I'm confused. If you can level off it, not saying you can just using your example or the example from the person you are replying too, what does it mater if you can use it? What do you mean by use it? Use it in a receipe or equip it as the piece? If you mean to equip who cares? You're not trying to equip it. If you mean to use in a receipe why would that matter? You said you as crafters would lose the ability to level up your crafts because they would be removing the primary items you can easily make to level on. So is what you all are saying is, you will lose a total aspect of being able to level off the small stuff? I seriously doubt that as I know at least up to R30 there is plenty of small items that I'm sure would still be around. Just not the intermidite parts such as sleeves you guys use to use. All you have to do is find another item to take the place of those items right?
I doubt when this systems is implimented they would totally screw the players and leave you no way to level other then whole pieces of gear or weaps.
I can try to explain this. Take this example:
Buffalo leather is a rank 28 synth. Dodo leather before it is 18. Now in between those are things like buffalo leather straps, which are level 21. At 18, you can't make buffalo leather, so you can't grind on it. But if they take out the grind parts (the buffalo strap at level 21), suddenly that leatherworker is forced to grind on finished items which take many more materials and much more shards to make, plus they fill up your inventory super quick.
In the Leather Craft all Items made with a given leather are lower level synthesis than the leather its self. So you can level on Leather for 3 levels every ten levels but then it is no longer viable for SP and unusable for other leveling synths.
As far as they aren't going to leave players without a way to level. Did you not see what they did to DoL and DoW last update? 500 SP leve bonuses and Agro Mobs swarming gathering points. It's not something they do on purpose but it's pretty obvious they don't think about preventing it.
I see it as a single step in a much larger plan. Crafting should be simple but expensive and reward via benefits in economy and unique character development. It should not be complex. Sure, you can say some of these problems dont fix the problem, but they are heading in the right direction. Down the line, hopefully the problems will be fixed.
I can only half agree with you. Leveling crafting should be simple but it should not be boring. Making basic armours and weapons should be fairly simple if not a little complex. But epic gear should not be simple. It should be rare and incredibly complex calling for materials from multiple Crafts as well as possible sub crafts. There is no reason to dumb down every recipe and leave the crafting community nothing to strive for.
