Warning for "Grief" Tactics?!

i agree not knowing what you did wrong is such an absurd thing ,i don't understand what's the point in hiding it and i hate the way they handle it . if i am going to report someone for something serious is not good enough for me to just ban them i would like them to know why i reported them , same goes to me .

People usually get in trouble for this if they haven't clicked the setting to not write the emote in the chat log option.

Alternatively, if the word motion is written after the emote it doesn't write to the log either. example: '/splash motion'

It is only OP side, really difficult to tell what is the cause of warning

DC, dropping tank stance even refusing to perform the role as a healer seem unlikely to get a warning. I believe if the warning to be warrant there must be something on top of DC/dropping tank stance/not reviving, something in verbal argument or at least swearing
Yet, only OP and the GM involve will know the true cause

You're assuming they are a victim, but no one here would know if they were or weren't for certain.
I can't really blame people being skeptical about OP's story considering their post history, and that there might be other reasons the situation played out the way that it did.
Of course getting stalked, harassed, and sending death threats is wrong and should never happen. That we can agree on.
I remember a little while ago, someone from the forum was being blasted on twitter because they made some comments on female glamour. Some of those twitter users said they were going to find him in game just to bother him. I found that kind of behavior pretty appaling, even if I didn't agree with the guy's post.

We don't know the full story, this much is true.

But there's a huge difference between genuine skepticism, and coming into the thread and just insulting the OP while pretending to be skeptical. A lot of people aren't even entertaining their side of the story, and are just assuming they've done something wrong while making disparaging comments about their character.

As far as tank stance is concerned, if you level sync it turns it off. This includes getting d/c in a dungeon and logging back in when it syncs you upon return.

That is assumed because they got a warning. The GMs tend to be correct in their assessment that the ToS has been violated in some way. Is it possible there was some kind of error in judgement? Sure, I mean the chance of that happening isn't 0%. But it seems unlikely.
However, an argument could be made that the ToS can be a bit too strict, and the penalties heavy handed

i keep seeing that repeated. I can understand that people are often very attached to their accounts, however we don't own them, irrespective of how much money has been spent. Someone who has spent thousands has the same privileges as a sprout, and the same restrictions as well. it doesn't change (nor should ) how a GM interprets the rules. Not that I am in any way stating that you did, I don't know, and no one here can intervene.

If the person valued their account as much as they say they do, they would be nicer in-game. I can only hope more people start getting an attitude adjustment honestly.

Didn't seem right to me, but I tested it with Trusts and it does work this way.
So I stand corrected, there is a scenario where tank stance drops without player input.
Not sure how I never noticed that before, since I'm fairly certain I must have DC'd while tanking leveling or 50/60/70/etc. before.

At any rate, apologies to OP since that was the major issue I had with their story.
Hope you fill out the appeal and that works out for you then.

I'm glad their penalties are heavy handed and that their enforcement of the ToS is as strict as it is. If they weren't as strict or if they didn't resort to the responses how they do now then people would only be more inclined to skirt around the ToS. It's really not that difficult to abide by them.

I mean, yeah we don’t know the details. But we do know it was enough to merit somebody reporting them, and that the GM did whatever due diligence is required of their job, and that said GM decided it was indeed enough of a violation to merit a warning.

That the OP is vehement in saying they’ve done nothing wrong, and seems to care more about a “blemish in a perfect record” more than trying to understand what of their behavior could possibly be interpreted as reportable gameplay is very telling. Moreover when they admit to making questionable gameplay decisions that could very easily be misunderstood as malevolence.

Most people would just take this up directly with a GM and chalk it up to a learning experience, and perhaps offer insight on how to avoid future infractions without threatening to go full on rage mode.

I hope OP figures this out, and hope they do indeed find themselves innocent if that is the case. But if it isn’t I hope they accept the GM decision with grace and let it be.

I’ve gone back and read some of the OPs responses. I also recall a lot of their responses in other threads with a better than thou attitude about how they present themselves. I think this mark in their account is more than likely justified. Like they’ve had to eat their own words finally. Time to change tactics or more importantly, change attitude

The strange thing here is whether the person made the report or not is only the first step, it is within the discretion of a GM to decide whether the instance warrants a particular action to be carried out in response. So it's on as much as the GM as it is the player as to whether something can be construed as being against the ToS.

But whilst we're on this tangent of people getting upset with others. The ultimate fact remains that they took the conscious decision in their behaviour. - They and they alone, just accept the responsibility that comes with your behaviour. Either think about what you do or write before you do it, or don't at all. Even better; if you get sanctioned and you disagree with the action carried out by the GM then you can try and dispute it. At that point if 3 (inclusive of the original reporter) people deemed it inappropriate then it probably was. Besides, regardless of how you try to rationalise it. If your subsequent comment on another forum boils down to "Can't beat em, join em" Then you don't really paint an innocent picture in that regard.

People seem to be under the impression that a report will always lead to an action being carried out on the person being reported.

It's been said in this thread before that sometimes people get marked for behavior that happened almost a year ago. A friend of mine got sent a lil email over a retainer name he changed months ago (changed it due to its less than innocent nature, but not before someone saw it on the MB). We might be focusing too much on this one particular incident, and not considering this may be from a terribly long time ago.

Don't know if this is intentional as to either watch player behavior, or to put distance between the reported and the reportee.

Nobody's pointing fingers. They're just indicating that op has blatantly admitted to doing things that would technically be against the tos and also how GMs have the capability to investigate what did or did not happen. In addition, people pointed out that this was a warning that can be challenged if one so wished. Was it fair? We don't know because we don't have the context required, all we have to work off of is what op has said and since they are the one with the warning it can be difficult to ascertain whether or not they are telling the truth.

tl;dr op has been belligerent in their defense even when given advice on what to do next and people don't appreciate that.

I haven't been through the whole thread but I can tell you what your problem is, its your attitude. Even your exchange with the GM was rude and demanding. You didn't contact them with an attitude of trying to resolve and issue, you contacted them with an attitude of " I don't deserve this mark I am too good and a paragon of the community get rid of it".

OP's behavior tells me there was a bit more than what was described. What was described is almost enough that they weren't totally in the clear when it comes to getting a warning.

Even telling people 'hey sorry, internet problems' can go a long way. People can't read your mind, for all they know they had a tank bail on them during their EW experience and the GM probably had to deal with something similar lately. A lot of factors can add up, but attitude and just being honest about what's going on can dispel a lot of situations, and prevent getting reported.
