I agree! That's how it was in FF11. At first, a level 35 WHM could solo a T mob, so I'm pretty sure this game will be fixed to be more like FF11 in difficulty, because both games suffered from the same problems at release.
Since the last time I posted, I see the same fail arguments that have already been shot down in the thread. Sorry for not paying all these newcomers attention, but if you said the following:
Archers deserve top DD because they have the least defense.
Archers deserve top DD because they pay for arrows.
Archers deserve top DD because other DDs contribute "roles."
This topic is stupid because some of the game is changing soon.
Your argument has already been thoroughly discredited in the thread several times. Go back and read. That takes care of about five more people. Still wading through the rest for anything *actually* new.
I'm not the one ignorant on archer's power. You are. You think you know the numbers just because you play it? You're biased and subjective. I'm looking at the numbers right now. You need about a 30% reduction in damage. I don't have to play you to see your output. This is yet another discredited argument.
the level of the mob is just a number, the fact is, what you consider an even match is probably 5 levels higher than you, i wouldnt want them to change this because you know how much exp a monster the same level as you gives? like uhhhh 60 exp? maybe 80? you gonna solo your way to 80k exp on that?
Also ffxis system was a lie, for 90% of the game even match meant certain death, decent challenge meant likely death, and easy prey was 50 50. a few jobs could do even matches, after they buffed jobs signifigantly, and at the end of the day that knock out drag out fight was worth 100 exp, wtf.
basically they planned for you to fight mobs higher than you, you were never supposed to see the level so it wasnt really relevant, mobs that conned even match (yellow) were in fact like 6 levels higher than you probably. Its more important for exp determination than you versus them, that the difference in level be as it is.
It worked incredibly well on the last group of archers. In fact, every Tanaka nerf has worked. Eventually. The problem is that Black mages and rangers were so entitled and so broken that it took several nerfs to work. The first nerf...well it just made said population defiantly stick to the status quo.
Nerf hammers work. You just can't dink around with them or the players will resist the attack and keep their broken mechanics and status intact. You have to do what Tanaka did to black mages and rangers. You have to do what Tanaka did to meleers.
Oh it'll work. You saying "it'll never work" is exactly what rangers and black mages have said before you. Keep pushing. See what happens to your posture.
This argument is poor because the people who are arguing for game improvement are assuming the game is eventually not going to be a failure. What you just said is basically why even bother, who cares about this game?
Uh I do. If they actually make the content difficult and good, players will struggle with it. Players will look to answers other than balanced builds that includes everyone and resort to tactics that sidestep diffiulty and only includes certain people.

Lan....no just kidding Thaumaturge.
Sure no one does this because the game is easy. This discussion is for when the game gets hard.
When players USED to resort to these fail setups, Square's official stance was that they encourage players to find unique ways to address challenges. When everyone quit their game but the rangers bards black mages and ninjas, they changed their tune and started beating the jobs that were included in these "unique" setups time and time again with bats.
See, that was Tanaka just spitting in their faces and laughing. You really can't blame the developers for eventually getting angry at black mages. That job concentrated a horrible, entitled, power-hungry group of people who almost ruined that game. So did ranger.
We need to nerf archer and thaumaturge before it gets to the point where it becomes a personal vendetta between the developer and the player. As much as I love to see people who deserve it get pwned, it creates years worth of painful play for the other players.
Those players aren't even worth the satisfaction of seeing them eventually get their asses kicked. Just balance it now and spare everyone the scene.
