Careful now :p knowing too much are demonized and can make it seem like you're one of the cheater!

Nothing suspicious about it when you consider I jump into conversations about 3rd party tools or threads that are obvious trolls. So the threads get deleted with my comments (for a good chunk of them).
I also only admitted to coming here to start an argument for this thread alone. If you look at my replies in other threads you can see I take part in regular discussion all the time.
In most posts I provide my opinion. When someone else pointlessly attacks me or another is when I get into arguments. There's only ever been 2 people in these forums that I have/had a negative bias for. Everything else is my opinion which I'm entitled to.
I know, I gave examples in regards to player movement and physics calculations being something the server has to trust from the client, goodness knows that would be murder on any server if it had to calculate the gravity and collision of hundreds of players. It's especially bad if you have high ping and had to wait for the server to tell where your character REALLY is before seeing the movement on your screen. I remember one game I played that did that and I stopped after 5 minutes, can't remember the name of it though. I think 1.0 might've been that paranoid when it came to the UI, it would authenticate whenever you wanted to open up a menu, so you had to wait for the server to say that yes, you can open up your character screen now. The client now at least retains a good deal of control whenever it needs something responsive.
I think the game is already good enough in regards to what it authenticates from the client, the most I want to see fixed is the animation lock bug that resets the lock when the client receives data back from the server that you successfully used a skill. That's something I think the client can be trusted with as, even if the client cheated and reduced the timer further, the server can still reject a skill if the timer on the server-side is still going.
In regards to the visual stuff vs cheats, yeah I know anti-cheats won't make a distinction, it'll go after both indiscriminately, I was speaking moreso on the morality of the two. I don't care if someone wants to wear a prettier dress (that I can't see anyway), but I do care if they start teleporting around the map or phasing through walls, etc. If the only way to solve the latter means destroying the former, then oh well.
As for anti-cheats, it would depend on the anti-cheat. Some are incredibly invasive and might trigger if a completely unrelated app opens up, others are system resource hogs that slow the game down too much, and others don't do jack to stop cheats. Some of these all at once. I also admit to not being familiar with how anti-cheats work, but I remember playing Maplestory back in the day and Gameguard was a useless pile of junk back then, never stopped hackers vacuuming every mob in the area towards them while they had invincibility cheats on.
Preventing the use of third party launchers is a good way to still being able to trace, if something fishy is going on, also... everything could be based on the client launcher not matching what the server wants and just not permitting the character to login and yes those people probably use other ways, but that is stuff that would be easier to nail down, once you only got one way to enter the game, as it is.
doesn't matter, until SE takes reporting seriously, we will still have the issues we have with the use of third-party tools to gain an advantage over other players. anytime there is discussion about things they can implement from the community people defend the third-party tool usage.
PC gaming has always been about tinkering with your software experience.
At this point is as if you were angry at people turning ON an option you rather they have OFF.
Besides, most of these people probably play the most anyway, pay a lot monthly and probably stay subbed even during the "content luls" of XIV.
As some people would say:"You don't pay their sub."
The worst part of this was people calling me a wintrader for having the title on day 5 after putting in the time. My sleep is still a wreck, but it's worth it to be King Bean. People always say that SE monitoring people's executable would be the end times, but personally I'd love to see it happen. They won't because that's a MASSIVE chunk of their income from the game but I can dream...
You are so wrong.
Well, reality will one day reach you.
Something like Gepard Shield would make this game unplayable - I doubt this game code can even work with a measure like that. So you can say this is just free game.
In the end is not like they can do something about it, or are even trying.
The porn creators keep the game very profitable.
No it wont as we all know SE wont do shi### and either ppl loose interest or cheaters just ruin the game fully, one way or another, im well aware of that lol
But i dont care what you do. I follow the rules and play as intended and if you feel the urge to cheat and mod just stay away from me...
for once i agree these crazy over the top cry babys posted crap like this before ban ban ban load computers with software detecting software totally mess up the game they don't care they can move to to the next game that piss's them off.
It seems the only solution is to get rid of the PC version of FFXIV and just have it on consoles. At least then it's harder to cheat.
Sure... Just ask SE to agree to forget all about improving the graphics that are scheduled for next year, increasing the furniture item limit in housing which is also scheduled for next year, oh... and while they're at it, they can code in to enforce all furniture placement properties to prevent people from creatively placing furniture. Yes, there's great potential here to make this game stagnant and very boring. World of Warcraft did that and look where it is now.
Think the PS4&5 can support this game all by themselves? Think us PC users would just buy this game for PlayStation and forget all about the improved graphics that were coming? Not when Starfield just came out.
I want to remind you that regardless if they change their character name, as long as you have the ID number found in their profile ID (which anyone can get from the lodestone), it won't matter how much time has passed unless the character is deleted permanently. That's how some of us keep track of users to avoid with a save tab folder full of ffxiv players who are incredibly toxic, or has a bad reputation.
You're exaggerating a bit here and forgetting one other small detail.
If PS4/5 couldn't support the graphics updates, the updates wouldn't be happening. They aren't happening just for the sake of PC players.
Xbox beta is starting early next year, probably just after 6.55 is released. Most PC gamers are also going to have either PS or Xbox because there are a lot of titles that don't get released on PC. While we don't have all the details yet, I suspect that PC players will be able to attach Xbox licenses to their current accounts just as PS can be attached (and vice versa).
I doubt SE would pull the plug on PC support at this point just to solve the mod problem but I also don't think the game would be killed if they did so. We don't know how many players are using mods or how many of those players feel mods are mandatory to enjoying the game.
The most they might do is think twice before releasing future multi-player titles to PC if they intend cross-platform play. Single player titles aren't a problem - there's no player interaction to be affected by use of mods. They might choose to segregate PC players from console players like many other games do if they want to release multi-player titles on PC.
IMO Segregation or dropping PC support on future multiplayer titles from SE isn't likely to happen. Full cross platform play is one of those hot buttons that generate more sales. If anything better measures would be implemented from the beginning to curb cheating by the small amount of problematic PC users. However those measures would have to hammer modding in general just to stand a chance at being effective.
Though it is funny in a few cases of a dev implementing full cross platform play. I recall a couple FPS games that did it because ppl wanted it then had all the console players complaining about losing to PC players because KB+ Mouse is superior to a controller on that type of game. There was also another that had ppl blaming players on Nintendo Switch for making it take longer for matches to start.
I know for a fact that the PS4 can't support it. It might be able to meet the minimum requirements barely, but it doesn't have a chance of meeting the recommended settings. The PS4 won't be able to take full advantage of the graphics updates. A quick search will tell you that much. People are predicting the PS4 support to die off soon after the next expansion. Look up the CPU and the GPU equivalent for the PS4. It's not enough. So unless you have a PS5, you're on borrowed time. Without the PC users, this game dies.
In fact, it's been said for years that the only reason we have such low item limits in houses was because of the PS4 limitations. I'm glad to see that it's finally changing. Item limits are being increased despite the PS4 limits. PCs can be upgraded and people can move up to the PS5.
So no, I'm not forgetting anything. PS4 will not last long. PS5 isn't capable of supplying the customer base required to keep this game going. You need the PC users.
Edit: The XBOX version that this is coming out on has the power to run it just fine with the new graphics update. It is stronger than the PS4. Pretty much everything is now. It's 10 years old! It's time to say goodbye.
I used the word "attempted" for a reason. Trust me, people have been keeping track of Bill Murray after the incident. The description of that youtube video should have any name updates. It's not likely to stop them, but it'll be there.
