Missing Genders: A request for Male Miqote, Female Highlander, and Female Roegadyn

Female Roegadyn? This is only going to end in disappointment. She's going to be so ugly... I can't imagine this going anywhere positive. I do not support this part of the suggestion. As for the others, it sounds interesting.

If I'm not mistaken there was a female Galka in FFXI and she looked like an ape, in my opinion. I mean, I'm pretty sure she was a female Galka... She had on a dress, I think. Actually, the more I think of it, Maybe it was just someone's .dat file swap that they made when file editing. Either way, it's been many years since.

I guess some people are into that kind of thing.

I am all for these new options to be added. I wouldn't change my character but I was sad to see there was no female highlander or male miqote. For those who say 'ugh female highlander would be ugly' we don't all want to play some super-skinny-pretty-smiley female character. A bit of brute strength aint a bad thing on a woman! haha. You can be muscly and still look good. Female Elezen was the closest I could get to looking a bit more tough.

Also wow people 'Female Roegadyn goes against the lore' have you read the Roegadyn description page? D: this isn't FFXI, even NPCs in game mention female Roegadyns. I'm sure SE said they WANTED to add them but didn't have the time to make/complete them, which is evident by the description page. I think we will see NPCs of them in the future.

There was never a female counterpart to Galka.

And because of things like Sexual Dimorphism the female of the Roegadyn race doesn't have to be some ugly betty freak like everyone keeps assuming.

I'm not gonna look through the thirteen pages of replies to see if anyone already said this, but for miquote, at least in XI the females were the dominant sex, and the males were kept around specifically for breeding. IIRC

So being a Male Miquote seems out of the question.

Just wanted to mention, there's an NPC in-game who mentions an item named after a Roegadyn lady who's looks are adored by all. So, yeah, I imagine female roegadyn are probably of a slim, muscular type (think just about action movie heroine), strong but beautiful.

This isn't FFXI. The lores are NOT the same Haku Taku

i dont care if they add them or not at all.
What i do care is if they even have a bit of comun sence they would focus on what is important right now and not on fluf stuf like this , adding this would add nothin to the game in its current state.

The same goes for the players, get real , asking this type of stuf now is wasting your time and the devs time.

Releasing these around the FFXIV PS3 release could possibly boost sales, but right now I'm sure SE has other things on their mind before they begin to think about adding these genders or simply just new races.

I agree with your original post, by the way. Focus should be on more core aspects and less aesthetically pleasing aspects.

i really would love to see male miqo' tes :< (even if catgirls are way more sexy/cute xD )

Highlanders do have females, I can't remember the justification however, Roegadyn.. okay I don't think they got anything yet. But Miq'ote? Pretty clearly explained at one point, though I forget exactly where. It might have been an interview or one of the race info publications, though I think it was an NPC I spoke to early on in my first visit to Ul'dah.

Miq'ote are supposedly very solitary and territorial by nature. Thematically, very few have much to do with the civilisations at large and tend instead to roam large areas in small numbers or alone. Females are a little less so, males on the other hand are rather moreso. I forget where I read all this, but it ended with, 'Only female Miq'ote have taken interest in living in the cities so far.'

Thematically, the Miq'ote gender ratio, population-wise and unlike Final Fantasy XI's Mithra, is actually more or less balanced. Their males are just a lot more solitary and territorial by nature than their females, and a bit feral.

Its really is sad I have to keep posting this. Any time someone says "There is no lore supporting Female Roegadyn" it just means they never even read the first post of the thread and it makes them look foolish.

I'm all in favor for male Miqo'te, female Roegadyn, and female Highlander.

I honestly cannot understand some of you people who assume that the demand for these missing genders is priority. I'm pretty sure most of us know that SE has far more important things to worry about.

And just to help out the OP, because some of you are obviously selective readers:

-Male Miqo'te, female Roegadyn, and female Highlander have been mentioned in the lore AND do IN FACT exist.

-Tanaka has mentioned in one interview that the models for male Miqo'te and female Roegadyn have been completed but were not sure and/or indecisive of their implementation.

-FFXIV =/= FFXI. FFXI's lore does NOT apply anymore. Devs have said it countless times that FFXIV is a different game and just recycled the races from FFXI for easier transition over to FFXIV to remake your character or just for familiarity sake.

All we're asking is for some closure on the status of these genders. It be nice if they add them eventually. It adds diversity.

I am all for it ^.^ Anything that would add more uniqueness to the game plus it will make a lot of people happy. New playable races would be nice too, like Viera.

I been looking for a fat/ugly chick to play as in a mmo for years (not those re-skined humans with tiny under bite "female orcs" from WoW), plate mail thongs and female characters that look like J-pop singers are played out.

Yes, some of us do actually want a muscular woman to play as.

We're the same people who played Female Taurens, Orcs, Trolls, Dwarfs in WoW
The Female Orcs in Lineage 2
And many other muscular female races from previous MMO's and single player games.

I never thought any developers would come up with the idea of partially gender-locked race/classes, so yeah +1 for this idea.

I'd love to play with a female Highlander, if it was not an ogress, but
some kind of barbarian warrior girl ...

even though I would never play as any of those combinations of gender/races, I completely support this thread. I mean, at least in ff:xi only male galkans were explained in the lore, but male mithra were said to exist so I'm sorta confused why they wouldn't put in male miqote.

Yep, I'd like a definitive answer from the dev staff myself.

I love this idea and I would like to see the missing genders. Though im sticking with my current character unless they add more creating options.

Yeah, Roegadyn are explained in the lore too, Female Roegadyn exist. Its in the game that they exist we just haven't seen them because they haven't been implemented yet.

male mithra was "kinda" explain by lore (which they broke) that they made mithra act like lion prides where the lions sat at home with the cubs while the lioness hunted for food.

but ya please add them or give us a straight reply. Or even ad them in the first expac

lol np i want the missing genders just as much as you do :P, it would add so much more variety to the game and would also shut people up about FFXIV being a FFXI clone.

Also you might want to add dev tags to the title so the devs have a higher chance of looking at it.

I wouldn't mind seeing these in FFXIV...

I was actually hoping for them in FFXIV seeing it was a new world, new lore and so many people asked for them constantly in FFXI. I was quite surprised when, once again, we didn't get them even though it would have been easy for them to add them since they did say the models did exist.

If they do add them in at a later time they should give people the option to change their race while keeping stats and ranks they have already gotten in the game. Some might want to re-roll but some might not find it worth it, so I don't think it would be fair to add new races or new sexes without offering people the chance to change.

Well there is only one race in my opinion that could use the other gender. That's the Mithra....Whatever their XIV name is! lol! I kind of like the mysteriousness of where Roe'Gaydn come from. Finally I don't resemble a lizard like I did in XI, so I'm happy about that. The other race posted I guess I wouldn't mind.....Who was it, the Hyur or whatever race those humes are? Haha, I'm so bad at the names in XIV. As for Roe'Gaydn: No thank you. I like the mystery of their origin.

Which mystery are you refering too?

The one that states that both Men and Women of the race are seafarers and competent Fishermen. Or the ones that state some of the Maidens of the race have become rich and powerful and are known for their beauty? There is lore in game. IN GAME, that states Females of the Roegadyn Race exist.
