Mouse Pointer vanishing in Fullscreen Mode

I'm curious if there's been any headway on resolving this issue as we're now heading into the start of live service. There was a rather lengthy thread in the Beta Tech Support forums about this but there was no word on any solutions yet.

    To summarize the problem:
Players who have Vista as their current operating system are unable to run the game in Fullscreen mode because the mouse pointer becomes invisible.

This is an issue because there is a very significant framerate and performance loss if you run the game in borderless windowed mode. Some others I saw in the last thread were also reporting framerate drops when the mouse pointer moved at all. From what I saw when trying to search for a solution for this myself, was that it wasn't dependent on 32-bit or 64-bit systems, it was just running Vista. If there was a way to use a hardware mouse pointer, that might solve the problem.

I am going to reply here too, since apparently this is our official forums now. The previous thread on the other square site was 20 pages deep with over 4000 views. So lets make this a place to get this issue resolved. Since we are all now paying customers, this issue/bug needs to be resolved asap. I am too a vista user as most of us in said previous thread narrowed it down to a Vista problem. I'm not upgrading my OS to play a single game. This issue has gone on since the very first beta test with no acknowledgement at all. Please get this fixed!!

This could be a conflict with FFXIV's cursor and your cursors ancillary behaviors.

Try opening the control panel and selecting Mouse pointers (Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers>Mouse) and disabling some of the functions not required on your cursor (like trails/shadow etc)

This does not work and has been discussed to death on the previous thread, thanks for the info for others that can try though.

It's not video card drivers, windows aero, mouse options, mouse drivers, mouse trails or anything else on the user end. It's the game and an apparent conflict with Vista OS.

I see. Have you guys submitted a ticket to Square-Enix? You may want to get the jump on that and let them know about all the things you've tried. (There is a way to get into the live chat though it's still a hefty wait time)

I have submitted this bug with the in game menu as well as submitted a ticket as I know others have too. This is completely and still unanswered since beta 1, maybe earlier not sure as I wasn't apart of the alpha testing.

Borderless window is not the answer I'm looking for, the drop in frame rate and horrible screen tearing is completely unacceptable! In the words of Fry, fix it, fix it, fix it!

Hey, trust me I wouldn't be ok with that answer either. Borderless window fullscreen is annoying as hell to me. Currently the way we've been seeing Square-Enix handle issues of the players though is somewhat unsettling. X_x

I found a simple fix for this, change your display settings in the benchmark from full screen to borderless window. Keeping the same res as the full screen mode. Works for me hope it helps some.

This is not a fix what so ever! Thanks for trying but border-less window is a cop out and produces completely crap-tastic frame-rates compared to fullscreen resolution.
