New Classes

Warrior, Monk, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage, Paladin, Dark Knight, Ranger, Beastmaster, Bard, Dragoon, Samurai, Ninja, Summoner, Blue Mage, Corsair, Puppetmaster?, Dancer, and Scholar.

Joking aside, I wouldn't mind if they did add some of the Traditional Classes to the game, instead of hacking them up and stitching them together....

But if I wanted a new job, I'd have to go with Blue Mage or Dancer. Those were fun.

(Spoiler Alert), I don't think we'll have Summoner, due to the storyline implications. They'd have to seriously pull it out of their....

Really, REALLY would like to see Samurai, and see it as a DD class. I like sword-wielding characters, but the Gladiator isn't exactly my cup of tea. I still play it because I like using a sword that much, but I'd rather not be a tank or carry a shield.

Well Bahamut's kinda dead, and Ifrit, Titan, Leviathan, and the rest of the traditional summons that were born from the last breath of Bahamut are all the primals worshiped by the beast tribes.

That was all datamined way back when the original development team was making the game. All of that is subject to change now. They've probably already made plans to remove most of that.

Arcanist and Musketeer guilds are around so they should come out soon.

I would like to see a gunblade class. If the empire gets 'em, why shouldn't we. I don't know what the class would be called, but hey, you got your close up DPS, and you can use bullets in range/offhand. So why not.

all of you must be dreaming, they haven;t even balanced and fixed the current classes yet and you think they are going to add new classes? lol

I never said it was a good fit. I said I doubt it. Leviathan and Bahamut are way too massive to be summoned lol. (unless altered)

I dont see why it has to be those exact summons. I'm up for completely new summons.

Nothing wrong with the size. Have you noticed the towns, caves, etc. all have rather large headroom? Have you noticed the Buffalo NM is rather large? A lot of players kind of like the larger mob alterations in game as well :D

Note 1: I don't remember you saying anything about doubt being based on the size.
Note 2: This was also in reply to other people who agreed that Summoner was illogical based on the fact that the Summons were "in the storyline as Gods".

I would like to see the following jobs:

- Summoner (Big surprise huh? LOL)
- Geomancer (DoTs and cast "Stonehenge" around party to keep adds off.)
- Time Mage (Reverse you, your party, or mobs actions?! WIN!)
- Beastmaster (Remade better than FFXI version: YES I KNOW that's almost impossible to think BST could be better xD. This was my main in FFXI. LOVE the job!)

Samurai would satisfy me.

My guesses are:

-Summoner(might be connected to Guardian deities and the Primals(Still a Hunch))
-Musketeer(There's a Guild of it already in LL)
-Arcanist(There's a guild of it in LL too)
-Gunblade User(Garlean Empire uses it, also mentioned in some quests)

Samurai, or Ninja would be great too.

Massive size isn't really an issue for a summoner class, because summons tend to be powerful astral beings. This means that size isn't set in stone for them, they can adjust it as needed. heck, they can probably alter their appearance as well, and in FFXI the beings you summoned weren't actually the being itself, but it's avatar, a sort of projected image that did it's dirty work for it. Actually calling the summon itself, like the hero of windurst did for fenrir, grants you incredible power that the avatars can't compare to: think level 500 fenrir or something: but in exchange it costs incredible amounts of magical energy by the caster and basically kills them.

If beings in this game are anywhere near similar in power magically, they could probably also create avatars of themselves, and so size could be adjusted to fit the game.

Well there is a quest that Ifrit commands you to summon 1 of the creatures which sis Garuda if I remember.

Going the traditionally route I'd love to play as my summoner again, just like everybody else.

But thinking outside the box:

Dragoon/Wyvern Rider- You can fight side by side or choose to ride on, the Dragon of your elemental choosing. ( The Riding on would be similar to that of the Eidolons in FFXIII)
Beast Master/ Blue Mage/ Shapeshifter - instead of Charming or learning the Mobs moves you're able to become a mob.
Dark Sage/ Necromancer- (This could very well be what Arcanist/Mystic is suppose to be)
Light Sage/Cleric- (This could very well be what Arcanist/Mystic is suppose to be)

Because it's a lot easier to balance if classes buff themselves, rather than having one dedicated class to do it (plus, you don't have to burn a party slot on a buffer). It's much easier to tune on a job-by-job basis, to keep every DD on an even keel, and doesn't require accounting for a huge variety of outside buffs that have to be accounted for (e.g. difference between no BRD, one BRD, two BRDS, BRD+COR, and whatever songs/rolls might be selected (which might well not benefit all jobs equally, requiring some compromise or one or more jobs getting suboptimal buffs)).

And, if I'm honest, when I think about job roles, I really only care about activities done at the level cap. Could be small man, could be large groups, but I frankly don't give two craps about XP party. That said, if there's one job every single party is better off with at every single level, it's BRD. If that's not poor game design, I don't know what is.

Plus, how can it be a terrible breakdown, as those are the 3 major archetypes for any MMO. Buffer would be #4, but can easily be incorporated into the first 3. For FFXI in particular, BRD almost becomes a 5th, because it is so incredibly valuable compared to any other class, in any situation. Every other job can be replaced with very similar end result, except for BRD.

From what I have seen and played of the game it looks as though the developers are attempting to change the roles classes play. What this means is that any class suggested must be able to fill multiple roles in the party, and while there should be class uniqueness it should be more in the theme of the class than the role of the class. Classes should have both a main role, but should have more variability. Also most abilities of can be used by other classes, which must be taken into account.

Anyways, some of what I would like to see as future classes.

