I am not disputing that. Many instances of corruption of faith and using it as means for justifying atrocities have occurred within history. I just take issue with people blaming it solely on faith and religion. When in fact, even in the absence of faith these atrocities still happen.

It remembers me of a Netflix show, Midnight Mass, where a priest does a thing with blood and summons a vampire to become an angel of god or something.
What this has to do with this threat? Nothing. I just want to be here.

Okay, I KNOW you’re trolling, but I just have to say that as a Christian, I have always respected how FFXIV handled religion and gods. The XIII trilogy, specifically with Lightning Returns, always had my eyes rolling with how blatantly insulting the story was towards the idea of God. But I was always amazed with how well FFXIV handled the concept of religion and worship. The characters seek to stop the beast tribes, but never leaned into insulting their beliefs or stomping on it to get what they wanted. The existence of beast tribe quests basically proves this. Anyway, yeah. I burst out laughing when I read the title of this thread.

The least of XIII's problems, by a mile, but valid point.

I prefer to forget that dumpster fire ever existed.

None of the games in the FF series have ever shied away from smacking down corrupt religions.

It was the major plot point in FFX that the Church of Yevon was perpetuating an evil upon the land and had to be stopped.

I won't be surprise if the storyline gets censored in the coming days in majority of the countries.

A lot of FFs actually take a pro Christianity and Muslim stance. There are always elements showing the power of prayer, defeating and exposing false gods and idols, having faith, etc. It's no surprise that one of the most popular FFs, FF7, has the most references to Christianity in the series.

Not only is Ultima referred to as "the Lord" by Barnabas for most of the Waloed arc, one of Ultima's forms spawns from a Christian style cross. Ultima claims to be the Creator, who gave the world magic and made humanity. I was getting kind of uncomfortable during some of the Waloed discussions, lol.
