No biggie then. I was expecting them to ACTUALLY nerf it. lol
I read some of the thread and while I would agree seal gains need balancing.
Maybe even increasing (to 15 a leve?) I think the GC items should remain something that takes time to get.
But I actually think I would simply prefer to see many more and interesting leve's, and ways to gain seals.
The 15mins stand on the spot bored leve's removed or changed.
Maybe more something like
- Escort mission (npc runs from treespeak to EM/hamlet but actually fights with you not just standing still.
- Joining the fight against the Imperials attacking = seals per mob killed. (~level mobs only though)
- Stopping local beast tribe attacking/doing something
(several waves over 5-10mins 1min cooldown between waves all waves must be defeated within 10mins)
- Caravan chocobo hunt, ones done a runner hunt it down before it dies (your just given a direction and a time limit)
All of the ideas above could have almost random amounts or types of mobs (area appropriate) , several routes for some meaning it would provide more fun then the simple leve's we have atm.
If its only a change to 15 minutes from entry before you can re-enter... then... what real impact does this have? Were people perhaps trying just for the first couple of chests and re-entering right away?
We need a way to select the grand company leve, now that we can earn more seals we need to not get stuck with the one that requires us to wait around for 15 minutes while killing mobs. It takes at least 2x as long to earn the same amount of seals with these leves. Drop them, let us choose, or increase the seal value for that type!
One tip I can give to people doing company leves is to pick up 4 leves for the camp you are going to. If the company leve vendor offers a non /poke leve, do a normal one. This resets what he has to offer. Not perfect and it uses up leve allowances on normal leves but it helps with getting decent leves.
In the interests of balance, I just want to note that the lv20 chocobo caravan gives out twice as many seals as the level40 GCleves and can be solo'd just as easily if not easier.
Is it true that only 8 people on the server at any given time can do lvl 40 escort for your Grand Company? That is unbelieveable.
is it just me or caravan is totally broken for seals?
I'm getting 750 per run.
Lets say it takes 8 minutes to do a run, 5 on waiting. 12 Minutes. Lets add 3 minutes to account for sucky parties.
750 seals in 15 minutes.
3000 seals in 60 minutes.
Added to that come 1.22b we will be able to trade in avatar weapons for seals...
Some of the best weapons in this game are 6,500 seals. That's two hours 15 minutes of walking with some npcs against some joke like enemies.
If not lower the seals at least steepen the difficulty. By a lot.
A few things I think should be remembered which makes this a little more difficult then it might appear:
1) You do have to find people in your same grand company, so you can do this (at the rate you are saying)
2) To qualify for the weapon you do have to pay a lot of seals to get the promotion so you can buy it
3) The weapon is not 'that great' the moment you want to use it for any really challenging dungeon (since you die you loose sanction)
But I think the biggest equalizer is that to get the 3k seals/hr, you need to have 8 good people all of the same grand company. Which may not be the easiest thing for a lot of people to get together. Some people are fortunate to have a lot in their company, some not so much.
On a side note:
If you did 5-man DH run in 30 minutes, you would probably get about 1500 seals per person. After about 2-3 hours you would have enough to buy the same weapon.
So in this sense there is some balance (no need for same grand company, just need 5 good people who know it well).
Im trying to figure out what the exact criteria for getting 750 seals is. I get 500 most of the time and 750 sometimes. We kill all the enemies, chocos take little or no dmg, and complete the escort in less than 8 minutes. What am I doing wrong?
You're doing nothing wrong. There is a chance (not a guarantee) that the chocobo escort run will be "HQ", as in more, slightly higher level enemies. This type qualifies for the bonus. The npc at the end will say you get a larger reward because of the extra effort that was necessary.
This is the general chart:
Lvl 25 NQ --~200-210 seals
Lvl 25 HQ --~355-365 seals
Lvl 45 NQ --~500-510 seals
Lvl 45 HQ --~755-765 seals
We very rarely gets 500 unless we 4man it, 765 most of the time, trying to figure out how to get 1020 constantly ><
I have good news for all of you about Caravan Defense!
