I agree. The PR team needs to be fired. No matter their reason to cancel the trailer its just something you don't do. A few days before the biggest even in the industry and also the best chance to promote 2.0 and have pple give it a 2nd look.
Says what you want about E3 but its still the biggest even and the best publicity.
Which means nothing. E3 is way bigger and on television. You hype the game at E3 with a good trailer to get pple curious about it and then you give out details and a playable demo at gamescon.
Nobody will care about XIV by then and their cancellation has already given them bad publicity from the community and the press.
Exactly. I just say a bunch of E3 previews go up recently. The event is already being covered and is still a week away. You just can't beat that kind of free advertising.Quote:

The smartest idea would have been to release the trailer a week ago to generate buzz to try and land on those preview articles, then talk more about it at E3 and plug your new Web site that went live when E3 started.
Alas, all we can do is wait and hope.
I think most reactions upon seeing a trailer without every single detail would be, "seen it before." Then they'd move on and never do anything again with the game. Media will be covering many other games instead of FFXIV should it make its debut there too. On top of this, E3 is in America which usually focuses on shoot-em-ups and that's where most of the press will be.
It's just a terrible idea all-around for SE to try and put info out on XIV. Screaming to deaf ears if you will. They really have to prove themselves and the only way to do that is to pull out ALL of the stops. Gameplay, CG, incredible graphics, proof there is no interface lag, show the PVP content (especially if they were hoping to get the western world), so on and so forth. There's a lot they have to do, most of it they can't quite yet.
Yes it has given them bad publicity from the community and the press that still plays the game and will keep playing. They are not SE's priority because they are not going anywhere and neither are you, they need to not flop and make careful decision for worldwide audiences.
aaand yoshi disappoints again.
At gamescom over 200k people attend, they Flood the info like a baby bottles milk getting sucked dry. People get excited via Most gaming sites, People will see it and headlines such as " SE Floods the gate for 2.0" and people are going to wonder what this "flood is". Its a chain effect. not mention not as much competition at Gamescom, then at E3, and more likely to get a positive response from a failed launched game.
