We run two monks in our coil group (working on Twintania) and they put out very solid dps. Looking at streams from our fights I usually see snap punches in the 600-700 range.

Check my pre post link, on 5 min dummy test from all DPS. Monk isn't on the top. You can't find another way to do a fair comparison. Since boss has some mechanic favor certain class. If you can do over 400dps on dummy, you will be on the top. Anything above 200 DPS just medium.
im hittin 790 crit with mercy stroke : P
You mean the thread on target dummies? That's no more of a large sample test than anyone else's anecdotal experience. You can't find another way to do a fair comparison, if everyone was in the same gear....and the same person.
I'm doing 250 on a target dummy for 5 mins, but I'm only darklight geared plus relic+1. I'd love to see some allagan monk post. But not one of the monks that posted were, so the test doesn't really say anything about monks.
The BLM's with 300+ were crazy geared. Not to mention they lose more dps than us when any movement is involved.
Once I get my sim for monks we can get a fair comparison =)
As of now on a stand still backstabbable target, Dragoon eeks out ahead of Bard but not by much, though is much more sustainable TP wise. Bard TP consumption is still through the roof, and I imagine monk will be as well.
Under the same general conditions (stats), my model estimates the following max DPS levels:
DRG: 252.2
BRD*: 244.0
MNK**: 267.7
* Bard estimate does not include Disembowel from DRG. This is roughly a 6-7% increase in total.
** No GL ramp up (start at 3 stacks), no Perfect Balance used for burst or ramp up.
Minor edit: I neglected to adjust the 3 individual stacks of the damage buff portion of GL to be additive since it's 1 buff, rather than multiplicative based on the GL skill speed calculations in the other thread. Net result is a minor downgrade in the MNK estimate.
