Alliance Raid Now iLvl Locked, Why??

That people aren't able to lower ilvl to influence the raid is a fact, however:

-People can still manipulate the raid
-There is nothing to indicate more or less people available for other raids
-We know that the ilvl restriction is locking people out of roulette, and those people may qualify for raids higher than CT

It's still possible that the change has made CT more common.

The MSQ or highest Alliance Raid setting would be an additional qualifier to the level requirement. So it would look at the highest ilevel attainable with either MSQ progress or highest raid unlocked, and the level requirement ilevel setting, and set the restriction at whichever is lower. This way someone further in MSQ or with higher raids unlocked on another class will still be able to queue under the level restrictions on their lower level class. And it still serves to prevent ilevel cheese.

Much greater spread than pre-patch, at least for me.

Same thing's happening to me. I also keep track my own AR pops just out of curiosity. I wouldn't say CT raid pop rate drops significantly, but they definitely are more spread out now.

I'm interested to count up the tally after 4th week and later on.

I like the CT raids and used to do alliance raid a few times a week. people keep asking why a level 90 does them, they give clusters and tombstones. they did a bad job on some of the alliance raids, especially the nier raids.

this is sucks for leveling new toon since CT raids are linked to msq now. I need lab, it used to take up to 10 mins to que, Im currently setting at 35 minutes.

what a very stupid change because when the next expansion comes out, people will just leave the long raids or figure out new exploits to get ct raids.

But we always know they qualified for CT, while there is no guarentee they unlocked any other alliance raid. This is something you fail to understand. Anyone left out is removed from the previous CT pool, while not necessarily anyone who is removed is left out of previous 60+ AR pools.

Also has anyone arguing for "MSQ progression" realized that being way undergeared for your level is indirectly ilvl cheesing?

I transfered to Dynamis - Seraph for my main to get my house. I usually have to go back to Aether dc just to do my dailies and pvp because there's a longer wait time compared to back on Aether. Come back on the weekends to check inside my house for retainers and snapshot my character in the house via server and fc chatting. Is this just a casual observation though? I don't think you're lying or anything, but without recording what actually happened before, there is a lot of room for error.

If you look at the full list from reddit you can find strings of non CT runs before the change similar to yours.

I'm not forgetting this. We don't know who exactly is being excluded from the roulette and how many raids they would qualify for (outside of CT obviously). So it's possible that everyone excluded qualifies for high level raids and so because of their exclusion, the instances of CT go up.

That is not very likely to be true, but I'm not trying to say that is what we're experiencing. I just want to point out the boundaries of what is possible.

Most people asking for a MSQ check want it in addition to ilvl don't they? So there would be no cheesing involved.

Even if there was, I don't see any reason to care if it's true that ilvl manipulation rarely caused a CT to run, which appears to be the case. CT being a required raid is a bigger problem than ilvl manipulation ever was or ever could be, and if people want to force themselves to run some of the worst content in the game, it doesn't bother me.

No, it’s not as the raids for which the gear is needed are locked behind MSQ too.

For example, if someone is lvl 70 and above and still in HW or the middle of Stormblood, they can only do CT and Shadow of Mhach. They can’t unlock the Ivalice raids even if they want to before completing the 4.0 Stormblood MSQ in its entirety, regardless of level.

The same goes if you have a player that is still in ShB but has reached lvl 90: even if that player buys Diachonos gear, they can’t even unlock the 90 raids. There is zero chance of having a lvl 90 raid pop. The lvl 90 gear changes nothing to that fact. The most they can do is the Lvl 70 Ivalice raids until ShB is finished. They will only be able to unlock Nier (lvl 80) when they finish the 5.0 MSQ in full and they will have to wait to have completed 7.0 to unlock the Myths of the Realm series.

Lvl 90 gear shouldn’t be required if all a player can unlock is lvl 70 raids. What they should be required to have is lvl 70 gear with a sufficient iLvl to enter those raids (the highest lvl raids they can actually unlock).

Having a check for both the job level and the MSQ progress is what they should have done. Players can’t do content of a level that is of higher level than their MSQ progress in this game. The only exception I know of is Unreal as the Faux Hollows unlock is a lvl 80 quest which becomes available at the end of ShB ( a lvl 90 player who has finished ShB can do Unreal with appropriate iLvl gear even if they have not started EW).

I'm sure I've said this before, but I guess for me, I see roulettes as a "I'm willing to do whatever content people are currently trying to do". You're choosing to help someone that wants to complete the raid and being rewarded for it. If you really want to play a specific raid, then you will end up being the person that people in the roulette are helping. That's sort of the whole point of roulettes.

Also, all it takes for CT to be chosen for all 24 people is for a single person to only have CT unlocked. 23 players could have every raid unlock and it wouldn't matter.