The Massive Sword Man
Weapon: Two Handed Sword
Style: DoW
As with any character that uses a two handed sword, the first concept that comes to mind is a damage dealer. One way to give such a character diversity is to add things like Debuffing. Either way the two handed sword is a staple of any game with medieval style weapons and thus should be added.
I would give such a class abilities similar to the Astral Damage abilities of the Paladin, only with Umbral Damage. I would also give such a character Breaks such as Auron in FFX.

The Elementalist
Weapon: Unknown
Style: DoM

a portion of the game is directed at specializing in a element. The theme of the elementalist class would take element specialization a step further.

Enspells: Magical buffs that augment damage output have yet to be seen in the game. Not only could enspells further the idea of specializing in a specific element, it also provides satisfaction for those looking to play a character combining sword and sorcery. Enspells could be self-target magical buffs that are affected by the character elemental statistics.

Elemental Forms: A continuation of the idea of elemental specialization, elemental forms would have a number of benefits (and weaknesses) corresponding to a specific form. The forms could further increase the affinity for a certain element while lowering the rest. In addition, special abilities could also be added.

Other Abilities I feel should be added.

MP surge:
there is Speed and Life surge that absorb HP on hit, why not something similar that drains MP on hit. A FFXIV version of Aspir Drain.


Pets:
Pets can unbalance any game they appear in, unless of course, everyone has access to the same pet at all times. What this means is that there are a number of ways pets could be implemented in FFXIV and still keep game balance.

1. Give pets to everyone.

This can occur in a variety of ways.
One way could be implementing DRG style pets in a way similar to the companions in FFXI. this would be pets that are available to everyone, which you must go through some sort of quest to get, do not cost MP to maintain, and could have different abilities for different pets.

Another way to implement this would be to give one class the ability to summon a pet, with that single job increasing the abilities of the pet, while having normal combat abilities. Other classes would also be able to summon such a pet. This maintains the balance with the other classes that have normal combat abilities plus some sort of minor specialty. Issues with such an implementation include the possibility that everyone would then need to level the new class to even the playing field. Again, such summons would need to not rely on MP or else they will hinder DoM classes, but not so much DoW.

2. Implement pets specific to a single class, such as puppets to puppeteers and so forth. In order to maintain a balance, the character with the pet would then be nerfed so the combined master-pet could be equal to other classes. Issues with this might be a lack of abilities useable by other classes.

I personally favor the idea of questing to get pets, as that would be the easiest to implement and balance, as well as allowing for Add-Ons specific to pets, such as giving pets equipment.

My Final note is a suggestion for this thread. There are many concepts that are behind a single class name. It would most likely be more helpful and clear to explain the concept you would like implemented rather than simply the name.

I'd like a Holy Knight.
I know Paladin is somewhat close to that but I would like it to be more of a mix of DD (strong swordskills and holy spells) and buffer compared to FFXI tank.

In truth I wish they would bring back the jobs from FFXI and add Geomancer, Morph, Necromancer and Assassin.

Well, right now I think they should change the classes they have and give each class more unique abilities. The way it is right now every job is like a combination of several jobs and no one is different. I would love to see some more oriental jobs like samurai and assassin/ninja.

A Chemist was basically a use button. It would be an interesting class. Particularly because right now it is so hard to use poitions and such in battle. If a chemist class had a use button and could throw a variety of potions doing various stuff it would be something different.

Also I would like to see Con split into a healer and a DD. I think then you can do what is currently needed and make the classes different from each other. I would also like sentinal to be its own class. If you have a sheild you become a sentinal. Also turn Glad into Samurai.

Multitasker class, < Can i have it? >

...seriously... if i could pick 2 most wanted classes right now it would be THF or SMN. (But...i can wait)

Kk here's some of my crazy ideas. (hopefully no one suggested these yet)

Gathering Classes:

Treasure Hunter:
* Main Hand: Shovel (dig for treasure)
* Off Hand: Key (unlocking chest obviously)

Florist: (lame name but couldnt find better)
* Main Hand: 1-hand (small) Scythe / Cutting tool (Find plants / Seeds / Soil to plant in pots)
* Offhand: 1-hand (small) Spade (unknown, digging up stuff?)
(Obviously, pots etc need some kind of housing so, bring on the company houses)

Craftclass:

Enchanter: - Mainly to enchant Weapons & gear with bonus stats, Signtures for crafted items.
* Main Hand: Infusing tool??? (to infuse enchant to gear / weapon)
* Offhand: Carving Needle. (For inscribing Signatures to Weapons & Gear, like FFXI's signature crystals)

I would like to see a Gardening Class. It would be nice to be able to grow my own produce. I would assume this could be incorporated in a town gardening location or mog house or guild house.

I'd like to see most of the jobs from FF Tacics Advance, and Dark Knight as an advance class for MRD! :D

I don't know if there exist any crowdcontrol(CC) class in FF.
I but as FFXIV is a PvE game I think it could have a CC class.
A class that is focused on controlling the enemy would be a greate fun to play.
This could be done i lots of diffrent ways: physical controll or mind controll.
It could be tide to elements like wind and ice.
It could be done with net and webb.
So the grafic could look realy diffrent depending on what fit's FF.
The effects of CC can be realy varied:
single target; multi target; tied to the ground.
Works as long as you don't hit them; work even if you damage them;
Gives bonus on attack for the poeple that atack them (or no bonus)
Make targets unable to move, but can still use ranged attack (or total imoble)
Just naming some of the possible variations.

I dont know why most people when they hear about "what new classes u want" they talk about "old" classes from FFXI.

I would like to see something brand fresh and new, that we didnt see in any FF before.

But i get your point guys, some of old FF classes would be nice to see here too!
