It takes about 20 minutes to create a group, then people quit when they find out they joined a group that is against addons. Funny how it works right? You can clearly state that it's an addon free group and people will still join only to quit when the group zones in. Why would I waste my time doing that ad nauseum? It's up to square enix to create an environment where people are afraid to cheat, I'm not willing to waste a single minute of my life forming a group in this environment.

There's nobody important to win over that isn't already on my side. Cheaters are not going to stop cheating regardless. I couldn't care less where any of you stand on this discussion. You're the one giving my thread exposure and every time you post in it you highlight the state of the issue. This thread is being moderated so clearly someone at square enix is going through the posts. You seem to love to throw accusations out without proof. I am going to say I would love to see definitive, 100% objective proof that the reason the party quit is specifically because of addons. My guess is that you are creating / joining trap parties, and people constantly saying they are past a certain mechanic when they aren't. You say that you feel your work is invalidated. Since you play WoW, you know damage meters are allowed there. I'd be willing to bet you are not doing mythic or m+, and your logs probably aren't much better than they are here. If I had to guess, I would say you are not very good at the game, hate the notion that people could be better than you, and instead of trying to improve, you want to justify your play by blaming everything on addons.

The irony of this post is pretty hilarious not gonna lie.

How are people going to find out if it is a "trap party" if they leave before one pull even happens when I say "so everyone understands this is a no addons group?" It's almost like cheaters cant think for themselves anymore and have to rely on addons to do everything for them.

When I played m+ in WoW I got all the achievements and mount though, I was a top percentile player without even using addons.

I do find it rich that you say people can't think for themselves, yet when asked to support your stance with proof, there is nothing there. Also if I read something like that I would also leave because who are you to tell me what to do with my game time? It has no impact on you. Mind you I barely do any content anyway as I do content in WoW instead so it doesnt concern me but the point stands, I would just leave, you are a drama magnet.

This is a thread born from not being able to get into a static because of logs...? Even though there are plenty of casual and midcore statics who don't care about logs?

Like, I've personally never had to submit logs to get into one, only hardcore groups really expect them because they want everyone to pull their weight with no exceptions.

Kind of funny bringing up WoW though because it's even worse over there than there. XD

As someone who's only played a year, I will say wow is a lot worse about asking for logs or pushing the meta to the point some ignorant people will harass you if you're playing what some considering off meta pick. However I do think finding a guild to raid with in WoW is easier than finding a static here. It maybe because I haven't found one here yet or I've only done one raid fight but I find statics here no they do not push logs but a lot of people push they want someone experienced, and if you're not at the point of progression there (say p11) they're not going to go back and kill the other two bosses to help you get to where they are whereas in WoW you pretty much do that weekly anyway so getting someone a little bit behind and catching them up is no issue. I also hate that Aether exist, nothing against the people or the servers themselves I just hate that everybody DC travels there to do anything.

If only.

But I imagine most people that are on here use discord, and well. Word travels fast.

Maybe I'm in a couple of recruitment discords but just to look see if I can find a static eventually that speaks to me that I might join so I don't know how social they actually are so ill pass that expertise off people have played this game longer than me

Also the fact they say "ill play wow where it's fair" is pretty comedic considering you need epic parses and m+ score for any serious content, but I assume that upsets them too since they seem to get rejected for content in both games.

I'm no pro player so I don't know what the average raider thinks when they see that, but if I saw a PF that said "no addons", I'd think that person doesn't want to be parsed, which means they probably play like cheeks and drag everyone else down. So, here we are again. I think your own insecurities are so severe that you make it everyone else's problem. You don't have to be a master at the game, but people will expect you to at least know the basics of the jobs you're playing (don't cry about meta, this is literally "hit your buttons in the right order and prioritized 2-minute windows" kind of stuff). You mean you have to pay for that in WoW? This just proves the point that if you make cheating more difficult, it becomes more rare and expensive for people to do. It becomes less normalized, which means the game becomes more fair. Why can't we have that?

In FFXIV, plugins like that are completely free, open-source and integrated in the launcher. WoW has nothing compared to the capabilities of FFXIV's API.

You'd have to be a statistical outlier to be further progressed than me in m+. Good luck. How did I call myself out? I don't care about proving anything to anyone on these forums, I know that I didn't use addons. If you play games to impress others I suggest doing something else.

I don't at all, but nice try making assumptions to suit your perspective? I'm an extremely easy going person in game. It's almost like people are different in totally different situations. On top of that, like I said, I have no issues starting or getting into groups in PF. It's only when I actively tried to avoid cheaters that it became slightly difficult to create a group. Only because people who use addons have a reading struggle and assume it's okay to join any party finder. We would fill up, zone into the raid, I'd say before we start "Just so we're clear, I do not want to play with people who are using third party tools as the PF description said" and someone would leave the majority of the time. After about 3 times of that happening, I unsubscribed and gave up on the game. Why would I waste over an hour of my time on a community that can't get by without cheating and isn't able to respect the wishes of other players to avoid cheaters?

If I didn't make any requests like that it would be easy to continue playing and progressing because it's not hard to make groups for savage content in PF. What is hard is avoiding cheaters. It's not about avoiding being parsed, it's about avoiding unfair play and accomplishing the savage raids without having third party tool assistance. I don't enjoy the content if someone is cheating on my team. It directly impacts my experience in a negative way. You wouldn't understand since you actively group up with cheaters in your static. Stop trying to understand things that are above your head.

I have serious doubts about that. I doubt you stream, so you can't prove it that way. Link your character. We can do a manual verification if that is really your character or not. Yeah, right between the six different ones that have been in operation for multiple years, and a bit under the article about the one that was only killed after almost a decade by a lawsuit rather than any actual engineering work.

Anyone who knows what they're looking for could kick off a mighty banwave in this game in a couple days with access to the server logs, a little scripting, and a spreadsheet. As it always has been, it is an enforcement problem, not an engineering problem.

Of course, this is assuming one has an interest in actually solving the extant botting problems, rather than grinding multiple unrelated axes under the catch-all guise of 'cheating'.
