Basically the stuff they want to implement now is system stuff mostly, testing what they can do, make things smoother. If its just the black shroud they're planning to change and it they're planning to change it to make it look like the other places (i.e., everything still looks the same, no differentiation between areas, at least not much) then they've failed because it'll be cool for a couple days and then get boring as hell just as Thanalan and La Noscea did...if however they're making major changes to the zone and introducing them one zone at a time I'm excited but I doubt this is what's going to happen. We all know all the areas need changing and I don't think SE cares.

I honestly wouldn't be surpised if we end up teaming up with the Garlean Empire at some point. Do we even know what their agenda is? What they are searching for an why? We don't know a lot about them all I know is they don't like the beast tribes and anyone who deals with them.

What if it is the Beast Tribes who bring about this 7th Umbral Era that we seem to be heading towards and all the Garleans are trying to do is stop it. Yes long shot I know, but it wouldn't be the first time SE has fooled us by making the bad guys turn out to be the lesser of the 2 evils. They could just be trying to take drastic measure to prevent something from happening to protect their people for all we know really.

I hope this is the case because then it means we will get to go to Garlean Cities at some point ^^

I'll second that for allowing people to explore this content and not revealing it through data-mining. Some of us like exploring and discovering lore still. In fact I already have a party planned to go out after work for this :D

Y'all may want to be careful with the DAT-speak. Accessing them directly is a violation of the User Agreement. Announcing that you have accessed them on Square-Enix's official forums might not be the wisest thing to do.

So I personally am speculating that those rock things, are stasis/petrified tonberrys, that degenerated from Wildlings of the forest curse if left uncured turn into tonberrys. Those stones are stasis long cursed tonberrys that are in stasis to be on the beck and call of the forest to fight any intrusion of the forest. So I think with the coming attack of the Garlean empire they will wake up and start stabbing people.

I'm so excited for this. I feel like a huge in-game event is about to unfold and change Eorzea. Feels like they've been holding off and so scarce on info lately because they don't want to spoil all the stuff that's about to change for the game and the content. I want to assume that the devs had this content laid out and they're waiting to get all the bugs fixed and the game polished before they launch the event. Because something like that is going to happen once and probably change the whole game from that point on, so they need to do it right the first time.

Well said... and we all know how close the first battle patch is xD May is going to be HUGE for FF 14 imo :D

I'd be willing to bet that the first new battle system changes will be put into place within the next couple weeks (possibly before the 9th). Then after that is the start of the war events etc..

They're not going to destroy Gridania. They are just adding more NPC quests in the area.

Well what do we know so far? Battle system should be coming next patch, at least a part of it anyway. Dev's promised a dungeon to be ready for when the battle system launches. Now we have a shady figure predicting some very bad things are about to happen, possibly world changing.

Finally all the waiting and hoping may be about to pay off ^^

actually, yea there is nothing strong suggesting that they are going to do a major overall and change of the already existing zones, the post about it was kind of vague, and they didnt say what they were reviewing them looking for, other than to make walking better, it might be behind the scene stuff for jump or somesuch thing, and no reason to think if they are doing it, that this information is leading up to it, it could just lead to a dungeon, or the battle change, or jobs or something.

Definately hoping it leads to something, and is somewhat involved in the game world. Having a major game world change tied to actual in game events, and what we do would be awesome though

Possible that this "event" will focus primarily on the conclusion of the Hatching-Tide, as it pertains to the Archons.

Do you think the Archons might be involved?

That's not what history teaches us at all. Considering we've never really had this sort of situation happen before, I'd suggest we expect the best, but prepare for the worst.

I also thought it could be related to an event. Remember, YoshiP spoke about a Japanese national holiday in early may that they planned an event for in a letter from the producer:

"Even so, this still won’t make up for all of the time lost from our original schedule. As a result, unfortunately, we’re going to have to forgo the event planned for a national Japanese holiday in early May."

Does anyone have an idea what this holiday is, and more importantly, if it could make sense with the "letter" that was published on the lodestone today?

If great troubles were expected we would probably be reading a communication between city leaders, not a low profile article in Gridania local journal. Well that's my guess

GOLDEN WEEK! seriously thats what the holiday is called and it lasts like a week or 2.... a lot of businesses and banks close during this time, its like a national spring/summer break lol.

More precisely, it was for Children's Day on May 5th, which is a part of Golden Week.
