Having a similar issue myself.

Super Bump Bros. 64 3D-U!
Stick with us Rike. We'll keep your thread alive and get this resolved for everyone who might even have this when they reactivate themselves.
Bump!! Would like to see these guys get their issue resolved -- especially now that discontinued content has been announced. Tick-tock!
Bump, Bump, Fizz, Fizz. Oh what a relief it is...to be able to log in.
I'm trying to rack my brain for possible reasons of the problem. I've skimmed most of the thread, but i'd like to condense the information a bit.
here's what you've tried:
1) Complete unistall/reinstall
2) reset of config (delete mydocuments folder and reopen config)
3) login from various locations (Kentucky and Canada, using different PCs)
4) firewall/ports/ISP check
Did i miss anything?
I have a couple questions
1) can we get the PC specs of the canada location and their ISP? there may be a parallel between the two that is masking some data. many ISPs are similar, so it's entirely possible you got 'lucky' and happened to get two different ISPs that are restricting the same port. I had this issue briefly in FFXI when i switched states.
2) have you tried a proxy yet?
3) did anything 'odd' happen before you couldn't log in? did you log out normally? did you DC? did the server consolidation happen between successful and unsuccessful logins?
4) if you know your exact location, it would be good to see if your character is appearing at all. It's possible your character is popping into the world, and immediately crashing. do you have a friend that can stand near where you last logged out while you try to login?
---------------
This is not necessarily a game-side issue. but it may very well be. there's a couple things left to try before we give up for sure.
for other people having the same issue do we know their locations/ISPs? i find it unlikely there is wide-spread corruption to the point multiple people cannot login. peopel i know on the east coast tend to have more problems than west coast. but i dont' know many people who play from west coast so that could be my sample of data is just too small. I would first guess packet loss is a contributer. but most of the time it is multiple factors causing the issue.
As far as i can tell, 30002 error seems to be a ping type error. packet loss may be related. I get this error randomly and have to wait a couple minutes before i can log back in. when i crash I usually get this error, or i just CTD with no error.
/bumpers! what i dont get he can log in the gameon dif chars just not his one
It's probably a series of things.
my best guess right now is this:
In FFXI specific zones were tied to specific ports. blocking a certain port may cause you to be unable to load into lower Jeuno (as an example) if you were unlucky enough to logout tehre, you were stuck in limbo untill you unblocked the port. using a proxy and tricking the system into thinking it was somewhere else helped.
I would guess that this is most likely the case. it is unlikely there is data corruption server side. it's possible but unlikely. mainly because multiple people are having the problem. they also likely raid/backup the servers so unless he somehow corrupted both the main data AND all backups. . .
this is why i'm asking for the ISP of his friend in Canada. I'm in Cali and i have comcast broadband. I know for a fact that comcast restricts netflix/hulu/hbo bandwidth and caps it. they restrict ports like these because lots of people use this service and it costs them a lot of bandwidth/money. also certain ports are more prone to hacking and are blocked based on ISP. it's entirely possible his friends ISP is owned by the same company that owns his ISP. so that may not have made a difference at all. This is the purpose of my questions 1 and 4 above. a combination of a restricted port and packet loss may be causing the server to be unable to ping his toon.
I would like to recommend he try turning his phone into a wi-fi hotspot and login that way. this is a less secure connection and may yield some results.
The other possibility is something happened when the server consolidation happened. this is the one real possibility for me that both the main data and the backup were corrupted. but again i find this unlikely. unfortunately only GMs have access to game data and they can't do anything unless you're actually logged in. he may have logged out right on top of one of those beastmen crate things or one of the other new structures they added. in which case they would need to go in and change his location manually. his character can't be pinged because it's in a location that the code is telling him he can't exist.
Also keep in mind that the NA GMs/devs don't really have access to the original code, so they are working from translated data. they don't have the same access as the GMs in japan. (pure speculation based on experience in tech service related fields) GMs are essentially field service engineers. they have good knowledge of the product, but they don't have the same know-how as the actually person who wrote the coding. so unless it's covered in their training courses they really can't do a lot. not because they don't want to, but really because they can't.
As an example, when a GM moves your toon, I think they have to be able to target you. they then run a script that tells the server 'move this object i have targeted to this location' so unless his character is physically online the GM can't move him. it woudl need to be moved from the backend.
Another possiblity is to find an NA player who is currently in Japan. they could try to login to his toon and see if removing the packetloss issue helps at all.