In patch 1.22b we will be adding a special quest that will open up access to other city’s caravan defense quests so that you will be able to participate with other players, regardless of which Grand Company they belong to. On top of that, we are adding new rewards for completing caravan defense. :)
w00t! ^.^/ That's awesome news for me, I'm the only person in my LS registered in Ul'dah's military. ;_; It makes Caravan Defense kinda difficult 'cause my entire LS goes elsewhere, and I'm left staring at the chocobos in Drybone by my lonesome. (o.- ) I am also curious what these new items might be.
Chocobo hat?! D:
I just thought I'd add my $.02 here. IMO the GC weapons kick ass! nothing beats the dps on the Flame Sergeant's Axe with sanction. All you need to keep sanction up on every fight for Garuda for example is to set your hp at the Inn in the city of your grand company, and the other at dragonhead. Every time you wipe, return to your GC headquarters (do not get raised), get sanction for free, return to dragon head and run to the Garuda cave, rinse, repeat. Oh yeah, it helps to not die until the end of the fight.
You have no idea how happy this makes some of us. Now I don't have to press-gang my LS members into going with the Maelstrom all the time (though it is the best GC to join).
(Seriously, when the subtext of the GC quests is "all three GCs need to work together!!" and there's no way to actually do so or be rewarded for doing so, it's beyond weird.)
Awesome, more stuff for us to do during the week! I was starting to worry about what we would do for LS members in other companies but this way we all can get seals together.
This is a good news above the expectation!
Very awesome news!
I now hope they increase the number of caravans lol... 8 per round can get... competitive
I havent had any problems with competition for caravans. Then again I'm a Maelstrom...no body seems to have joined maelstrom ._. So me and 3 of my buddies 4 man it when we can. I've even tried shouting for people to join with no luck.
Interesting....
Will the aspect of being in a specific grand company be diminished so that it is in name only, without any other tangible impact?
Naturally I am happy to go do more things with friends who unfortunately choose the wrong grand company (kidding!), but am curious where this course of action will lead.
Finally this will be so nice, looking forward to being able to help out half my ls that's grid.. and will be nice change of scenery.
I'm worried about this too. I like the fact that we're going to be able to help out with other caravans, but what about GC-pride ;-;?
I hope we get some kind of incentive to do caravans with a group of only one GC (like mini-Ifrit).
Perhaps get a boost or not get full seals if you're in a mixed caravan.
Getting 1020 on adder side requires to stop/hold caravan @ 4 specific points and wait about 1 min for extra mob spawn and even then... getting more than 50 kills still requires luck on other mob spawns. And if my memory serves correctly, the positions for popping extra mobs are:
1. Before overhead bridge, right after passing lone tree about a feet away.
2. Right beside the green-mossy fallen log @ open area.
3. Just after leaving that open area, on middle of horizontal path that looks like this: =/\=
4. When almost reaching Hyrstmill, there's a 3 way road ahead. Stop just before that intersection.
If extra mob (it's wolves for adders) didn't spawn within a minute, quickly release the hold because either u screw up the position, or it wasn't on the right place yet especially @ point 4 above. And save ur blizzara for BLMs and unleash when these extra popped because they can hit hard on caravan.
At the end, make sure ur pt got at least around 2 - 3 mins left when reaching finish so that ur pt can quickly initiate the next caravan escort. Fail, and ur pt have to wait around 10-15 mins before allowed for next run.
At least last night my pt got 1k seals 3 times out of 7 tries. :)
As for making sure not getting the lowest reward (500 seals), either make sure u get the 8 min speed run (need @ least 4 blm experienced enough to achieve this) or at least pop extra mob @ 2 location from the pop list above.
With a little training, u guys shud be able to handle the adder caravan. Special thanks from friends @ LS where I'm in. :D
Maybe stormers & flamers can provide their own caravan holding positions. :)
