Then, you could look to additional content upon future patching. At that point you could implement a FF10 type summon system where you are shown riding the summon and take direct control. Obviously, the summon would still be much smaller than the primals that you fight through the game, but it would allow you to assume direct control. Now, each summon would be like a change of class. Each one could remain a damage focus so that the role was never altered, but the ability focus would change play style based on who you brought out.
Just some productive thoughts here as I was really looking forward to playing a summoner. I think the benefit to these ideas is that they could be made to the game without too much reworking of the existing structure. From reading other threads that have achieved developer support, it is that kind of productive suggestion set that we need to be looking at if we want this to get better.
