's to keep them alive. There's a difference.
Note to selfthat I will always succeed on disobeying: do not jump into roulettes or whatever duties while still waking up your brain.
- Lv90 Roulette as an AST: Dead Ends --- I killed my DRK tank on wall pull before 1st boss 'cause my brain turned off with all that many Gravities. They died when there was only 2 mobs left with 1% HP left so it wasn't that of a biggie. But that green digit from that one Benefic II popping felt even more insulting than ever.
- Expert Roulette as a SCH: Fell Court of Troia --- Look at this b*st*rd (me!) still haven't learned their lesson yet?! Scarmiglione deleted our PLD tank on 2nd knockback, probably from standing on death zone. That was RIGHT after I spent my Swiftcast on a Broil IV so I blindly hard raised him and...killed myself in the process from getting hit by Blighted Bladework. Again, this was at 2% HP left. I bet I gave that SMN a jumpscare for being at top of enmity list and not swiftraising lul.

Coincidentally, you're also the 2nd person to make yourself known about recognizing me in the forum. Makes me feel the world's small lol.
this also means I've spent too much time over here lmao
And we've hit the point where salt is being thrown around over Stone Vigil, of all dungeons. Ladies and gentlemen, the thread has peaked.
Googled 5 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2grq...channel=JorgeX
Stone Vigil with trusts. Player as a healer. Somehow this guy can cast dps spells and the tank doesn't die. Weird
After fully melding my caster gear from top to bottom with the overabundance of materia I had been absentmindedly collecting for months on my new lvl 610 HQ gear from the black market, I decided to test to see if my melding was similar enough to my old 580 max meded out gear, so I decided to jump into a quick lvl 90 dungeon.
I went in as a Black Mage. While casting on the first two grouped up mobs of enemies I didn't notice while tunnel visioning my way to our first two mob's complete destruction that I was standing in a poison puddle. I died before the last few mobs enemiws were downed and I laughed my f*cking arse off, because onoy then did I realize how I was tunnel visioning.
After that, I did my best not to do that again and wound up not dying once after. I think I even got a commendation at the end, too. My memories a bit spotty on that part, but it always feels nice getting that after a dungeon as a DPS, reonforcing that you did pretty good, despite my initial mistake at the start. xD
Ok. Me as healer you as Tank? It's a date :D
If i want to whisper you or search your player i have to go to Cerberus, right? One of us could also search for a group but that would run the risk of getting someone else. Are you on right now? If not when do have time? Actually looking forward to this to see what you mean.
I semi-often play with one of the best dungeon speedrunning BLMs on Crystal, and it's opened my eyes as to how actually okay having DPS and healers pull ahead of you when you're doing W2Ws is. DPS have mitigation buttons, in the case of the aforementioned BLM, they have manawall or whatever it's called, and if they pull ahead of me it accomplishes two things:
1) They bring mobs back to me, which can shave time off of a dungeon run. Yay!
2) I take slightly less damage than their mitigation soaked.
I'm honestly just chill with it at this point. I do it myself, even. For example, if I'm doing my expert on Reaper, I can cycle my arcane crest to be used for shaving time off of a dungeon run and bringing mobs to tanks. They get regen, I get to start DPS slightly earlier, and everyone saves time. It's great! I wish more DPS and healers would start pulling ahead of me in dungeons with their movement abilities.
So I finally decided to just go ahead and pick up reaper and be done with it so I can say I'm 90 everything. So I'm doing one of my roulettes and doing one of the post ARR 50 dungeons. We start off and the tank is wall to wall pulling which is good. I'm DoTing and AOEing everything as we move anyway...then I noticed the tank was dead and I have aggro. OK so the healer will keep me alive right? Nope. Nearly dead so I pop on bloodbath and Arms Length. I even use Second Wind when I got low. Now EVERYONE is dead but me...and then I die. How'd you all die when I have all the aggro? Guess they ate AoEs...
Well I figure hey things can happen...k/m or controller disconnect can happen. We all revive and start again. Wall to wall yet again and I do exactly the same. Yet I have aggro AGAIN...but tank is alive and with stance. He is single targeting. Tank dies, I die, healer and other DPS die. We haven't even cleared the first set of mobs. They start running for round 3...but I've had enough.
"Yeah I don't need this dungeon. Good Luck. I'll just eat the penalty"
I quit the group. Good stuff.
Just ran a Syrcus Tower.
Just before the long cast on Amon finish, the white mage was thinking that it would be a good idea to pull me (Reaper) back behind the ice block that was literally in my range of dash, instead of pulling the DRK who was a new player in this instance.
Trying to say that it wasn't a good idea to save me instead of the tank and that if I died it was my responsibility. Got immediatly flammed because people can't admit that they are wrong instead of right and try starting a fight by pulling me out of Xande range.
Some people really behave like kid.
ARR dungeon roulette - you get all types
I don't mind tanks that pull a lot but dangit, pay attention to the group. Don't just assume everyone is a level 90 in this LVL 50 dungeon.. some are just barely geared for this encounter.
I could be wrong. I'm really new to it but got the gist of it to trigger my positionals. I thought the one single/aoe ability we use that lets us gain additional bar on death was also a dot. Then again who reads tool tips? Not me...I'm a mentor!
