Request: 2.0 Character Creation option, Left Handed.

Ok, but will 5 right hand animations be greater than 5 left hand animations. how about 2 left hand animations and 3 right hand animations. 4 left hand animations and 1 right hand animations.

No extra animations are being added. Players wont suddenly be sending both right and left handed animation data, they will be sending either right hand or left hand, which both would be the same size as all right hand or all left hand.

I won't be too gutted if this doesn't make it in, but as a lefty, this would make me very happy. I was really annoyed with Twilight Princess when they went and mirrored the ENTIRE world just to make Link a righty instead of his usual lefty-self. I had to play in a mirror-Hyrule, just because I was in a minority, when the Cube version was fine. Irrelevant rant over! It won't be so drastic this time, I know, but it would be nice to make my character more true to myself.

I'd like to see an either or hand option in the future, really have no care on priority though. It can help vary the masses up (its a small choice, but a choice none the less).

Both hands have different skills. lol

My left hand can do writing/drawing a paper and fingerspelling (sign language) very well.

However, my right hand can do Photoshop, playing MMOs with only K/M, and many more (but couldn't fingerspelling very well heh.)

I don't really care about it but if it has something like you can do in Skyrim then it would be cool.

Main-hand and Off-hand... <<< don't make a sense.. v.v

It's not what they are going to do. It's more likely they are collecting ideas and making plans for the future.

I'm a lefty myself, though I do a lot of sports (some sports ambidextrously), and shooting of guns/bows right handed, and use a mouse right handed. Though writing and everything else is left handed. While I'd love to make my character left handed, I'll be okay without it.

I mean, I'm sure we all knew there were no plans. But I was hoping that someone would see that we would like it! :D I always wanted it in XI. I'm glad to actually hear someone from the community team to hear and respond! Feels good.

ima a righty but i think it would be cool to have the option, i think it should have been requested sooner maybe, what with BETA coming and all there will be less focus for new requests , i think they are rather looking at previous player polls and that..

but it would be great if it gets done. :)

It's really not hard to mirror animations. It does not effect the character model or the clothing on the character.
Armatures control our characters which are the bones of our characters. Weight painting an setting vertex groups are what help our Armature stick to the model of the character. The biggest issue which is really like a 10mins consumption is reseting weight paints an relinking vertex groups. A quick small way to do this.

Take the Armature copy it twice. You should have 3 Armatures now just delete half of Armature 1 an the other side of Armature 2 now set it to x Axis lock an flip boom now Armature 1 should be in exact position of armature 2 do the same with Armature 2 set x Axis lock flip now Armature 2 will be in the position of armature 1 delete the 3rd one as we're prepared an it was simply for backup. Selecting Armature 2 you delete the center of the armature and anything parented at the center including the Head. Then you Parent Armature 1's spin to Armtures 2's Shoulder and Upper Leg. Now you reset the Weight Paint with 1 button click and it should automatically calculate weights. This process is not perfect so you might have to tweak it alittle bit not much though because it's normally accurate if you're good like SE with Topology ^_^. and boom that's really it's probably alot faster then 10mins

I say if not at launch, it's a feasible option for later on with a one-time chance at changing the main hand for your character, kind of like our one-time character re-creation coming up. Having played Twilight Princess on Wii (which irked me a bit honestly - continuity out the window ><) I fully support the lefties on this ^^

I'm right handed, but I think this would be a nice little adition if they ever did it. It would add a little bit of variety.

Say hello ta making two animations, for every single weapon in existence..
Playstation 3's limitations will kill this idea..
Not possible I think if for that reason alone..
Also jebuss the amount of work they would have to do just for this is stifling.
For those who have 3d experience like myself, I'm sure you know.

It's not just the way a weapon is held, that will change. Even the way the character holing the weapon would stand, would have to change.
How they swing, etc..
Would also change every set of gears animations, based on the left handed movement.

As a left handed I LOVE this idea, seems awesome to see my char using its bow with the left hand xD
