Weapon skins will be easier to port to the 2.0 engine than armor.
That's my guess.

unexpected and cool!
I'm looking forward to a change in pace from grinding hamlets and primals
Looks like a nice addition to the game and it also makes sense from a lore perspective
the rewards look nice and unique as well
aaand as expected people are bitching, lol i cant even take this forums serious anymore
"give us more options>here you go, more options>EWW why more of that stuff!?!"
its pretty much a lost cause at this point

So people aren't allowed an opinion any more cause we are bitching .. man why can't people on here see the difference between bitching and a simple complaint.
I guess that would take some kind of intelligence though.
I'm more happy we're getting more content than the weapons...though the weps are a nice touch. These fights sound fun :)
weapons look good, just want to see their stats : D.
You should be happy Square Enix has decided to bless you mere mortals with something new to do in game, rather than be happy you have nothing to do in game.
How dare someone complain about getting more of the same from someone they are paying money each month, in a day and age when MMO's have a free to play model. The nerve of some people.
people who complain about having all the/too many weapons, have you considered this...
don't keep all the weapons? do you really use all of them? could you perhaps materialize, trade in for seals the ones you don't use as much. think about it. nobody is forcing you to keep every single weapon, if you want to collect that's fine too. but don't be like "UGHHH sooo many weapons, why can't I hold all these weapons!!!"
It's not so much about having them all, it's about the fact that we're only getting more weapons. Hamlet defense is great since you get good gear and accessories for all classes (even DoH/DoL), but other than that - should we be happy if all new content will only give us "more" weapons?
SE: Quick all of our rank 50 playes have either done everything or a whining about relic weapons RELEASE MORE WEAPONS!
I've played FF1 to 14 and...in all the other FF's whenever you move to a new town, level up or progress in the story you get new armor, accessories, weapons, spells, etc.
Did this dev team play Final Fantasy? They keep giving us weapons (Which are cool) but where is the armor and other things? I know they are coming in 2.0..and it is right around the corner, but I can't help but wonder this everytime I see more weapons >.> Not complaining..just wondering lol ;o
Weapons are easier to make.
SE is rebuilding the Armour Files from the ground up in 2.0 so we can have a real Dying System. To release Sets of new amazing looks they would have to Build them from the ground up twice. That is massively expensive and, imo, a huge waste of resources.
They would also have to make a Minimum of 15 pieces of highly detailed Armour as opposed to 7 semi detailed weapons.
In recent interviews he actually said that when you claim them it goes to an instance, so the "2 versions" they probably done away with and went with this route instead since he has been saying two different things lately in regards to certain features.
So nothing is fully clear.
Considering that this is the "NM Challenge Type-A/B" that the producer's letter was talking about, I'm guessing we're going to be fighting multiple HNMs in these missions.
Also, I swear I remember him saying that primals will still stay but in a different way, which is the way that we know of now. Never remember him saying that we'll have both forms, considering that it contradicts the way that he views the main primals.
The problem with weapons is they will most likely be side grades.
If we had a diverse choice of drops that would encourage a wider part of the playerbase to participate after the excitement of having a new event dies down.
The concept of Skirmish sounds very Walk of Echoes to me (except being limited to one party >.>) I hope theres successive battlefields to unlock later down the line
Well...
^this. Not to mention AF, Vanya, Gryphonskin and Darksteel (class specific but crafted). True there are a few things that are weapon specific but it's not like weapons are the only gear that has been added in the last 5 major patches.
Skirmish looks good.
This is gonna be like Einherjar.
It's therefore going to be awesome.
I actually like the designs of the weapons. And to those complaining about having more weapons, while I see your point about armour and such, a lot of people (me included) don't have any of the endgame weapons (ifrit, moogle etc.) so it's nice to get another way of getting a decent weapon.
Hehe but in Einherjar our rewards were much much more diverse. Abj for (at the time) the best armor, end game amazing accessories. It could be though! Never know :)
Ah yeah, that stuff would be really nice but class only >_< I like it though! The problem is with the other stuff...none of it can be done with pick ups. There is no way to make a Linkshell message so despite the fact that I have a nice sized LS with solid members...I am unable to organize any events because people live different lives and log in at different times >_< That is another story but I do see your point!Quote:

I will just continue to wait until 2.0 haha
I don't care if they're flooding the level 50 weapon market. All it does is give me more fuel for the fire once housing comes out in 2.0 to jump on their buts to make weapon racks.
I'll get every sidegrade weapon there is if I can mount them all on my wall when I'm not using them. Thems be trophies, I wanna be able to sees them!
Those weapons look horrid.
But the idea of hunting down NMs in a pseudo Horde mode seems really fucking cool. Can't wait for that.
I like the fact that we get so many weapons to work towards. With the U/U being unmeldable it gives us more of a variety of stats to choose from.
Loot drop rate: 0.01%
I kid... I kid! :)
Everyone here is forgetting the most important part of this content
more achievments
And with some luck the achievements give us the armors ^^
We just got another whole tier of armor most players do not have already in the Lt. Rank GC armors and the Darksteel crafted tier.
I don't think players will catch up to that before 2.0 hits as Castra Novum isn't a cakewalk to farm from.
I think we're ok on armor for now. I'd rather the next set that comes out as dungeon loot come out with the new system, and with a new dungeon.
from now till the servers go down for data conversion 2.0 i think were getting nothing but this kind of stuff. more weapons to tide us over >.>
i rather have FUN i'll trade the weapons for that.Quote:

Finally! Something that people can't try to speed run through by running right past or sleeping all the mobs. My question is did they come up with some kind of counter to the BLM stacking for the flare spams? Or are we going to be kiting all the mobs to one location and flaring the crap out of all the mobs?
So, how much of the content will be limited to 30 minutes? Anyone keeping track?
this new... Skirmish seems to be some sort of concept design in testing.
either way the dev team & forum staff well be getting feedback good or bad.
live event pre 2.0, does this mean it will only exist as content pre 2.0? How will that affect odds to earn rewards from it?
