Is everyone ready for BLU to be hardly mentioned in the Live Letter
Who knows, maybe they'll make some general playability changes to it? At the very least I think they should give Blue Mage a basic Job Gauge and rotation... A simple 1-2-3 combo to build gauge that you spend on Blue Mage spells? Perhaps some more traditional Job abilities that interact with Blue Magic? "Halves Gauge cost of Blue Magic", "Increases potency of Blue Magic" (hey look, I found a way for 1,000 Needles to be usable again), those sorts of things... I really don't see why "Limited Job" has to mean it lacks the fundamentals all Jobs have... Limit it in the sense that it can't do certain content because some spells are OP (despite the fact that most stuff is still outright immune to them...), not in the sense that it's just a mess to play...
Well they do already have a pretty simple level 50 rotation. Bristle Song of Torment every 30s, keep up off gaurd, use primal abilities off CD, preferably in the peculiar light window. inbetween there Glower. Its about as engaging as other level 50 rotations but yes they still need to grow it out a bit. Im still a big advocate of putting the instant kill abilities like tailscrew, missle, doom on a Job gauge as OGCDS which fills when you cast spells, then ramping up their success chance on things that are susceptible to them, then making them do potency as compensation if they fail. That way you have to play the job for a chance at then using the death skills, but you still get something out of it if it doesn't succeed, instead of just sitting there and spamming them over and over on things that are susceptible until they work.
Are you trying to summon Explodia the Forbidden One without gathering all four pieces of the party first?
I'm very open to the idea of it being so incredible that I won't want it as a regular job. I just have no idea what kind of content that would be. Also you know, I play the game to do things on my Jobs, so not being able to do Job things on a Job is a very hard sell. We just need to get everyone out in force if the the new content in 5.1 is bad.
One can only hope. They haven't revealed anything yet for BLU and if I'm not mistaken we won't hear anything until 5.1. Sooooo it's pretty much shelved I think by like 90% of the population. I rarely see anyone play it anymore and never see any parties in Party Finder to learn BLU skills.
At this point i dont think a job gets a limited title for being incredible/overpowered it gets a limited classification if it would not be strictly fitting with the current rigid role plans.
based on what shadowbringers info we have on job balance, there is no way they would let a class anything like the current blu anywhere near regular content.
too much cc
too much utility
too much synergy
too many skills
too much situational
too much player agency
they removed astro card effects, reduced gladiators cc potential, removed most dmg type buffs, removed astro gambling.
basically any job concept that falls outside the box would merit a limited status.
that said, they should expand what type of content and what type of goals limited jobs can pursue. Right now, there is too little to actually do with blue, and most of it is made pointless because any at cap charachter trivializes anything it does.
Just gonna kick this back up where it belongs.
BLU got featured in an expansion countdown it can't even play in. One day in the far future it will though. Nice art nonetheless. Though I still hope that it'll become a real job one day.
Hey, remember how they had to give BLU Death and that's why it's not allowed to play the game?
Well, Urianger can cast Death. :^)

Was just having a think, one of the reasons people have been constantly giving for not having BLUs in the DF is they would destroy low level content. But with the addition of dancer, and general potency changes this expac all lowe level instances get handily destroyed already. Food for thought
BLU's dead as was predicted even far back when it was announced. Even for ARR stuff BLU is forbidden by PF, so I guess it's glorified weekly.
Btw Male Viera thread been going far stronger than actual gameplay that matters. If only people were more enthusiastic about a playable job.
I would like to note that I intend to continue fighting for Blue Mage. There's no doubt in my mind that it would have been my first job to level 80 had that been an option. The other day, I strolled into Il Mheg as Blue Mage wanting to see how much damage I could do with Final Sting against a Killer Bee. (It missed both times I tried, for those who are curious.) It was just a bit of fun in my desperate attempt to get as much use out of Blue Mage as I can get.
I know there are many others who will continue the fight. Right now, we're waiting. Waiting for SE to drop the latest side content which they hope will be good enough to satisfy players. However, I don't think we're waiting to see if SE might be right. We're waiting to prove them wrong.
I support it.
But I also support BLU getting more useful skills because the majority of them are flavour text imo. (Stuns, stuns, and more stuns! Oh wait, this one's a five second silence. And then more stuns!) Not to mention it has no real rotation, so it's six seconds (or was it 4 seconds?) cast for at least one spell is a biiiit steep. I'd have figured it'd be more like RDM where some spells took long to cast unless something proc'd it.
That's gonna be a really hard sell for me, if they're trying to get me to be fine with BLU being limited.
It feels like no matter what content they put out, it wouldn't compare to... simply being able to do raids/dungeons/trials/etc in a good ol' party setting with no restrictions.
Posting to show my support for BLU to become a full Job
Has anyone suggested a "Bluelette", a Roulette section solely for Blue Mages to group up with each other?
if theirs another limited job like BLU I dont want it. Its like having nothing because you can't do anything with it
Its been suggested, but SE would probably fire back with the argument of not wanting people to be kicked for not having the spells that would make the roullete fastest, which is one of the reasons why it isnt in the regular df. This wouldnt be an issue if the spells werent rng locked but shhhh.
I support this. I also support them actually putting effort into the job instead of making a bunch of useless status effect garbage and like 5 actual damage abilities.
Long time blue mage fan and what they did to it here almost made me quit the game back when it came out. Actually more dead on arrival than Diadem and that's impressive.
I understand they don't want BLU to rampage through content like it is nothing (if mowing down achievement fates is anything to go by), the least they can do is let BLU be now accessible all the way to Stormblood.
they would probably have to re-work blue in order for it to work in dungeons.
I don't think they would allow some of those skills into a dungeon they are very over powered.
I don't play blue haven't tried it but I seen cousin play it and yeah that job is crazy at level 50 with those skills.
Except its really not that crazy.
White wind is strong but no substitute for an actual healer
Mightyguard isnt really a replacement for an actual tank, but you dont really NEED a tank to run dungeons anyway most of the time
Its DPS output is actually really balanced, its below rdm at 50 playing optimally.
Only thing that really needs looking at is the power behind the self destruct combo (forbid self destruct usage in dungeons) and the instant kill moves working on some bossfights (usually inconsequential ones but hey)
Wouldn't matter, because Blue mage would be marked as a DPS and party finder would come into play imaged 2 tank 2 healer 4 dps and all DPS were blue mage, white wind then diamond to prevent wipe out no beating the team its too much lol
as I said it would need some fixing before it goes to party and dungeons.
Well if they were spamming white wind and diamond back youd probably get beaten by the dps check lol in any content that matters
Edit: stacking all of one class is also a really bad idea due to limit break generation being gimped, as well as losing out on party bonus' losing out even more dps in the long run.
I am happy with how blue mage turn out it not connect to dungeon/raid content it a end game jobs. i would like suggest to you all to come up with mage job that could be new to ffxiv that more am for tank job or dps that isn't blue mage. the honest truth is i happy for limit jobs because add job like beastmaster and puppetmaster. i could see these limit job run dungeon together and such. my suggest is think other job. i like see something that more avoidance tank job that is mage because it hasn't every been done before.
I think i know what youre trying to say, but we're never getting an avoidance tank in this game. Also I'd rather not get limited Beastmaster/Puppetmaster if theyre gonna be as vapid as Blu is. Limited jobs running dungeons together won't magically make up for the fact theyre running old content with no interaction with endgame
