Say yes to Cross-world group finder

stop using myths from WoW as a "valid arguement". I played WoW before and after cross server stuff. Game never really changed. Most grouping happen in guilds people before and after think pugs are bad.
And no one really talked in groups in WoW either way.

So after all, all the problem people mention on cross-server is just personality stuffs that can either happen or not depend on the person himself/herself.

Why do you have to think for the other? if he is that kind of silly kid, then just let him show his true-self? just blacklist him no matter if he is from different server or not. or tell your friends of the name so that your server people who feel the same to you all boycott him or something? Bad rumor always goes fast anyway.

But the main thing I want to say here is that each person just do best on himself is enough. There is no need for anyone to think of what other person will do...

I play largely solo, so few would benefit from a cross server LDF more than me, and I agree with Dreamer's points. It's not the not talking part that concerns me, it's just the flat-out rude, accountabilty part. There needs to be a way to blacklist someone across server, so that if he/she makes your blacklist, they will not be put in your pick-up group again. That way, someone who is rude could find themselves waiting for a group a very long time.

I did not read the whole thread, but I want to put my opinion out there, because up until now I was fairly happy with where FF14 was looking forward to the future. I think it is a huge mistake to put in cross-server grouping, very big mistake. I played WoW and used the cross-server dungeon finder many times, it's not something I would want to see implemented here. It's almost a game breaker for me, maybe it is one. I might go so far as to say, if a cross-server grouping method appears in this game I will quit. It's that bad.

The community on WoW sucked. A big reason for this is cross-server grouping, because why care what anyone thinks when you know the chances of you ever seeing that person again are slim going on none, and if you do see them again what does it matter you are not on the same server. So you run into people ninja'ing gear, treating other people like crap, ruining game time for everyone else. I've seen it a thousand times on WoW dungeons. Please SE do not implement this feature.

This is how I felt with WoW as well.. what sucked was the fact that if you did like the person the odds of playing with them again are slim. how can you make friends with other people from other servers?.. there was no point in making friends, there was no communication it was "lets just get this done quick".

I would hate to see this cross server thing happen because I feel that the community will be greatly damaged. Less communication, less friends, and harder TO make friends. Best place to make friends is from groups. Ive made friends on ffxiv from just grouping with random people for all sorts of things.

A big thing for me in a MMO is not just leveling or completing a task quickly, but the ability to make friends and in joy time spent together doing these things.

Sounds like a bad idea.

really guys I played WoW before the dungeon finder... it sucked before and after. Anyone can be a jerk, anyone can be nice. I made friends in either case. It is not that hard to stay in touch nor do you need to hang out with your friend all the time. I made tons of friends in ffxi, and i barely grouped with any of them. I just talked with them over LS chat (in ffxi).

pros of cross server grouping
can do stuff anytime w/o relying on an LS sched you may not make nor want to do all ythe time
fast party making in some cases.
get more stuff done in less time.

all in all more time for fun less time waiting beat out every con.

And you can't seriously say you group and make friends in every party, or partied with the same people multiple times, maybe on occassion.

And honestly how do you really judge people based of a one time meeting? What if they had a bad day? Or sometimes people take things to seriously.

cross server does not ruin communities.
how ppl act on their server does, bad communities happen with or with out cross server groups. Aion community sucks and it don't have cross server stuff last I played. DCUO community sucks because ppl are elitist abd talk down on anyone who ques up for raids.

want a good community? don't do that crap.

Kilta, I'm never against you myself, but I can imagine why people might be rude to you, before or after an LDF.

People are right that cross server LDFs destroy a community feel, because if you have no ties with the community you are in, you have no reason to care. I really do think SE needs to consider this and address it before doing anything. I offered one small solution. But if you want to actually promote a community, you need to have community based activities that acually encourage people to meet each other and contribute. Which I think SE has been doing pretty well without pushing too hard.

I came here partly because I wanted to be in a nice community. Just because I tend to solo, doesn't mean I don't want this to be a pleasant place to play.

