Servers have nothing to do with my issue. I'm starting to see why people get stressed with you lol.

I didn't. Kids don't read enough books in school anymore.Quote:
Please, continue suggesting that they rely on Amazon, a direct competitor thanks to New World to provide their servers. Please tell me how that won't result in a company so notoriously unethical as Amazon screwing them over.
You can't compare the two. Servers and appliances are completely different. Not many consumers have a need for a server so the demand is not as high as with an appliance. I work for a company (that will remain nameless) that regularly increases their servers in the data center. The longest delay in receiving new servers was 4 month, since the beginning of the pandemic. We get our on average in about 2-3 months. SE had plenty of time to get servers in place for this launch. They likely knew there would be congestion like there is with every expansion but they figured they would ride out the storm to save money. What is different about his expansion is a large player base came over from another MMO this increased the player base by a substantial number. I'm sure they did some load testing and saw some delays but thought the player base would be forgiving which is why they are asking players to have faith. My question is faith in what? I've been trying to play for 8 hours today. I've been kicked off so many times only to start over. I was just kicked off again and now back to 6600 in queue. This is something a user should not experience.
This is complete garbage. I understand having to wait to log in, but I haven’t even been able to get in que to log in since the expansion launched. Since we are paying a monthly service for this I think some kind of compensation should be expected.
Games been around since 2010 they had over 10 years to prepaired for the future player base. Sqaure Enix never does prepair for future player base and demands. If they did this wouldn't happen on every new expansion they bring out.
Honestly you knew this was coming and also did nothing about it. It was no secret that launch days are a crap shows for a week. End walkers being the most hype expansion in ff14 history and the huge shift from wow to FF14 in players. Rather than paying for that month you should have let it lapse until word of the servers was good and should have been prepared of never playing the game during that week.
the login q does suck but i agree its normal during expansion launches for stuff like this, and i can deal with it. however what irks me in this case is being in q and randomly getting booted and then when i try to log back in getting the same error but when i finally get in q again im back where i was 20 minutes earlier. that is something they should find a way to fix because people can be more patient when they feel they make progress but when they just feel they are spinning their wheels there is only so much people can put up with.
Be patient and have faith? How about waiting four hours, almost in, and now back to the back of the line when IF I can get in, I will have to subsquently log off because I have a long day of work tomorrow. and for what? To have another long day of work only to run into this?! What faith?! Where is my sub money going? To the production of another game when they SHOULD be working on fixes to this?
North America servers have three countries on the same amount of servers and more people playing than Japan. European servers do not have this issue and servers not much in use. What excuse?
Yeah. This is completely unacceptable. SE more than happy enough to take my $ for deluxe pre-order but too lazy to use all that $ to buy servers for us to actually enjoy the early access? I won't be supporting them again any time soon. Another easy cash grab with little care or consideration about the player base. Too busy finding more ways to make our hard earned cash. I'd ask for a refund but too late now and they won't give it so whatever. Way to waste our time and money.
After reading this post and all your replies, would it be too much to ask you go ahead and not play for another 6 years?
Squeenix has said multiple times over the past 48 hours that their "fix" for Endwalker congestion is to further limit the amount of players allowed online at once even more than it was before. That's why nobody can log in, and why simple log-ins are being turned into DDoSes on their old servers. This is all working exactly as they intended, apparently. I love this game very much, and I really don't want to shit-talk it, but I have a very busy life and the weekends are the ONLY time I'm able to spend doing what I want to do with my free time. I guess I can just watch netflix all weekend and be a lazy bum but having already paid for the preorder (and a fantasia I can't use anymore... lmao) this is just extraordinarily shitty.
I wouldn't say they did nothing. I believe them when they say they took time to optimise, and I believe them when they say they wanted more servers up by now but the semiconductor shortage fucked them over.
I do think it's likely they could have done more with bigger financial investment in the launch, companies often do a little and then claim they did EVERYTHING. The lobby error especially is hugely frustrating, far more than queuing for hours is. Hopefully we'll see improvements going forward.
I laugh at all these people that think that Covid still doesn't effect companies. You guys think this year is bad? next year is actually going to be WORSE! Yeah that's right the chip shortage is going to be even worse next year that is the reason why Sony and TSMC made a deal to make a new chip manufacturer on Sony property and we are talking about billions of dollars being put into it not millions BILLIONS.

So buckle up kids cause we have just gotten started when it comes to shortages and prices going up.
Covid is still affecting a LOT. The restaurant industry is still dealing with mass worker shortages even as sales increase, product shortages from suppliers, precautions taken against covid to make sure others aren't infected (including shutting down operations for a time). We've got a long way to go.
The whole game crashing after lobby error isn't even due to a lack of servers. So they aren't entirely off the hook.
It’s beyond insane that people are defending a company selling a expansion knowing beforehand that most people wouldn’t be able to play it.
