The claiming system of NMs in XI made claim bots completely ineffective. It was all luck and commitment to show and have a shot.

I did all the endgame shit and stopped playing FFXI for one simple reason: Time sink activities that had nothing to do with challenge!
My attention is focused at my work! I play to have fun. About my 'exp PT' epxerience, I was RDM so no problem getting a party or getting to cap. Better gears doesn't mean better players. It just means you have a better tool, doesn't mean you necessarely do better with it.
Actually, I shouldn't even have replied to that post. Just attacks, no arguments whatsoever, uselss post :D

I'm a gamer. I started out playing ffxi under a 2 hr limit. I saved up money from my part timre job I finally got @ 19 to buy a router, wireless game adptor, a second ps2, and a second copy of ffxi just for the HDD so i could play ffxi longer. pretty much they are shut in bums. Who have no life and spend every waking moment doing nothing.

Well in this instance, looks like ppl hatin on you cuz they don't want it your way. I'm not sure if this was brought up (every time I hit refresh its like 10 new posts against and 10 new posts for), but I think in one of the polls (I'd have to go look) that it showed that JP players didn't have that much time to do things, busier life styles and what not. So, moving to a harsher-longer system wouldn't seem to make sense on SE's half.

I play this game a lot, probably the majority of my free time, but unfortunately, I have to pay for my house, internet, computer, subscription (eventually), food, etc. Since my parents aren't rich, this means I need to work. I work a 9-5 job, which means if there's an NM that only spawns between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm EDT, I will NEVER see it. That means there is content that I, a working stiff, will never get the chance to see. i remember wasting a whole free week once to camp Kreuztet, just for a stupid dagger.
i bet everyone that remembers that son of a bitch knows that he only spawned like every 7 hrs or so, on top of that only during windy weather.
after a whole week of almost no sleep i ended up getting my sirroco kukri to drop at around 6 a.m. in the morning of my last free day.

win win win!!!!

after that week i never camped nms again.

i never had a ridill, but i had enough time to collect beastmen seals to get myself a kraken club.

I'm not sure if you are trying to take what I said out of context or if the second half is supposed to support the quote, but regardless that wouldn't make much sense. The ones who are playing ARE the ones who are taking the poll.

There will still be bots to detect NMs with wide spawn ranges. I do know there were bots where all you'd have to do is wait in the zone they'd spawn and the moment they do the bot would find them.

I don't know if you notice this but it's pretty apparent 99% of the people on this forum don't play the game. There was never a poll saying JPs want spoon feed baby NMs that are always up.

Dude it didn't matter. NMs in XI spawned with a random timer and if you tried to claim too fast you wouldn't get it. It was all luck. Bots didn't do anything.

not really i seen a bot claim before they use a hack to know where the nm was going to appear. I seen a few hacks that claimed the nm before it even spawn and no one was with in range of it.

I totally agree.

Then go camp when it's in your window? Normal 24 hour NMs in XI were 21~24 hour meaning you don't need to to be there the whole time.

It wouldn't be fair to anyone if it always popped at 4 am. So I don't think that will happen.

and no one is saying that. And what alot of ppl say is true, Japanese have a much stricter life style then we do. Look up the japanmese education system sometime. 1 school year starts in march, and ends in april the following year. Most students stated at school till roughly 6pm depending on activities. Most schools also had weeks going from monday - saterday.
so.... going to school for over a year under about 10 hours 6 days a week. ya... Plus after middle school you had a choice to get a job. or go on to high school which public or privet you had to pay for. So most students needed a after school job. Not to mention they work right after high school or uni. So ya. They don't want a video game to be stressful. And tbh niether do I.

I don't have the time to do the 24hr pops, my teen/bum days are long over, pulling all nighters going through kings and trying to stall kills to keep the buggers in our time slot, fighting against bots and stupid smug people thinking that their shit don't stink because they can down fafnir in 10mins got old a loooooong time ago.

While the current stuff are ridiculous like killing an NM only to see it pop right after, I'm very much against the 24hr pops, something in between like 3-4 hours is ok with me.