Don't forget Michigan. Michigan is Comcast (In particular, I'm using Michigan State University internet, and when I play FFXIV, I don't use the wifi because on the 5th floor of my dorm most rooms don't even get a signal, so I hard wire into the internet), Kentucky is Insight which is owned by Warner. I'll ask my friend in Canada what he has, but I'm 100% positive it's not Insight, and I'm pretty sure it's not Comcast. The other thing is Insight is super open and restricts nothing. All my ports are open though. I've cruised through where my character should be, which is in Western Thanalan, I think around the camp. I don't have issues with my other character there. I even tried a log in and out test with her.
I think that maybe the last time I logged out, the game crashed as I exited game, and since I was heading to bed, I didn't think anything about it. The last time I was logged in was January 4th. The server merge happened in March. I came back around May 5th, which is also when I discovered the error.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean by Proxy, so I can't answer that yet.
I think you might be logging into an area that doesnt' exist then. talk about bad luck. I'd try logging in and seeing if a friend can locate your toon in west thanalan. do you happen to know about where you logged out at? the closer you can get the better. maybe get your whole LS on a man hut sweep :p
a proxy allows you to mimic a different location. IE: someone in japan can use a proxy to make the server think they are in the US by jumping the signal to the proxy before communicating with the SE server. it would allow us to determine if it's truly a location issue. essentially your data will be routed along a different path. packet loss can worsen depending on what proxy you use, but it's another data point.
i use to use Insight when i was in Indiana. I had some issues playing some games with them. But i was also way out in the boonies and almost 10 miles from the fiberoptic cable. had several miles of copper cable to lose data on. they installed a closer fiber optic cable after a couple of years and that fixed some problems. I wouldn't rule that out completely. a lot of time the tech guys there don't really know that much. again i think your issue may be a combination of things.
Someone was posting that they had an issue accessing the update in Japan when they have an NA copy. they had to use a proxy to update (but did not need it to play) so i'm wondering if during the merger somehow your data think's its suppose to be somewhere else. it's a long shot but at this point might as well try anything and everything.
I believe the patch that introduced the new camps/structures happened before march. can anyone confirm that? i know they moved a lot of mob locations around and added random beastmen camps. if you were near broken water/natalan when you logged out you could be right on top of one of those structures that was added since you left. there may not be code that says 'if i can't exist here, move me there' but we won't nkow that unless a GM/dev posts that this is not possible.
You might also change your DNS settings and use google's free DNS server. I remember some people having this issue in Beta. switching DNS and IPv4 to IPv6 (or vice versa) helped. I really don't think that will help but again: might as well try anything and everything
I remember exploring the new camps and activating a few Achievement NPCs just before they started charging. It was right around my winter break.
Problem is, while I would like to try some of your methods, a lot of my friends aren't playing, or I can't find them due to friend lists being unique to a character.
I'm gonna hold out and see what SE can do. I'm in the city of Bowling Green, and I'm not that far from Insight's office here. It would be nice if they had a feature to home point you or send you back to your starting city in an emergency...
If you can tell me how to do the proxy thing and walk me through it, I'll try it.
do you have a new LS on your alt? or did you nto bother playing at all really because your main was MIA?
if you can't find anyone you can shout maybe. have you logged into an alt and submitted GM ticket? they may have a creative way of accessing your main from an alt if they can trace back and see it tied to a parent account.
They probably can HP you. but you have to be logged in to call the GM. . .
As for the proxy, I've seen other people on the forums suggest hotspot shield. They were having a different error, but if it's truly a location issue this will help pinpoint that. it may reduce the number of 'hops' you need to do before connecting to the server, which may be enough to get your character logged in.
I've been solo leveling my alt. The one person I had on my friend list and I can remember her name is almost always afk when I contact her, so getting into that shell has been a chore, and then my other shell, my friend who's in Canada hasn't been playing, so I can't get that one to help.
The thing is, The login music never changes. It feels like the signal to load him onto the server stalls out. Normally, you select the character, and then the now loading icon appears on a black screen while the crystal prelude plays for about 5-7 more seconds, then the music changes to the area you're loading into until the screen unblackens. In our case, you select, and then the crystal prelude plays for about 30-45 seconds until the error pops up, and then the music stops with it. I know in XI characters would pop in and then you would have the error about your character already being logged in. I never get anything like that in this case.
I've also tried asking GMs, but they won't do anything unless my main is logged in. They just send an automated message saying they can't do anything.
I'll try the proxy method in the next few days and see what pops up.
There is no specifc error for your character is already logged in. when this happens you get the 30002 error again.
