Okay? I don't understand the point of this post.

I also cried... at how painstakingly average the expansion is. I seriously wonder what other media do the people that praise the story consume. Is their only exposure to other media a childrens colouring book? Or if they only play visual novels so they have no clue what good gamplay actually looks like.
I'm just happy they didn't make another FFXV. If they have to take money from this game to make sure that game doesn't happen again, I'm for it.
Oh, for sure. It felt incredibly scripted, predictable, and uninspiring. I was laughing during most of these cutscenes because they were so silly.
Speaking of deus ex machinas, I'm glad dynamis hasn't really resurfaced since 6.0.
There's no point of his post other than to troll you. You didn't like the MSQ which upsets them so they try to upset you in return, lol.
Very good to hear FF16 is a great success. I will look forward to playing it during the weekend.
As long as FF16 has strong sales and is widely praised, more chance FF14 will also have a better future.
Lol I'm sorry what ? If anything it'll prove that they should just use the money they get from FFXIV and put it into future projects that are not tied to FF14 at all because it works and its a success, it wont make them go "oh wow now we got so much money let's just put it all on FFXIV !"
I for one want ff16 to do average/bad not entirely flop but give them the idea it might not be a good idea to bleed one product for another when the product they are bleeding from survives on longevity in its content (i.e it's an mmo).
I recommend not buying 16 or waiting to do so when it goes on sale to oppose the corpo that is Square. That is all we really can do as consumers.
This might be hard to hear as this is an mmo forum, but a lot of people dont like MMOS.
15 is not a game i like, but its a comercial success.
16 has a lot of what makes 14 good to casual players, plus stealign ppl from dmc/kh/and platinum to make it a better feeling action game than whatever 15 was.
16 is going to also be a comercial success if rather widespread enjoyment of the demo is to be understood.
if all the people that put heavy time into 14 (and not casual only for story) players just did not buy 16, it would probably not even that much of a dent to matter, the audiance base is not 1:1
it barely matters now since a greater half of 14s audiance cant play 16 till over a year out cause sony times exclusive anyways
XI player here, that is not how it works............

Nah money isn't the issue, FFXIV makes more than enough to support itself with regular improvements and still bring SE a marginal profit, its just the manpower that would've been impacted. Unlike western companies that generally hire/outsource a ton of folks, then boot out as much as they can after a project is done, Japan is much more for lifetime careers(usual kept on until the employee themselves decided to leave) but in turn is notorious for much much smaller teams/number of employees, lots of OT...
Seems most reviews are giving it 9 or 10, and Digital Foundry even said the game was so good he might give FF14 a try (I think the reviewer dislikes MMOs). So far seems it is highly acclaimed, with Famitsu giving it a 39/40 I believe, so good news for Yoshida and crew ^^
I hope all the best for Yoshi-P and FF16, and I would love to buy the game but as it currently stands it'd be closer to a 700€ purchase as I'd need to buy a PS5 with it.
Hopefully they do manage to do the PC port, though who knows how long that will take... They apparently have 6 month exclusivity deal with Sony, but the PC port hasn't had too much work so done on it last I heard.
Considering Square's recent release track record... I think it kind of does work that way.
Or were projects like Forspoken, Marvel Avengers and Babylon's Fall funding their game development... Or maybe their somewhat smaller projects like Bravely Default 2, Octopath Travaller 2, FF Pixel Remasters and other various re-releases... Or maybe Valkyrie Elysium or Star Ocean Divine Force were surprise hits that sold tens of millions of copies...
I believe SE financials show them making 130.3 billion yen on phone/browser games, 62.2 on MMO, and 87.1 on HD games (like Forspoken, etc). Thus most of the money funding things like FF16 probably comes from profit of mobile, not MMO, games.

i mean FFXIV has rakes in the cash constantly from subs alone not including any extras like monthly subs for retainers or the app companion. Then you get into the people switching from the free trial to go beyond HW for game sales of FFXIV and then the mogstore. So yea. FFXIV is a bank for their other SE other IPs for game development and projects.
I find it immensely amusing that people are trying to say FF16 isn't an RPG.
I guess Tales of Arise, along with the rest of the Tales of series aren't either.
the fact that you're being so sincere with FFXIV carrying the company kinda is the biggest shill talk for a video game Ive ever heard. Please, the game is good but not THAT good. Even you who hates this game would think that statement is underserved and false considering your interpretation to the "quality" of this game. Unless....you really are a SE white knight all along?
If it was just FFXIV carrying them, SE as a company would be in a lot of trouble.
We can just make some guesses but I would assume they would atleast be bought by Sony or someone else lmao or would struggle to deliver games and eventually go bankrupt. FF14 carries them so much in the modern age it is not even funny. The biggest part is they dont even have to do much outside the few patches per year, it is very simple and relatively easy to upkeep. All money they get from 14 they pump into other projects, and these also make more profit through the reputation of 14 & FF in general and SE has build with it. SE never was better off. But this positive money loop is mainly build upon the golden days of FF thus gaining the reputation and 14 in the modern age especially.
I was actually curious about the weight behind these claims and here are the numbers I was able to pull up.
Top 3 grossing revenue for Square developed and produced games are;
3. Final Fantasy VII & Remake - 2B
2. FFXIV - 3.2B
1. Space Invaders 13.9B
So while FFXIV has made the second most grossing revenue for Square, it is a 13 year old MMO. Compared to the standalones before and after it, that\\'s actually not very good.
