To the people who are logged in overnight

I tried to AFK while I went to sleep.
But I closed my laptop and it went to sleep.

Stop tinking only your self and tink of others. you dont own the game, you paid to play it not block the servers so others cant play.
i have also paid for this game like everyone else here. we didnt come here to try and log in for 4h becuse someone like you did log out so we could play.

i almost hope you all of you people who stay AFK and dont logged out when you sleep/work have to try and log in for 6h each time you get logged out.

I usually refrain from posting in these types of threads but the spiraling circle of blame has really hit rock bottom at this point.

First players blame SE for the state of the servers and the connection issues; and while some are fixed there are others that are still being worked on

So in response the blame is then shifted towards Yoshida for underestimating the number of people that would be playing and not planning accordingly (some merit yet understandable given the situation of 1.0’s response) and he comes right out and apologizes and explains everything that’s happening and their efforts to solve these issues.

And as if that weren’t enough you guys now decide to start blaming other players? The same people who are going through many of the same problems that you are?

The Players who have sat through days worth of 3102, 90000, 9000, 1017, 1016, and 2002 errors to play the same game that like you yourselves have paid for and set aside time to play?

You want to sit here and argue for some e-ethics code on game logins and playtime that I assure you don’t exist and half of you wouldn’t apply to yourselves? And on top of that you want to make it seem like you’re on some moral high ground in doing so?

And to top it all off there are those of you that would claim that doing so marks some kind of recognition of maturity and adulthood when you’re doing nothing more than pointing fingers and spewing blame?

I would imagine the maturity it takes to recognize that while a problem does exist, it’s one that is currently being addressed as best as it can given obvious issues that can occur when launching a worldwide game that has thousands of players across all times zones simultaneous trying to log on at various times of the day would be something an adult would possess.

Just saying, while it sucks, it sucks for all of us how about you consider that before turning on each other.

My new character is in coma in the inn room in one of NA servers as should already have the full rested bonus. I guess I am lucky to miss the world transfer a few months ago and I am still stuck in JP server. Most of Japanese always logout in respect to let others to play so I can sleep happily in the inn room whenever I stop playing and wake up happily whenever I start playing. Rested bonus is the fast way to level up your classes than being afk.

Deal with it.

Sadly that is also cause you are on the Japanese server and they arent having NEAR as many problems as the NA/EU servers are

It seems the only time I'm not disconnected randomly is if I stay logged in overnight or at work. I've suffered through every single bug, glitch, and connection problem the game has had since Beta 4. It's getting better, and I genuinely like the game when I can experience it. Unfortunately, the only way I can play the game is if I get up early to play, or stay up late, or stay logged in overnight or while at work. I agree, absolutely, that something needs to be done about people being logged in all the time.

Until they kick people that are AFK for 8 hours, though, I'm gonna keep doing it. Why? I will do what I can to play the game. I'm only posting this because I randomly got an Error 90000 two hours ago and have been unable to login since. (Lobby errors, cannot update NA/EU server errors, world is full errors. You know, all of them.)

I was able to get in and complete my hunting log and went to Ala Mhigo and found at least 10-15 "residents" camping out there. Come on guys, not only are you blocking people from getting on but anyone who wants to do Ala Mhigo quests would be lagged to hell

staying logged in is the sort of asshole selfishness that it didn't even occur to me to try.

I find it kind of funny, really. These things are hard to predict accurately so in times where the devs are fixing servers or bugs it really falls to the players to do the right thing, so look what happens. It's really interesting to see the mentality of some people, right or wrong it's still fascinating. Just in my own experience sometimes I get into the server (after many tries) and sometimes I don't but I always log off no matter what. I'm sure it's just my own personality but I think that since everyone is "paying", why should they sit out on the fun while if I'm just standing in the middle of nowhere while I'm passed out or at work. Sure I won't get to play whenever I feel like it but I'll get in when I can and I'll do something else if I can't. I thought everyone was taught the value of sharing? :0

Until this issue is fixed, I will stay logged in at all times, and will advise all my friends to do so as well.

If you had to pick between a completely random persons well being (could be a racist or murderer for all you know) and your own well being,
any NORMAL person would pick their own well being.
You can log off at night and go cherish your false sense of having done a good deed all you want, fact of the matter is that you'll only be punishing
yourself for not playing by the rules of a flawed system, and instead letting another person; who will probably do the smarter choice and remain online;
onto the server.

That being said the sooner square fix this the better. The system as is is ATROCIOUS; and should never have been their backup plan in the first place.

I agree wholeheartedly. No one should log out with this mess going on.

Wait until SE cant fix the problem on Wednesday and then they have to add the afk auto kick. Yeah I'm sure people will find away around it but I think if you are standing in the corner jumping or running into it we know your afk. Also they should add a feature cause you know people are thinking they are going to be slick "Well I can just go to my inn and jump or run into a wall and no one will see me" that once your in your room you auto log out after 25mins or so whether you are afk or not. Also I could care less either way cause I get on do what I want and log off and for the people who say you sit here for 2hrs+ trying to log in go find something else to do. When I cant login I try for maybe 30mins and I sure as heck ain't spamming the X button other things to do in life besides waste 2hrs+ on logging into a game......

To people that think its because of people being afk are the causes of the problem, well its been like this since launch. I doubt people were login in the 1st time just to go afk. Why do some people have no problem login in and some people cant even make a character? JP sever list gets fixed then the eu/na sever list goes down. >.< afk people are not the problem. I get the world is full message befor ive even picked a character.

Honest to God its a disgrace to leave stuff powered up like that when you have no intention to use it.

