Well I remember in an interview that he DID say he wanted new players in 2.0 to catch up with the Pre-2.0 players and will give them incentives to catch them up. (But who says 50+ will be just as fast, it just might slow down from there)

Ah fair enough, then yeah I can see the concern considering I don't think there's been talk of content at low or mid levels. The ride from 1-50 should be rewarding in exploring new areas and seeing new things but with our current map system if a new player takes 1 wrong turn in the shroud they're one shot for 9999 and then level 70 mobs load on their screen.
Well, the server framework, world and mob distributions are all supposed to be changed in 2.0 at least. Hopefully that issue will be resolved and the world a sufficiently fun place to explore for the time it takes to level. It's reasonable to guess that 2.0's leveling experience will be competent, even if not especially compelling.
I'd really like to know who said leveling is a hindrance. We know Reinheart translated it http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...426#post738426 and I dont doubt his translation skills but who is edo_colgon? Did he interview Yoshi and Yoshi said he views leveling as a hindrance? Or is he a member on the community that has concerns about how leveling is treated? This is in no way meant to be taken as an attack on Edo because that would be pretty dick to do but I ask as a curious person who is Edo?
I gave you my opinion on the subject in general. There is room for a variety of ways to get exp, just because this person dosent like this or that dosent mean someone else will like what the other person enjoys. You wont ever take the grind out of a MMO it will always be there in 1 form or another. More often than not when a thread like this is posted it is more about: its to easy or too hard or dare I say it players wanting stuff and not wanting to work for it.
I'm not targeting anyone specific and don't mean to, and likewise I wouldn't bother with names. But there was a couple of posts in the thread that got locked earlier today that someone directly claimed it to be a hindrance and, and there have been claims made before about it both in this and other forums related to FFXIV and not related with similar opinions.
I decided I had enough of it.
The reason I threw a "WTF?" in there is because you share the exact opinion that I do on the matter, and I expressed it in another thread (like I was forced to here as well).
Quoting me with what you said made it sound like you thought I was seriously saying the leveling experience should be removed because it's hindrance; my original post was about why we don't just remove it IF we are to view it as a hindrance.
Anyways, thanks for explaining yourself better.
The leveling system shouldn't be looked at as man I need to get to level cap asap and do endgame. The system should be looked at as I just knocked out this leveling content as a gld and now I'm excited to see how I progress as a lancer through the levels, will I be able to handle situations the same or will I have to rethink how combat works for a lancer?
I would love to see some nostalgia-blasting when going through some NMs I fought before on another class. "Dear god this is so much easier when I can actually DODGE!!" *Former Lancer on Pugilist*
Would still help to improve the memorability of the leveling experience first though... "Leveling... that thing with a few awesome EXP Parties, a few fun dungeons, and a lot of leves and grinding."
To be clear of my opinion: I like the pace of leveling, though I'd like to feel like I'm actually doing something when progressing. Switching from grinding lvl 21 antelope to level 27 antelope is not that. Having actual hard fights, real challenges, or the like about once every other level is just one of many ways I occasionally imagine while grinding for how leveling could be a bit more fun. Lucid daydreaming--beats even the second monitor movie.

Edit: I know trolling is good for post counts, but jeesh. A good portion of the last couple pages have been nothing but incitement. May need to start a new thread, with a very, very clear goal in mind, probably aimed at what improvements can be made to the leveling experience regardless of what we already think, on the whole, of its current state.
'You like EXP Parties? Then, would you like to see them a bit more predominant? Anything you'd like to make them more intense or even less hectic, especially through a way in which the two aren't exclusive?'
Hmm perhalps I did miss understand what you are trying to say. I do apoloogize for this miss understand here. I am just tired of players complaining how hard things are when in fact they are not hard at all. I would prefer leveling a tad slower while removing power leveling. It would be nice if SE is gonna leave power leveling that they add skill levels on weapons that are seperate from a players job level. Oh ya just like FFXI, and theres a reason to have job level seperate from weapon level. This would infact hindering power leveling because those players that got PLed will now have to go back and level their weapons.
Greetings, everyone!
I want to thank you all for participating in this discussion about leveling. I can understand how this can be a touchy subject for some, so I want to thank most of you for staying on topic. Unfortunately, it seems that the discussion has run its course, so the thread will now be locked. However, I do highly recommend sharing your thoughts about leveling through the SQUARE ENIX Support Center site's Suggestions & Feedback link. Once again, I want to thank all of you for voicing your feelings about this, and I hope everything works out well for all of you!