Aww the troll felt left out You want to give me my $70 back I paid to play this? Didn't think so.
" it's not the company's fault that they created a product, marketed it and sold it, and now they can't produce the actual product that they advertised and sold to the customer." Hmmm nope sorry, if you're going to be a business then be a business. Fix the issues or start offering refunds it's a pretty simple situation. Not only is this a product that people can't access but it's also a subscription to a product that people can't access... And that subscription is also denying access to four other products that were already purchased.
I love this story, love the game, love the characters I've gotten to know for over 8 years of playing and I love Yoshi and the team. But at the end of the day people... It's a business and a product that was sold and now people cannot access... By any definition of any capitalist nation that seems unfair and should result in refund. If this were EA y'all would be rioting.
No, jokes on you because I’m actually enjoying being pushed to the back of the queue every hour or so. Not only highly entertaining but also completely normal. Yay!
"They knew this was coming and did nothing about it."
Actually, where have you been the last couple months, weeks and days? Though it's infuriating for me too, they couldn't have made the expectations of the reality of Early Access more clear if they tried.
It's not EA and never will be, based on the amount of communication regarding the reality of the hardware situation and what people should expect for release. But by all means, submit your ticket via the correct channels so they know and can try to alleviate your concerns.
Lets not get angry... what are we, Blizzard or League of Legends players. Square Enix and Yoshi P have been very open with us and pushed Endwalker back because it needed more time. Its so RARE for a video game developer to do that, normally they would just leave it half baked. So let's just relax and instead, enjoy a nice cup of tea instead, Ezorea can wait.
^This 100% this. As a veteran of MMOs dating back to Everquest original, I've seen a lot. I have not seen a log in system that when you get an error from the server's end, you get booted to the end of the line. The one time I did, it was fixed within 3 hours of the issue being communicated, not 2+ days later. Some people have more wait time than they have play time at this point, for those of us with jobs (I know, scary concept to some of you), a 4 hour wait kills any time that person even HAD that day. Square needs to fix this urgently, or needs to consider compensation, or they WILL be losing accounts, rapidly.
They won't, it's listed in their fine print that all sales are FINAL and they will not refund any of it.
Will you want a refund when this all blows over by the end of the week?
That week will have ended the early access and then the new areas will be swarmed with all the people who didn't preorder, causing a whole new mess with the official launch. Oh and you think they'll have the semi-conductors within a week xD lol.
The answer to your question has been in the live letters - the purpose of the delay was for further QA for bugs, engine performance, quest and spell checking, etc. and to alter what they could in-regards to EXISTING world performance since they did not have the hardware to implement new worlds and *further* server upgrades.
You were never going to "see" the results of the extended QA time in regards to the server influx and congestion you're seeing now; that's why *those* expectations have been relayed separately for almost months and weeks now.
It's beyond insane that you haven't (apparently?) read a single live letter, announcement, forum announcement, dev communication or community discussion warning that this was likely going to be result. And we're not talking as if they started communicating this days ago - this has been at LEAST weeks now they've been informing players. If they hadn't communicated any of that, it'd be one thing. But that's not at all what happened. I have PLENTY of sympathy and share the frustration, believe me. But it's tempered by having been well informed, well in advance.
are you delusional? im srsly asking, you sound like you are 12 and talking about someone wo will steal your candy
the real world doesn't work like that, amazon is a server provider first and a crap developer second, im just amazed of how do you think the world works if you came with that line of thought (im debating between highschool kid or basement dweller)
what's next? amazon will stop selling games because they only want to sell the 2 games they make?
What I can't hear you my queue just 2002 at one again.
That's not entirely true though they wrote a statement awhile back stating they couldn't do anything, and they apologized 3 days before the problem occurred.
So you know they did do something.
I find your post to be quite ironic.
Not only do you call someone else delusional, while being delusional yourself, you also refer to them as being 12 years old.
I suggest you yourself find out how the real world works before implying that you do and that SnowVix doesn't.
Square Enix wants dedicated and reliable servers that are of excellent quality, so that they can purchase it for itself, as opposed to renting it.
They've basically said so in the past. I know this and I'm a new player who has been here for less than 2 weeks.
Finally, there is no shame in being either a "highschool kid" or a "basement dweller".
At least a highschool kid nor a basement dweller would resort to underhanded insults like you yourself have.
This tells me much more about you than you realise.
But please continue proclaiming "knowledge of how the world works", I bet you couldn't even properly explain gravity if I asked you to.
You realize GW2 also utilizes AWS with zero issues and better reliability.
Additionally AWS isn't the only one that could do it. AWS does have competitors as well you could use if you take personal issue with Amazon.
Square has also used AWS in the past (actually they use aws for other projects already in 2021) I believe they stated they loved it and it saved them money.. I'm sure they have a great working relationship with Amazon. So I'm a bit perplexed. Why you say otherwise, but you can check the square Enix AwS case study.