The MMO communities do typically judge based on first encounters. From what I've seen they are even less forgiving as if this person is static in their actions. They set it in stone (this is part of why i've lost faith in MMO communities maturing as a whole).

Impressions are the starting point for being judged. In this fast-paced world if someone can't control their actions and acts like a douche to others' then they had it coming. Players don't want to be the outlet for negativity, they just want to have fun.

ya never understood why people even continue to argue about this. If you don't want to use the function which seems like 90% of you then don't use it and let the other 10% of the people that want to use it, use it.

I vote yes, but I hope they bring in some good tools, allowing players to rate those they play with, allowing them to party up again with those players, and perhaps even communicate with those players as well.

If done right, it could have some real positive options. :)

I haven't voted at all, but I do think a rating system would help a lot. I also think that it should be more beneficial to find a party within your server, like it's more beneficial to be in a party than solo.

I am 100% okay with these features being added as long as they only exist as an option. As long as I can still group up with my LS and complete the same content then I have absolutely no problem with it.

You have over 2,000 posts... it's impossible not to be in the same thread as you. In addition, I don't twist anything... you do. And that's what I was pointing out. As I stated before... if you don't agree with someone, all you do is take one of their statements out of context, find some convoluted way of bringing up a horrible experience in FFXI or WoW, and then try and make a connection between the two that doesn't exist. As for the topic: As I've stated before, I agree with NO cross-server instances. Accountability is completely lost and the system is abused horrifically. All you have to do is look at DCUO and their auto-grouping feature for instances (it would be even worse if it was cross-server).

The problem is they are trying to make this game more accessible and playable by all yet everytime they mention something new that will help this game become more popular everyone cries about it. It won't diminish any part of the game in its current and very lacking state. People are afraid it will be a WoW clone and that is literally impossible because the game is not even 1% like WoW and even with certain features added it would still be nothing like that game or any other.

Why won't it diminish the community? First of all I ask what community? Everyone plays in one LS for the most part of their time online and occasionally will group up with random people to do leves and talk with people in town. That isn't much of a community if you ask me. It won't take away from your LS comradely at all, so tell me how it would negatively effect FFXIV.

2) gives oportunity for ninja's.
They just have to make a better looting system that makes this not possible or easy.

3) player conduct.
Elitism is the problem and it is the players faults. It doesn't make people act this way because they are just being themselves. I see it everyday on my server and on these forums and this is not the cause of the problem.

4) It has been tried.
Tried by me and I am 100% for the system. For the most part the Final Fantasy community in general is different than most players of other MMOs. The people playing FFXIV currently are the die hard fans for the most part and the new players will also be likely more die hard FF fans. So with that in mind and with Yoshida behind working on the system I bet you that it will be an improved upon feature than will be better than the other renditions in other MMOs.

So before you knock it and flame it why don't you give our new director a chance to implement it, looting features, and other things that go along with this a chance?(one which I have a lot of faith in to revive this game to its proper glory)

Cross server instanced ques are the worst idea to hit MMORPGS, the point of these games is to inspire community and building friendships, not a sit in city, que for group, ninja loot system.

When you add an in menu option to que for pvp or instances there is no reason to go out in the world which causes a high population of AFK city squatters. Not to mention a high amount of ninja looting due to the fact that no one can be held accountable for doing it. All Japanese MMO's i have played have addressed this issue and have attempted to keep que cross server instances out.

I understand your point to some extent but what you say is not a problem and it does not demote community and building friendships in the least. As I have said in other posts anyone in a decent size and active LS will not use this system much if at all, but having the option to use this kind of system is never a bad thing. Then you have players who want to play an MMO but may not have as much time to play and other players from other regions who may be for the system.

Ninja loot system? Are you daft? They haven't even added a loot system to game yet for the dungeons that themselves have yet to be implemented. Give them a chance to create a system that will work and a loot sytem that will go with it. Tired of people shooting down ideas by the DEV team who is trying to make this game succeed. Given them a chance to design some ideas and shoot them at us before you say , " Do not implement this system no matter what", that is pure ignorance.