It's a 'ping' type error as far as i can tell. it just signals a time out, it doesn't specify what kind of time out. the string afterwards might, but only a dev can aswer that and they haven't been helpful. that doesn't necessarily mean they don't' want to. it could be they just dont' have access to every possible error code.
what i'm seeing happening (through you) is that you're trying to load in. your computer is telling the FFXIV server 'I am here!' and the FFXIV server is either 1) not getting the message, and you're timing out because you're not getting a signal back from the sever or 2) it's trying to send the signal back to you, but your'e not getting the signal back. so the server is saying 'I see you!' but ther's no signal saying 'Yay! we agree!'
yay for talking goign on here >.> no mater what ppl say i feel this is SE end and they need to fix it or tell us how to, a lil faster then they beeen. /bump
If it is something on SE's end it's more an inefficiency in routing. I seriously doubt it's corruption. And i have big doubts he' sin an area he can't exist.
I know a few poeople after match have been experiencing gateway changes after pings. This is causign them to DC. the issues could be related. there are a couple ways to fix this issue. but really we're tkaing crap shoots in the dark and hoping something sticks.
btw, didn't you play on Siren in FFXI? your name looks familiar.
This weekend I attempted to connect with a friends 4G phone, same error but as usual could connect with the an alt. I also used a few of those proxy software, battleping, WTFast and a few others, still unable to connect.
I'm a Leviathaner myself.
I doubt it's character corruption but it has to be something on SE's end. Not a huge amount of people are having this precise error. Rare cases are bound to happen. And rerouting methods don't work for us. I just sincerely think it's an issue from the server merge. At this point, the most parsimonious answer is that there's a problem on the SE side finding the character data on the server. The character is "there" but the data is located elsewhere.
The fact I can't log in from 3 locations or through proxies makes it far too complicated that it would be a routing issue.
The best thing would be a simple investigation by SE to actually figure out what's going on. In the mean time... I await the promised server reset :)
And I hope it works out for you!
At the end of the day, I'm so chill, I don't care if I miss it... but dammit, I wanted it. It's just irritating, because it seems like the problem is starting to mount up.
Yeah, idk whats up with SE beign so slow if your payign for a char and cant log in thats sad. SE shouldnt charge you for days you couldnt get on.
did you try a different DNS? i don't think that will really help at this point, but it's worth a shot still. I know some people are having disconnect issues. I was talking to someone online yesterday and they were changing gateways every half hour to an hour. this caused him to disconnect frequently. for whatever reason this may be happening every time you try to login with a specific character.
did you also try switching from IPv6 to IPv4 or vice-versa?
------------------------------
How to:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...cp-ip-settings
I switched to the google dns server, no change.
It appears my Uverse gateway and Linksys WRT310Nv2 don't allow me to do IPv6, unless I'm missing something both seem to not support it yet.
I don't think there is anything that can be done on my end, this is a SE issue. I made an alt just for testing purposes and it can stay logged in non-stop.
hmmm
interesting.
Let's try a couple more things
1)Please try resetting your router to factory default then. something may be weird in your nvram since it looks like you have an older router.
2) you may also check to see if there is a firmware update to help you support IPv6. I'm still noobish in this area, so i'm not sure if a firmware update will allow you to enable IPv6 or if you will require an entirely new router to try it out.
I don't think the lack of IPv6 is the problem but it may be. especially if you're not translating correctly. IPv6 launch was back in June. so this is a fairly recent global change that people may not be accounting for. did your friend have IPv6 enabled on his router when you tried to login on his PC? how about when you tried to connect to the mobile hotspot?
Lusavari,
do you have IPv6 on your router? your problem has been going on considerably longer. so I'm skeptical this will be the problem. but again. always worth a shot!
--------------
also try this:
http://test-ipv6.com/
I updated my firmware after June 6th, so It should be there. The problem started before IPv6 went live though. Pretty sure IPv6 isn't the issue. My present router in Kentucky was bought in March. In Michigan, I tend to hardwire into the system when I play.
BUMPERS! /10
Hello. Just got this error tonight while doing the Summer event. Ran my first Character thru no problem, started Second Character got about 2/3 of the way done and just continually crash.
Any fix for this yet? Should I reinstall the game?
I think your issue is slightly different from the one we're addressing Luna :( We can't log onto the game at all. But no, there is presently no fix. For ours or yours.
Well I was wondering, because it's the same Error Code, and as of 30 min ago I can no long log into the game. It locks on me before Character selection.
You're welcome to keep bumping. I do sincerely hope you're not having our problem though :< Rike and I reactivated our accounts, and our main characters cannot be logged on at all. If you do have our problem... prepare to be here for a while.
Bumping with breakfast.
evening bump!
Midnight bump.
4:30 bump! casue i forgot the one night i did it 2 times tonight!
Just before noon Central bump!
Bump!
Used my alt last night to do the summer event, game definitely seems to run smoother. Just wish I could play for real now.
Dinner time bump.
