There is ''different'' enjoyment in this game. Some people RP, some raiding, some do all of it, some people just afk and do a roulette few times a week . What I'm saying is, there is so much a person can accept till it's no longer enjoyable. However, this game is fine to play with 100-200 ping, I've played with worse and it was fine. However improvements will always make something more enjoyable :). Like some people said, it's silly to ''quit'' because they got 20-30 more ping.

I'm pretty sure the Titan issue wasnt caused by my ping at the time but rather my ISP. (it was a crappy military-provided ISP and it was down more often than it was up, but when it was up, I didnt have much issue playing with my high ping. So all the 'Waaaah! I have 100-200ms ping now' cry-babies should really just wait until the servers come back up and then see if it really affects them.

(and yeah, I used a VPN for better routing tables also)

I live in Oregon and my ping went from 108 to 50.

I don't think you understood what I was saying still, gripes are more then just ping.

I would take these tracert and ping results as a grain of salt at best.

Wait about three hours for the servers to (hopefully) come back up before doing anything drastic/crazy/stupid.

In fairness, the 'feel' of latency is relatively subjective. While I agree that people are being drama queens, to an extent, I can definitely tell the difference between 100 and 190ms ping. Hell, I can tell the difference between wired and wireless mice, which is why I insist on wired mice for my computers. My ping to the Montreal servers was relatively low (I'm in Wisconsin), but I noticed input lag there, too. It was most noticeable while Gathering (sometimes I could swing my pickaxe more frequently; other times, there was a noticeable gap between when my last action finished and my next action could begin). I rarely noticed it in combat as well, particularly with things like Cleric's Stance.

That's not to say people can't get used to it, and it doesn't necessarily hinder AoE avoidance, but I don't think it's accurate to dismiss 100 to 190 ping as a trivial concern.

WTFast / Battleping cannot magically improve latency generated by sheer distance. The only advantage these services provide is helping avoid 'bottlenecked' routing points. That can help to reduce problems when, say, Level 3 is the culprit, but it can't resolve the distance-added latency someone in Britain will be facing with this data centre move. It's incredibly disingenuous to suggest these paid VPN services designed for gaming can work miracles; they can't.

This game was designed to be more than playable up to 200ping and even a little over. People are ignorant, their loss.

If i can play GW2 at 100ping I can play FF14 at 82 now. It was nice have the server 4hrs away while it lasted.
