I mean, FFVII remake is a good game with very good boss design, the only problem is Nomura turning a beloved story into one of his destiny and time traveling teen novels. It's rather have a game with a crap story and good gameplay than meh both.
Yoshida on the other hand seems like a competent developer and leader, gets projects done in time without many hurdles, and loves the game he plays. The problem is that he's predictable, and a trend chaser as of late. XVI reeks of "made for American audiences" early 2010s design philosophy, with a dark and brooding male lead, action combat (because turn based combat is too complicated for Americans and a fresh action rpg means thinking originally), and all elements Americans love (the blood, the swear, the sex and the gay) while taking away all those anti-edgy and dark stuff, like Cactuars and Tonberries (because Moogle has to be in for contractual obligations).
If anything, this might be the time where SE stroking Nomura's ego for his crazy bs might be better than SE stroking Yoshidas's for being absolutely mediocre.