Also you don't have to be in town to use the queue system you can be out gathering, or crafting or doing whatever you want to do and it would only be used for dungeons which will be only a part of the content (in the future atleast)

Wow rate a player is good ut people will rate down anyone who out lotted them or took gear that was thiers etc. I hope each person that goes into the instance can get the chance to earn the gear on their own so there is no lotting wars.

People also tend to put alot of blind faith into things they don't know how it will be implemented. I have concerns and I have every right to voice them.

I also vote yes on allowing cross-server grouping.

I seriously hope they do not implement cross-server party, it does nothing good for the community.

Because even if I choose not to use it, it doesn't change the fact that it drastically reduces the number of intra-server groups formed and diminishes the sense of community within the server.

kaeden you such a (fill in the blank). Holding grugdes is pretty sad thing to do dude, as well as basing your fight on something so sad as post count. My post count is high cuz I like socialising on here. I do not type very well, bor do I say what I want to say very well. I use my personal experiences or as ppl put it "sob stories" as the best way I can get my point across. If I don't do that I get lost into what I try to say, and it wouldn't come out well.

Which is also what others are unintentionaly doing. Including you. You guys do not want this system based on past experiences on previous mmo. Just not talking in detail.

And also no one here is stating an opinion, they are stating facts which are infact invalid. Sorry but again, there is no valid reason not to have cross sever que systems. WoW had a bad community before dingeon finder. DCUO was bad before their cross server que. And honestly as someone pointed out, what community are you trying to protect?

you do know it will prob only be fore raids etc to give more people more chaces at doing them. Not everyone likes shouting for hours to get help or a team up to do a dungeon run. And not everyone plays in peek hours.

Server merge before Cross World grouping! IT will kill community for sure!!!

So you agree to everything that is casual but dislike everything you don't really enjoy? but you use most of your time on here more then 5hours talking on here that for sure. You do know you agreeing on something that would kill community for sure.

I'm sorry but FFXI and FFXIV is about community not about sitting your lazy a@$ in city and waiting for a dungeon to happen. There so many cons about having it in FFXIV it better of if we just party with our own server. How many time do i log on ffxiv and see JP /sh for party to do leves but then again why don't i see any ENG players doing it? oh that right there just soloing or doing it with there linkshell then really party with others. That what we need to party with players on our world not only ls or friends. that how you build a community not by building a community you only going to see one time in a random dungeon.


Am sorry i say no to this hands down bad idea even tho it sound like a good idea and i would enjoy it i think it would kill the community and ppl just be in town waiting for dungeon even if they get to party with ppl in your own server they wont /tell eachother to party this happen a lot in wow so i say no too this.

Of course it's SE's job to monitor the community and influence their behavior. Without limits, people push the bounds of decency, and many times break it completely. All you have to do is look to the internet to prove that. When people exploit the system, they aren't just hurting their experience, they're effecting others as well.

This argument that "you don't have to use it if you don't want to" is an argument from ignorance. The plain fact it exists means it will effect the community as a whole, whether an individual uses it or not.

Because if they have the system we have to use it matter what because it's not like we can /sh most players wont even want to do it that way they just sit in the city and wait for a dungeon. I play wow and i /tell players who just did a dungeon with me and they said no and this happen many many times not only one time. So yes trust me players would like to just do random dungeon then players in there own world.

SE job is to deliver a good fun game for people to play, as of yet that has not happened, that is their only job, it is not their job to be the community police, what you are suggesting is that SE needs to contemplate every single time they might add a feature into the game, how they will baby sit the community, for example if they where to add HNM, that could lead to camping, and selling kills, are you suggesting that SE not add HNM because some people will camp then to death, and not allow the others to fight them? how about people that sell kills and loot? did you forget the last time SE went out of their way to baby sit the community vs RMT and delivered a horrible trade system ??

The community is the only one that can take care of the community, using wow as an example, as some people have done, is stupid, because the game mechanics and community are totally different, there is no change name, in this game, if i'm a ninja, i cant just change my name or make another toon, w/o loosing all the progress i have done here :/

Whats next ? No pvp in any form, because that will lead to a bad community ? Woot there goes another chunk of the player base they could have tapped 8-)
