my daily bump.....
I'm really hoping that among the updates they are doing during the maintenance today is the fix for this. I would really love to play the game without the performance hit of windowed mode for once.
nope no fix after the long maintenance, that was pretty much expected though...Wish they would get on this!
I want to upgrade to collector's edition but not if I can't play in fullscreen mode. Anyone know how to make the taskbar disappear when playing in full window mode? It was gone until today, then it's suddenly there.
another bump and asking again.
Anyone know how to make the taskbar disappear when playing in full window mode? It was gone until today, now it's suddenly there.
i had this issue today but i switched my mouse setting one the desktop from trail on to trail off and its now on my screen...
I am actually getting an issue like this in Windows XP, except my cursor flashes obnoxiously back and forth between my computer's default cursor and the FFXIV cursor. I'll have to try the compatibility stuff that maTyaR mentioned when I get home later tonight.
bjorn you may be able to fix the taskbar error by right clicking on it (on a blank spot) and then going to properties. you can check the option " keep the taskbar on top of other windows." Unfortunately though when running in windowed borderless this shouldn't happen in my experience.
Other than that...Square Enix please fix invisible mouse problem.
I agree though I would recommend making your own thread. There should be a better way once you understand what core functionality is causing this issue.
This is a known issue that is planned to be fixed during or after the 2.1 update. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this issue
OMG I think I cried a little! An actual response to the issue, hooray! Thank you MOD so much for letting all of us know! Now are there any hints to when 2.1 is planned? :)
Just downloaded a 1GB+ patch, issue NOT solved.
Here we go again,
SE FIX THIS ASAP

They must be kidding right?
Come on SE, you can do better than this, provide solutions and quality feedback.
Asmoday,
You even replied to the mod knowing the fix is suppose to come in patch 2.1. Well there is no 2.1 patch yet and from google-ing it, it looks like it wont be for another month or two. Yes this sucks as we are paying for a game that is technically broken, but unfortunately we have to wait...I really feel we are paying for beta 5. There's still so many issues that plague this game, it just wasn't ready for release.
Hi syklonis, I'm not gonna wait because some mod is saying something about a patch coming up nobody knowing when.. I want quality feedback with a timeframe, if not, I will try to get a refund and delete this game from my HD. No, I'm not gonna wait months for a solution..
Also having same issue. Using a GTX 560 graphics card atm and windows vista. updated all my drivers, tried many fixes. Tried turning off certain mouse settings(like trail etc). No fix yet, and I have not received a reply yet from SE.
Keep this thread open , I hate having to play on standard(laptop) settings and get worse framerate then if I play on Max settings Fullscreen.
This one needs a bump. Same issue here with Windows Vista. I cant believe this bug wasnt fixed yet and it seems as if the game wasn't tested properly. =(
Help! My mouse isnt appearing and its hard to play without a mouse!
It's not just Vista. I run XP and my cursor disappears immediately whenever I stop using it and 'flashes' in and out when I do move it. It's extremely annoying and they need to fix it quick.
Bump.
I am running Windows Vista x64 bit. My husband runs Windows 7. He has absolutely no issues with his cursor in full screen mode using Windows 7. I, on the other hand, do. The difference is huge.. my husband was getting on average 45 frames and sometimes 55-60 fps. He plays a summoner and I am a white mage. It caused a bit of havoc last night trying to do AK instance last night due to my frames. Ex: Husband is kiting mob, getting hit, and I see full hp before it drastically hits 148 hp out of nowhere. I go "OMG what happened?" and he's looking at me like I'm crazy. He used to work tech support for many places and was even going into computer repair before switching that out to be an electrician lol Anyway.. I sat here and watched him try everything from mouse pointer options, changing compatibility options, etc. Nothing worked and he felt really bad. He said that maybe since it's such a huge issue on the forums that maybe they will get it fixed soon. However my time is running out..
My big problem right now is that someone got into my main e-mail (hacked it) and that main e-mail was linked to everything. Bank, gaming accounts, PayPal, Facebook, etc. So I had to back-up what I could and reformat. Not to mention change everything. The problem is that I can't find my Windows Vista disc that came with my PC (Dell Studio). So we downloaded a copy of it to be able to install it onto my computer hoping we could find my original Windows Vista disc, but to no avail. All of this was just before the release of early access. I played Beta P3 & P4 with my activated version of Windows Vista. Since I haven't activated Windows yet since reformatting, it says I have 2 days left to do so. The problem is.. do I hope that SE will fix this problem or do I pay to upgrade so that I can have a cursor in full screen mode? Because I seriously doubt they will have this fixed in two days. I could always try to get Dell to tell me what the activation key was for my Windows Vista if I had to, but the fact that people are confirming that upgrading to Windows 7 is fixing the problem is tempting.
It just shows that they aren't properly testing their games on older operating systems. I think they forget that Windows XP and Windows Vista aren't totally obsolete yet unlike say Windows 95 or something. =/
Vista here as well, have tweaked with everything I possibly could as others have posted. Was nice to find an updated driver for my mouse.... yet....
One question I do have tho (please forgive me if it's been asked, did skip a few pages of this thread, got pretty repetitive) is:
Was this issue also present in 1.0 ??? just curious.
Yes. I read a few pages as well and it's the same issue. It's not a vista issue or it would be present in many other games. It's not. That narrows it down to a coding in final fantasy XIV. Which means they have to come out with a bug fix in an update. However, since it hasn't been looked at so far with thousands of posts on a single thread about it since beta 1, I highly doubt it will ever get resolved.
This sucks for me in particular since in borderless window it has other sound issues, like the channels are mixed with my desktop sounds so that I hear none of the game music until I go out of the game into my desktop, then it sounds beautiful. You can see how that might be frustrating considering the other downgrades in performance previously mentioned about the borderless window selection in this thread.
So just to recap, borderless window is glitchy, and underpowered (framerate wise). Full screen is missing mouse functionality on vista, and for some reason, no one at square enix could give a single shit.
And of course I had to buy a hard copy of the game to even play it in the first place. So just because I have vista, this game becomes virtually unplayable, at least with any sound, or a mouse. Talk about missing a big target of your marketplace and shitting on your customers when they have been telling you about the problems since beta. Fuck you square enix.
bump, do you guys not care about a complete game-impairing bug that is in official release? Is is it really that hard to tell us when it will be patched?
bump. My curiousity is abuzz. For you legacy folks, was this an issue before?
This was an issue in beta and still nothing done about it.
...still waiting
Bump, I dont think il resub until this is fixed, it was annoying me too much. Which is a shame because i like the game.
I feel the same way about a re-sub. Mostly because I've felt abandoned and they don't care to resolve this.
With my old computer I can't run it in windowed bec the extremly low fps (9~) and in a small window I can get it to 20 fps. In fullscreen its about 29-34 fps but then I wont have a mouse pointer.
A mod replied saying it will be fixed on 2.1… http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1190351
Thanks ZohnoReecho! <3 :D Great news!
Great news, not really. I bought this game and wasted an entire month of not even being able to play or get past the tutorial. It's bullshit that they don't give a shit to patch something game-breaking before an official release.
They have know about this issue since BETA.
Don't get your hopes up for a fix in 2.1
Like the guy said "This is a known issue that is planned to be fixed during or after the 2.1 update"
In other words we don't have a clue.
Same issue, incredibly frustrating.
I wonder if this is going to be fixed in the hotfix on the 15th?
I was playing aorund with my settings... and I removed the default "Hide pointer while typing"... and BAM my mouse cursor re-appeared in full screen.
