Can someone tell me why everyone is upset about the logout timer?

I don't understand it at all. Nearly every MMO has a system for auto logging people. In FFXI you could turn it off but that was needed because of the bazaar system. There is no reason to create extra load on a server and use up bandwidth while doing nothing for 30 minutes straight.

The only thing i can see to why this was implimented now is so SE can save some money and push the server compacity even further. Meaning lets just say a server can hold 6000 @ any given time. So they actually have 8000 that are registered for that server all together. But since only 6000 can be on @ once, they need to get rid of the people that aren't actually playing but are taking up space. Just seems very cheap and in poor taste to me but w/e, the white knights and fanboys cried so here we are now. Now we just suck it up or leave. And i know what i'll be doing. :)

Yet no one is waiting in line. How much time has to pass until you realize that the full world errors were corrected. This is not an issue anymore.

I'm just wondering, did anyone who's saying "there aren't any more issues" bother to read Yoshi-P's post from yesterday?

Then what is your problem with a 30-minute kick for complete inactivity? How hard is it to simply move your character a step forward, once per 30 minutes, just to register that you are still there? Push W key, problem solved.

Being logged out is not a "punishment," it is a measure taken to improve server stability in general. If it didn't contribute to that in some way, they wouldn't have implemented it.

You are free to log back in, any time. And if the "world being full error," as you call it, has been "corrected," then surely logging back in will pose no problems. It only takes a few seconds.

No one is waiting in line because they closed off the parking lot and aren't letting anyone else in. They suspended digital sales until they had stopgap measures in place. When they resume digital sales, and when transfers are available, there will most likely be lines again. The feature is still needed.

30 minutes is plenty,

the last day I went and made dinner for myself and when I came back I wasn't logged out.

As someone said it's not like it's a punishment dismissal from the server, FFS just log back in.
Since the expansion I haven't seen a single 1017 error. I;ve only ever got the queue, and I've never been waiting for more then 30 seconds to log in.

There is no justifiable reason to be AFK for 30+ minutes. A toilet break, getting a drink, even making a quick snack take less time than that. If you are doing something longer then it's probably time to take a short break anyway in terms of occupational health and safety. The idea of logging on is to play after all. Hopefully it will boot the gil spammers as well. It does have a useful purpose.

Well it is now a pointless system that was placed in game to solve an issue that only new servers and capacity would solve.

And its not like if the servers ever get locked again that the same afkers wont just run an auto click script to skirt the afk kicker.

So, yeah its a pointless system that doesn't work, that is now in game to solve a problem that doesn't exist, and if it did exist wouldn't have solved the issue.

Doesn't bother me so long as im not kicked every smoke break or bathroom break I take.

But it was placed in game as a reaction to low-information complainers as a feel good fix rather than a functional fix....that's the only issue I have with it.

As I've said many time already, it's not pointless. I still get placed in queues 9 times out of 10 and there's still Japanese servers that give the dreaded World Full errors. Just because it's no longer terrible here doesn't mean everything's hunky dory. It's something that we're going to just have to get used to if we're to keep the servers running smoothly, which is vastly more important that the minor inconvenience of having to log back in after extended AFKs.

This is the first Ive heard of anyone complaining about it.

If you got logged off while waiting for the duty finder, then you more than likely would have missed your duty anyway since you only have a set time to respond to that.

i just got autokicked while waiting on the duty finder. i would of heard it since i was playing on my vita while waiting. instead i heard the start screen theme...
