Or simply make your own party that doesnt require discord or any other stuff? The use of other tools that doesnt even add anything to the game is bannable now? Discord is not even addon or plugin, its just tools to communicate between player outside of the game, what next? are you gonna banned people who play closely together using mouth to communicate next to each other instead of chatting?

Steam has an overlay and voice chat and you can officially buy the game there.

Some keyboards are better than others for typing in chat; make them not work so that everyone has to use the game controller interface for very slowly typing out messages in the midst of combat.

I use Discord for FFXIV to chat with others about the story of the game, activities, and communicating during high-end duties. I'm not going to let others who either do not use Discord or abuse third-party programs via Discord discourage me from ever using the program.

it SAYS ANYTHING that specifies as CHEATING and CHANGING of anything UI, graphical, even characters. Some mods that include, ACT, cactbot, death timer, UI changes mod, reshaders, Gshade, XIVAlexander, character mods, CMTool and so much more. While I do agree certain buffs such as timers should be a countdown of a cd such as Inner Release which was specified.

But you cant just say discord should be banned because of it specified as a third party tool, there are many 3rd party tools that we use on a daily basis. Payment, social networking browers (google, facebook, twitter etc.), Service providers, social chat apps (discord, skype, slack, steam + chat etc). I can make a list of more third party tools but you see my point. Until the developers say what mods specify we CAN and CANNOT use, discord is safe.

Answer me this, has any streamer been banned for using a third party tool for an vc overlay? No. Did they specify of it taking any advantage on communication programs such as discord? No, raids or no, it’s an everyday party tool that doesn’t change anything in game as I stated earlier.

For those questions there is only one answer: we do not know. :)

And i guess, the people are not so upset because they ban people for violating the ToS. The people are upset because it happened so suddenly. They are also upset because after reviewing the new ToS there are 30 light years² of grey area in it. And it looks like, that you can take down players for 10 days with some mass reports.

So if someone made a program that if you set your battle log to only display damage dealt, you could copy-paste it and it would calculate everyone's dps ...would it be ok to parse? Could I then casually post the numbers in party chat after a run if I made no other comment?

I wouldn't be using a program that interacts with the launcher, game files or data, nor am I technically harassing any players, saying they suck or being abusive.

This whole fiesta barely effects anyone if no one says anything as he admitted he cannot tell whats on your PC.

The announcement literally says "Use of tools that allow players to more easily complete content." in the announcement.

I would argue that Discord does this on a far wider scale, than any add on or plugin. There was no clarification on whats ok and whats not, so we can only take these words at face value.

So please stop cheating, you're ruining the experience of the game for everyone.

So let's say I'm into robotics and make a little robot to press keyboard buttons. And then program it to hit the buttons to execute a rotation for me? Am I creating a third party tool or does it not "interact with the game"? ;)

If you have the Discord Overlay turned on (puts a list of whose talking in the top left of the game) then it's interacting with the game :)

We should ban all people who use resolution greater than 1024x768. Since people who play on higher resolution can see more, put more UI elements on screen, it is extremely unfair for people who can't afford higher resolution monitor!

While we are at it, please also ban people who have CPU and GPU capable of running the game at 10+ fps. So I won't feel like I am at an disadvantage of having a potato PC UwU.

They banned Discord back when it was called FFXIVAPP before the rebrand and change in focus to all games instead of only XIV, I don't see what the issue would be with giving it the boot now. Frankly, they should have started handing out bans for Discord links in PF/chat when those were being bandied about for RMT and ERP purposes.