I see a lot of people calling others selfish for staying logged in... Isn't it selfish that you're telling people to log out for you? Are YOU not only looking out for yourself as well? Maybe you're all just upset that they're on and you're not? I'm locked out as well and you can be damn sure when i get on i'm not getting off til a maintenance. Guess that makes me selfish but guess what? I can live with that. ;)

That is not true. JP server have the same problem as NA side. 90000, 1017, 3102 you name it. I had spend 5 hrs. to be able to log in today and still got error 90000 during boss fight and I'm a tank then couldn't log back in because 3102. The difference between JP and NA is that I NEVER see any Japanese AFK for too long or camping in rest area, they always log off so I sill able to log in late at night while NA side well you can see from the reply here.

Anecdotal evidence is fun. I've been trying to log in for over an hour... and counting. It is known there is an issue and "some" people are having a hard time logging. A few people getting in quickly, frequently or not, doesn't solve the issue. Pissing and moaning doesn't either, unless they aren't putting enough effort in to solving it, but people are pissed so it is going to keep happening.

I guess it really is a good thing they don't let you pay upfront while there is free time remaining on the accounts. Anyways, I'm off to screw around on guitar while staring at 1017's and what not.

We're talking about a game, and not the well being of a random person or your own. Comparing a-holes to oranges doesn't justify hogging server space so you can play whenever you get around to it.
I have luckily been able to play the game daily, but the most I've ever AFK'd is using the bathroom or eating a meal. Even if it gets frustrating to try and log in, I will never keep myself AFK'd when I'm done for my own selfish reasons to play "later tonight" or what have you.
By your justification, would it be ok to keep a fire exit blocked for the sake of making it easy for you if it was ever needed? After all, the other people in the building "could" be racists and murderers! They deserve to die! #scoff puhlease

Well its 653 pm est and I've been trying to log in for 20 minutes and guess what? I got in. Probably because one of the people who actually log off this game when they are done did just that. Blame the past few generations(including mine 31 years old) who have grown up on hand outs/ bail outs/ welfare/ unemployment/ just your basic entitlements. Maybe its the government who is to blame, maybe its the parents, but really the responsibility to act accordingly is all left up to the individual. You can throw out all the justifications, all the rationalizations you want to make it seem or sound better to yourself. Do I think I'm better than you? Damn right. Its filth, and yes i said filth, like these that are destroying our gaming community, our country, and our world. Well off to play the game, and when I am done I will log off in an inn for some rested xp like I do every night and hopefully karma will let my spot go to someone like me and not one of the scum of the earth.

Even if they get new servers up, it won't matter without immediate transfer options. I think it feels more like being trapped on legacy servers, since there are very, very few NA servers for Legacy to even be in. SE was worried about the game economy, and at first I thought I could understand that but now it feels like being on a small island with not enough room to stand even on shore. Give us an option to move our 1.0 characters onto other servers! This problem won't stop by just adding new servers.

A log in slot is still being occupied regardless if the player of it is actively doing content or away from the game. Those players wanting inactive players to log out, so they can log in, will equally prevent someone else from logging in too.

To be the righteous and considerate person, some players ask others to be, they should not log in as well, thus enabling someone else to log in.

What if I am doing my homework while in game and am simply taking in the ambiance but not obviously interacting with anyone or doing content. I am at my keyboard then so am I still afk?

Some players are calling other players selfish, immature, and or childish. These same players claim they are on a moral high ground and say that adults are the mature ones and that anyone who is away from their input device while logged into FFXIV is a greedy disgusting existence.

Those people that insult those who are logged in and absent are naught but bullies. In order to get what they want they pressure people and degrade them.

Those players being bullied are rather like placeholders. They keep the slot locked so the bullies can come and take it from them. By pressuring these people into logging out because, "they are being selfish", you are asking them to give up the slot they fought for so that you can obtain it without hassle.

In nature, to be courteous gets you eaten. Its a battle of resources. While I may be a prey animal, I won't let some predator threaten my quality of life.

Would be nice to be able to log in, I always log out when I'm not planning to play again for more than an hour, but I'm going to stay logged in next time I log in until they fix this problem, took the day off, cleaned my house, got some food ready, all good to go and play today with my free company, we had plans to do hard mode primals today, and I can't log in... Time is one thing money can not buy, and when it comes to gaming time is priceless to me. I should of went to work...Wasted one of my holiday days to watch 1017.....

Since their servers can't handle X amount of people, they should let us log in with our man accounts to any servers that has free spots so we can at least play and progress through the game on main characters, at least until this problem is fixed.

Sadly, I suspect the real problem is they scaled the hardware for what they expect to remain after the 30-day free trial, and not for the initial large burst of players. Apologizing repeatedly is a lot cheaper than buying more servers.

I thought the issue was that there can only be 5000 concurrent log=in ATTEMPTS at a time, and that was the issue why folks couldn't get in. not server population. If this is the case, then it wouldn't matter if they were logged in for days, it would keep the number of people trying to login down to boot. Not defending them, just stating what I have been assuming. Anyways, if I am wrong, appy-polly-logies and all that.

I like logging off after I am done playing for two reasons.
One: I know one of my fellow adventurers can now begin or continue enjoying their story in Eorzea.
Two: To hear the melody that plays whenever you log out in a bed.

Secondly, WHAT Servers are still having issues? I play on Leviathan and I barely EVER have trouble getting in anymore. Maybe around 4pm to 9pm there are small issues because school is out but I can usually get in within 10 to 15 minutes of trying.

Those who think they are justified to stay logged in? You aren't helping the issue and I can't wait until we have the AFK timers.
